Adello launches VR showroom format for virtual store exploration in lockdown

Adello is launching its virtual reality showroom format so that customers can explore stores, hotels, and shops—especially during lockdown.

Customers interested in buying a new product or curious about a new model usually want to go to a showroom and see it from different angles. In lockdown, this has become difficult. Adello therefore offers customers the opportunity to do this virtually.

In contrast to the virtual presentation on the website, mobile advertising reaches people while reading news, surfing the Internet or using mobile apps. The cell phone is ideal for exploration because it allows intuitive control thanks to the various sensors, Adello writes in a statement. This gives brands a great opportunity to present themselves in a modern way and offer exploratory journeys, and to attract the attention of potential customers, it adds.

"Working with several luxury brands in Europe and Asia, we not only leverage innovative technologies, but also knowledge about psychological and behavioral components of online users. In recent months, understandably, the question of how to offer explorations in Lockdown came up, especially among our luxury retailers, car manufacturers and tourism clients. This is where the VR showroom format came from," explains Anna Pak, Head of Marketing at Adello.

The 360-degree view of the VR showroom ad form uses the smartphone sensors (gyroscope) and/or touchscreen for user guidance. The structure of the advertising form enables emotional user guidance by adding multiple locations and product details, it continues.

For car manufacturers this can be the exploration of all car models, at a Rolex dealer users can discover the Rolex world and take a closer look at the most attractive products (zoom in, get more information/order). For example, the product details are automatically displayed when the user approaches the trigger point.

Instagram doesn't want TikTok videos in "Reels"

Instagram, a Facebook subsidiary, no longer plans to recommend TikTok videos on its «Reels» video feature. Reels works on a similar principle to the Chinese app. Users can scroll through various videos on it. However, Facebook is not satisfied with the feature’s success, especially since TikTok videos—rather than original content—are the ones that mainly end up on it.

instagram

"Original content is the engine of a social media platform. It can't exist without creative producers, because only through them is a positive user experience created. Operators especially want creators to post only on them and their apps. However, many publish their content on different networks. Reels must therefore be careful not to become a recycling platform for TikTok," advises social media expert Tim Weisheit in an interview with the news portal Press release.

From now on, the Instagram algorithm will no longer recommend videos that have a TikTok watermark. It also aims to improve the quality of reels by no longer highlighting videos with too much text or blurry images. The platform also recommends that content producers only use songs and sound effects from the Reels catalog.

Repetitions also in "stories

A lack of original content is not only a problem on Reels. There are also too many repetitions in "stories" for Instagram, especially of posts that have already appeared in the feed. That's why, in the future, users won't be able to include content from reels in their photo spreads. (pte)

Twitter warns of weaker user growth after record sales

Twitter has warned of slower user growth following the boom driven by the coronavirus pandemic and political developments. The U.S. microblogging service announced on Tuesday that growth would not be as strong in the coming quarters.

twitter-logo-1200

In the fourth quarter, which also saw the US presidential election, the number of monthly active users rose by 26% to 192 million. This was less than analysts had expected. However, flourishing advertising revenue, also thanks to new ad formats, ensured a 28% increase in turnover to an unprecedented 1.29 billion dollars. And profits increased by a good three percent to 222 million dollars.

Trump as a driver of business

According to Twitter, product improvements and global discussions about the coronavirus pandemic and the US elections have led to new registrations, while changes to combat misinformation have had little negative impact. Twitter has been in the headlines time and again over the past four years, particularly due to the now outgoing president and constant tweeter Donald Trump - most recently after his lifelong ban.

However, to keep users happy, Twitter is offering a number of innovations such as Fleets - short messages that disappear again - and is also testing an audio app that is similar to the popular Clubhouse format.

However, Twitter also announced that costs would rise by a quarter or more in the current year, mainly due to new hires and investments. However, revenues are expected to grow faster than costs, the company added. Sales of 940 million to 1.04 billion dollars are expected for the current quarter. (SDA)

Swisscom acquires e-commerce specialist Webtiser

Swisscom is acquiring Webtiser, an SAP consultant for e-commerce business. According to a statement on Wednesday, the telecoms group intends to expand its expertise in the area of customer experience.

Swisscom-Business Park Köniz

The Zurich-based company Webtiser, founded in 1998, employs around 40 people and is to be integrated into Swisscom's SAP unit after the takeover. The number of employees there will rise to a good 440, according to the statement. No financial details of the transaction are being disclosed.

