Newmedia: New website for IBW

The Higher Technical College of Southeastern Switzerland IBW has gone online with a new website. Newmedia has created a new design and new navigation.

Now all the courses offered by the university of applied sciences are IBW.ch easier to find with just a few clicks. With just a few clicks, you can get to the desired course offer and find all the information, including a PDF preview of the brochure, according to a press release issued by Newmedia on Monday. Interested parties can register for the course online right away. The website also provides all information on locations, school operations and information events.

IBW worked together with the web agency Südostschweiz Newmedia to redesign the website. The layout comes from the Newmedia design studio. It incorporates the IBW's current poster campaign. Ibw.ch is technically based on the TYPO3 content management system. Newmedia has developed an interface to the school management software PerformX, from which the website obtains all the information on the courses and makes it available to visitors.

Media Focus presents "AdHijacking Study"

On May 29, 2013, the first Swiss Affiliate Marketing Conference took place at the Volkshaus in Zurich. At the event, Media Focus presented the AdHijacking Study Switzerland, which was conducted in collaboration with the company Adresult.

The study concludes that 25 percent of all brands surveyed are affected by this sub-discipline of fraud. The result supports the importance of regular brand control in affiliate marketing, Media Focus said of the study. Ad hijacking is the copying of search engine advertising ads. Every lead or sale generated via ad copying can lead to unjustified commission claims by the ad hijacker (partly publisher) against the brand owner (merchant). As a further effect, the original ads are no longer delivered during the active booking times of the AdHijackers.

The presentation of the AdHijacking Study Switzerland with further results is available on the website of Media Focus available.

Last but not least: You can always get uglier

If you have ever strayed onto a really ugly website, then it was probably a few years ago. Or you are the lucky finder of a rarity: one of the few absolutely retina-destroying websites on the WWW.

These sites are not only abysmally ugly in terms of color and style. Some also make it absolutely impossible for users to find their way around. A few of these finds Roger Hausman immediately found in the collection pack, on T3n.de:

zgl1_4
zgl2_0

And since every effort should be given at least a little respect, T3n.de concludes by pointing out that the quality of the design does not necessarily say anything about the quality of the content or the success of the website in question. The second part of this sentence is about as true as the assertion that a good chocolate is still sold successfully even if the packaging looks like it has been run over twice. (uma)

Mörgeli rebuffed by SRG ombudsman

The SRG ombudsman has rejected two complaints by the SVP National Council member in connection with the Mörgeli coverage in the "Rundschau" program. He partially approved a third complaint about a follow-up broadcast.

However, Ombudsman Achille Casanova dealt with the numerous complaints in detail and, in some cases, also critically, as can be seen from the three final reports, on which Sunday View and Schweiz am Sonntag reported and which are also available to the news agency SDA.

In an initial broadcast, "Rundschau" accused Mörgeli of waving through numerous "unscientific" doctoral theses and thus not properly fulfilling his function as "doctoral supervisor". On the "hot seat", the SVP politician was then able to justify himself on the accusations for ten minutes, during which the presenter also asked him whether he would now resign as a member of the National Council.

The medical historian felt unfairly treated by the feature and the interview in the "hot seat" and complained about the broadcast to the ombudsman.

One page report

The film report was indeed one-sided, Casanova judged in his final report. Important aspects were left out or not examined in depth. The question about the resignation from the National Council was "a misguided provocation" because it mixed Mörgeli's political and scientific work in a problematic way.

However, because Mörgeli had had sufficient opportunity to refute the accusations in the interview, he could not support the complaint about this broadcast, the ombudsman wrote in his letter to Mörgeli. "Even though I can certainly understand your critical reaction." But the principle of objectivity was not violated in the entire reporting - film report and "hot seat".

Casanova, on the other hand, considers a complaint about the "Rundschau" program of April 3, 2013, which dealt with the topic of what skills are necessary in Switzerland for a doctorate "Dr. med", to be "partially justified". In his final report, ombudsman Achille Casanova states that the audience was "unable to form its own opinion" about this main question. Here the factual fairness requirement was violated. "I therefore consider your complaint, insofar as I was able to address it, to be partially justified."

In total, the Zurich National Council member Christoph Mörgeli objected to three programs - two from "Rundschau" and one from "10vor10".Werbewoche.ch reported).

Mörgeli is not satisfied with these decisions. He wants to take the case to the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television UBI, he told SDA. (SDA)

Mediapulse pays for measurement system with Bakom advance payment

Mediapulse paid for the investment in Kantar’s new measurement system using an advance from Bakom. The scope and details of the transaction are outlined in a closer examination of Mediapulse’s recently published 2012 annual report.

In the consolidated income statement, an amount of CHF 6,480,000 is listed as income under the heading "Contributions by the Swiss Confederation to third parties". The exact same amount in francs can be found in the expenses as operating expenses. Upon request, Mediapulse confirmed the process. The federal contribution tranches planned for the coming years had been called forward in order to be able to make the investment. There is now simply less money left for the ongoing contributions. According to the 2012 annual report, Mediapulse also received a further CHF 1,884,571 as a subsidy for the operation of the old measurement system from GFK.

Bakom is transparent: it is correct that the amount of 6 million was paid out in advance as an exception. Based on the legal mandate in the RTVA, the federal government is supporting the use of radio and television by investing a total of 10 million in the new research system over a period of four years.

Service plan: Popular anthems for e-bike from Stöckli

The Stöckli e-bike was specially designed by Swiss engineers for the local topography. Serviceplan Suisse has developed an original radio concept intended to communicate the benefits of the e-bike in an entertaining way.

At the same time, the concept is intended to convey the exhilarating feeling of riding a Stöckli e-bike: Popular bike songs were given new lyrics and musically reinterpreted by Swiss hit guarantors Hit Mill, the agency writes in a statement.

The results are: An a cappella version of the folk song "Mir sind mit em Velo da," sung by the Zurich-based women's group "Dezibelles," as well as a groovy remake of the 1970s hit "Pushbike" by the Australian rock band "The Mixtures" in a Swiss German and a French-language version. The songs can be heard from now until the end of May on the most important local radio stations in Switzerland.

Responsible at Stöckli Outdoor Sports: Adrian Albrecht (Head of Marketing). Responsible at Serviceplan Suisse: Manuela Brunner, Sacha Moser and Jan Krohn. Responsible at Hit Mill: Oliver Probst and Philipp Indlekofer (music, arrangement and production).

Der Landbote: Tamedia interested in takeover

Tamedia has held a 20 percent stake in the Landbote for some time now. Should the newspaper be sold, the Tamedia Group is interested in acquiring it, as Finanzen.ch reported on Friday.

The Winterthur Landbote is an integral part of the Zurich regional newspaper network. This was stated by Tamedia Chairman of the Board of Directors Pietro Supino according to Finances.ch in an interview with Bilanz (issue 11/2013). However, he did not want to confirm whether Tamedia actually has a right of first refusal. "If you know us, you would almost have to assume that. But we don't talk about that," was his answer.

Supino's response to the sale of the financial newspaper Finanz und Wirtschaft FuW was clearer: "There are no plans to sell FuW". Due to the dramatic decline in financial advertisements, FuW had become a restructuring case, he said. However, the team has succeeded in achieving a turnaround. The paper is now well positioned again and there are no plans for a further round of savings.

Media oversupply

According to Finanzen.ch, Supino expects further consolidation in the newspaper sector in the future. There is a colossal oversupply of media in Switzerland. In his opinion, there will be fewer paid daily newspapers in the future. "And those that remain will have to sharpen their profile and deliver on their promise of quality on all channels," he says.

In French-speaking Switzerland, Tamedia has recently come under fire in connection with cost-cutting efforts (Werbewoche.ch reported). According to Finanzen.ch, Supino continues to believe in Le Matin's raison d'être: "We have the ambition to find a sustainable business model for the newspaper. I hope that we will succeed."

Telesuisse: Parliament must make improvements to RTVG revision

For Telesuisse, the association of Swiss regional television stations, the Federal Council’s message on the revision of the Radio and Television Act leaves key issues unresolved. Telesuisse sees a significant need for improvement, particularly in the area of licensing.

In the coming years, regional broadcasters will face major technical and content-related changes in the rapidly changing media market. They therefore need planning security in order to be able to continue to offer high-quality regional programs. Telesuisse wrote this in a press release on Thursday. Therefore, Telesuisse proposes that the licenses do not have to be put out to tender regularly, but could also be extended if a broadcaster fulfills the performance mandate and the license requirements. At the very least, the previous performance of the broadcaster must be taken into account in the new concession.

Telesuisse also advocates sufficient funding for regional television stations: The Federal Council's proposed fixing of the fee shares at a value of 3 to 5 percent would bring a sensible flexibilization, but on average no increase in contributions to the regional broadcasters. "Compared to the SRG, the regional broadcasters will thus continue to be significantly worse off, and the provision of regional public service is at risk," the association writes. And calls for the fee shares to be set at 4 to 6 percent, which would allow for a moderate increase at the discretion of the department.

Also unsatisfactory from the association's point of view is the proposal to refund to the fee payers the fee shares of almost CHF 70 million that have accumulated in recent years but have not been paid out. This money is due to the private radio and television stations and could be invested sensibly, for example in the training of journalists.

The association is also positive about other proposed amendments to the Radio and Television Act. For example, the planned subtitling of news broadcasts for the disabled, provided that the additional costs can be financed through radio and television license fees, as planned. The simplification of the licensing procedure is also to be welcomed, according to which a possible threat to the diversity of opinion and offerings no longer has to be examined in advance in an elaborate manner.

After the Federal Council had largely excluded the needs of regional broadcasters with the present dispatch, the association concluded, its concerns would now be brought to bear in the consultations on the draft law in the commissions and councils.