Webtiser is a good fit for Swisscom's SAP business, it continues. The two consulting firms have already acted as partners in various tenders. Webtiser advises, develops and operates solutions for digital sales processes and does this on the basis of the SAP commerce solution.

Webtiser's 40 or so customers include SMEs as well as large companies. Swisscom and Webtiser implemented a major project for the kiosk operator Valora at various Swiss train stations. This involved shopping via app in the cashierless convenience stores of Avec Box and Avec X. (SDA)

Swiss music market grows again thanks to streaming

Overall sales in the Swiss music recording market continued to rise in 2020—due to the fact that music listeners are streaming more and more. In contrast, physical media such as CDs and LPs are now confined to a niche market. However, sales of downloads are also declining.

In Switzerland, total sales of 190.6 million Swiss francs were generated with recorded music in 2020, according to the IFPI, the leading industry association of Swiss music labels, which announced on Tuesday. This represents an increase of 3.9 percent compared to the previous year. The trend towards increasing sales has thus been unbroken since 2016.

The growth of 2020 in the overall market is exclusively attributable to streaming; sales here increased by 16 percent to CHF 144.5 million. In the download business, on the other hand, sales fell by a quarter to CHF 18.1 million. Sales of physical recordings were down 20 percent to 27.6 million Swiss francs.

The recorded music market is divided into the digital business with streaming and downloads (86 percent of total sales) and the business with physical recordings, such as CDs and vinyl long-playing records (14 percent), with LPs holding a market share of 2 percent. (SDA)

Serviceplan Suisse and R. Nussbaum toast clean drinking water

R. Nussbaum is offering the plumbing industry a tool to ensure compliance with drinking water hygiene standards. It is being promoted through a campaign by Serviceplan Suisse.

Nussbaum_UP-Box_2_1920x920px_RGB-(1)

Clean drinking water from the tap is taken for granted in Switzerland. However, there is a lot of work, technology and know-how behind it. Since the introduction of the new W3/E3 guidelines for drinking water hygiene, the task for sanitary planners and installers has become even more complex.

One tool for complying with the new guidelines is the UP-Box from R. Nussbaum. Because it optimally separates hot and cold water and can be installed directly on the riser zone, it makes the job of sanitary planners and plumbers a whole lot easier. A reason for enthusiasm. And this is exactly what the current campaign by Serviceplan Suisse aims to get to the heart of in a humorous and surprising way. It features sanitary planners and plumbers toasting the new UP-Box - with drinking water.

The campaign can be seen in advertisements in trade magazines and at the POS. Specific target groups are also approached with a physical mailing. A moving image version was specially created for social media ads and Google Ads to draw the attention of planners and installers to the new UP-Box.

TheIndustry reinvents sitebar for Jaguar and Land Rover online campaign

Jaguar Land Rover Switzerland is promoting both brands with the latest campaign from TheIndustry. A unique sidebar format was developed for the online campaign and launched nationwide in collaboration with Mmb Media Agency by the end of January.

Jaguar_Sitebar

Thanks to the technical integration of the stock locator, all stock vehicles for sale from the two premium brands are displayed in the site bar. The offers can be sorted by model, price range, transmission type and many other criteria using the filter function. Subsequently, the corresponding sales point is automatically pointed out and the car can be requested immediately by the interested user - also directly in the sitebar.

Should potential customers have any additional questions, they will be connected directly to Jaguar Land Rover Switzerland's customer service via live chat. In addition, the Gallery view is designed to encourage further browsing through current brand highlights.

The latest digital creation from TheIndustry thus demonstrates the potential of today's online marketing. According to the agency, the interaction rates are above average and the dwell time is comparatively long, averaging just under three minutes.

The programmatic delivery in TheIndustry's premium finance and premium news channels allows the new format to appear on desktop screens throughout Switzerland in a high-reach and customer-oriented environment.

"In addition to a direct conversion option within the ad with direct CRM integration, the analysis of individual model usage is an excellent way to crystallize user needs," explains Andreas Schärer, Head of Interactive Media at Mmb Media Agentur. "Using these learnings in further communication measures and all the way into the showroom offers a wide range of optimization potential - even outside of ATL measures."

Kernbrand refreshes web presence of Gossau municipal utility

The electricity and energy sector is developing at an enormously dynamic pace. If you want to keep pace, you have to position yourself convincingly in the market and demonstrate customer proximity - also with a view to possible liberalization. With its new Website Stadtwerke Gossau would like to focus even more on its strengths as a service provider.

A clear visual language, large headlines and a sharpened tonality are intended to present the services and news of the municipal utilities clearly and to bring customer benefits quickly to the point.

This new clarity needs space to unfold its full effect. Accordingly, the new appearance is visually generous and light. A lot of white and the characteristic green underline the proximity to Gossau. The new website look is rounded off with images that convey dynamism and proximity to the customer with partly unusual perspectives.

Aldi Suisse and content and form make for questioning faces

The new employer campaign of Aldi Suisse raises questions, among customers as well as competitors. The Zurich agency Inhalt und Form is responsible for its implementation.

ALDI-Megaposter-30s-DE-by-iundf-0-16-screenshot

At Aldi Suisse, it's not just the customers who benefit from attractive added values, but also the employees. That's bound to make some people wonder how the Swiss retailer pulls it off: "How does Aldi Suisse do it?" It's a question that Aldi Suisse and the Zurich-based agency Inhalt und Form tackle with a lot of humor in Aldi Suisse's new employer campaign.

In three spots, people are shown wondering, among other things, how Aldi Suisse manages to keep its employees so happy. They give themselves the answer, sometimes with imaginative ideas. How it's really done at Aldi Suisse is revealed in subsequent follow-up clips. But the competition also wonders about the many advantages of Aldi Suisse employees, as can be seen in three other subjects that round off the campaign in the form of display and social ads as well as OOH posters.

The national campaign can be seen on and offline throughout Switzerland since Monday.

Swisscom sells stake in Belgian BICS

Swisscom is selling its stake in the Belgian telecommunications company Belgacom International Carrier Services (BICS). The stake, which amounts to 22.4 percent, will now be transferred to the company’s previous majority shareholder, the Belgian telecommunications group Proximus. Swisscom will receive 110 million euros in return, as it announced on Tuesday.

Swisscom-logo

The other minority shareholder, the South African Mobile Telephone Networks group (MTN), will also sell its shares. Proximus, which is still more than 50 percent owned by the Belgian government, will become the sole shareholder in BICS.

The transaction will have no major financial impact on Swisscom. The financial outlook for the 2021 financial year will not change, according to the communiqué. As a spokeswoman added in response to a query from the AWP news agency, the transaction is not expected to have any impact on the operating result (EBITDA), "as it is only a minority interest.

Swisscom also did not provide any information on the book value. "However, we expect a book profit in the low double-digit million range from the sale in the first quarter," she said.

Origin of cooperation in 2005

The origins of the Belgacom-Swisscom collaboration date back to 2005, when Belgacom SA and Swisscom Fixnet AG merged their international wholesale business, according to the Swiss telecom group's spokeswoman.

To this end, they founded the joint venture BICS, which is now being taken over in full by Proximus. In recent years, the joint venture has made it possible to strengthen competitiveness in the international wholesale market. It has also been possible to exploit synergies, according to the spokeswoman.

The sale was nevertheless the right thing to do, he said, as Swisscom now only wants to invest in businesses that are strategically relevant to it. The exact timing of the closing is now still dependent on the usual regulatory approvals.

Previous contracts remain in place

Previous contracts between Swisscom and BICS will also remain in place. For example, the "blue giant" handles a large part of its international telephone minutes business under a supplier relationship with BICS. In addition, all signaling and part of Swisscom's international SMS traffic is handled by BICS, the spokeswoman added. (SDA)

Franz&René starts an election for HES-SO without participants

Every two years, HES-SO organizes internal elections to give students and staff a voice on important issues at the university. A humorous digital campaign by Franz&René aims to ensure that seats on the participatory bodies do not remain vacant.

Header_HESSO

Although elections are a great opportunity to change one's school, they ail from low candidacy and voter turnout. To convince more, Franz&René brings chairs to life through animations or illustrations that will be broadcast every week from December 8, 2020 to March 26, 2021.

The illustrations and animations of the digital campaign were produced by the agency itself. The result is a playground to tell the story of a society in which the only actors at the polls are empty chairs, whose programs, ideas and debates are correspondingly characterized by emptiness.

The campaign will be shown via owned media and HES-SO's various social media channels.
