DD Com: Jelmoli streetcar for 180th birthday

Just in time for Jelmoli’s 180th anniversary, the DD Com agency is staging a particularly inspiring Zurich tram experience.

The striking branding in the outdoor area invites visitors to enter and immerse themselves in the Jelmoli worlds such as women's, men's, sports, beauty and accessories, according to a statement. Anyone strolling through the streetcar from front to back will experience Jelmoli en miniature - including brand diversity and service quality.

Jelmoli wants to present itself as a customer-oriented, friendly and highly innovative company: For example, the sports department surprises with a running track, the women's department shows samples of the current collection, and in the "Accessories and Travel" theme area a luggage conveyor belt ensures awareness among streetcar passengers. DD Com also sets the scene for the customer magazine, which is offered free of charge to every passenger: with large-scale images of editorial articles and key visuals. The agency also focused on coordinating the streetcar's information elements: the side panels of the seats, for example, are used as teaser text panels, while the "How to" section on the light strips clarifies everyday style issues.

An agenda of current Jelmoli events, special campaigns and promotions, and seasonal highlights round off the mobile shopping experience. Regular updates to the content ensure sustained communication with the target groups. The Jelmoli streetcar will be on the road from August 2013 to August 2014.

Responsible at Jelmoli: Monica Monsch (Head of Marketing and
Communication). Responsible at DD Com: Daniel Müri (Creative Direction/Strategy), Marc Hahn (Art Direction/Creation), Sarah Furrer (Graphic Design). Project Management: Jasmin Jost and Annick Engeli (consulting).

Call Lanz for VBZ: Button for environmentalists

The latest ad campaign by Ruf Lanz for the Zurich Public Transportation Authority (VBZ) shows that, unlike in the past, environmentalists today need nothing more than a button.

For more than ten years, VBZ has been surprising its customers with trenchant advertising campaigns designed by Ruf Lanz. The latest motif shows how much the image of the environmentalist has changed: Whereas in the past people liked to demonstrate their ecological sentiments with confession buttons, today they only need one button: the boarding button of the streetcar and bus. Anyone who presses this button drives smart and environmentally friendly. VBZ now transports 80 percent of its 880'000 passengers per day with electric power. And they have been doing so without nuclear power since 2006, according to a press release. The motifs will be used in advertisements and, starting next week, directly one after the other on the new digital billboard City ePanel.

Responsible at VBZ: Heinz Vögeli (Head of Corporate Communications). Responsible at Ruf Lanz: Markus Ruf, Danielle Lanz (Creative Direction), Mario Moosbrugger (Art Direction), Markus Ruf (Text), Sabrina Luck (Consulting). Photography: Mathias Zuppiger.

Last but not least: Something with marketing

Should you laugh or cry at this advertisement from the Swiss Marketing Academy? Either way, marketing is and remains something casual!

We noticed this above-average successful advertisement on Twitter today. The task was probably: Pack all the marketing clichés into original, short sentences and appeal to people who feel addressed by them. Or want to feel. Just a sexy career boost!

"Success is sexy!" Now it's clear why every second adolescent later wants to do "something in marketing" and not carpentry or farming or even banking. The rest choose either "something to do with media" or "something to do with advertising". In the end, they all end up at the bank (UBS, not Park). So it's not surprising that marketing schools have to fight particularly hard (if not HARDEST!) to attract young talent. Good luck with that! (hae)

Tell's Sons: New Agency in Central Switzerland

The Swiss agency landscape has gained a new member: Matthias Schnüriger and Iwan von Rickenbach have founded Tells Söhne in Brunnen on Lake Lucerne. Both worked for several years at renowned agencies in Zurich.

Iwan von Rickenbach worked as Art Director at Wirz Werbung from 2005 - 2012 and won several national and international awards. From 2012 - 2013 he was able to gain valuable experience in the social media sector as Digital Art Director at Webguerillas. After completing his studies in Design Management, Matthias Schnüriger managed all web projects of the design agency TBS & Partner from 2010 - 2013.

With this backpack of experience and great drive, Iwan von Rickenbach and Matthias Schnüriger set about founding and building up their own company in spring 2013. Although both act as equal partners, the areas of responsibility are clearly divided: While Iwan von Rickenbach is responsible for the creative ideas and their design implementation, Matthias Schnüriger is responsible for the technical development of the web projects as well as all administrative and organizational tasks.

Wide variety of offers

Iwan von Rickenbach, the creative head of Tells Söhne, is convinced: "Good services in the fields of graphics and communication are also in demand outside the agency stronghold of Zurich." One of the strengths of the company from central Switzerland is certainly its considerable range of services: whether corporate design, print products, web development, illustration, animation or cross-media advertising campaigns - Tells Söhne can offer the entire spectrum of services in-house. "Down-to-earth and with vision" is what the agency's website says. Matthias Schnüriger explains: "We meet our customers at eye level, are straightforward in communication and efficient in our daily work. Our customers want an agency they can trust and which offers good service. With these needs, they are in good hands with us."

Promising start

Tell's sons have been in business for four months now, and the good response so far and the good order situation make the owners feel positive. In this short time, several design and web projects have already been carried out, an advertising campaign for a travel agency has been realized and a book has been published. Selected projects can be viewed on the website Tellssoehne.ch be viewed.

Notch Interactive: Online campaign for Sanitas

Notch Interactive designs an online campaign for digital channels and creates various sub-campaigns tailored to the different needs of the target audiences.

In spring 2013, Notch Interactive won the Swiss health insurance company Sanitas as a new client. Sanitas commissioned the agency with the conception, creation and implementation of the online campaigns, which focus on the acquisition of new customers and tie in with the umbrella campaign by Leo Burnett. Whether for families, singles or young people, Sanitas offers the right insurance products for every situation in life. That's why the sub-campaigns that Notch Interactive designed for the health insurance company always dramatize the needs of the corresponding target groups.

The visual hook for the online campaigns is the bandage, which unrolls from the banner to reveal various messages tailored to the user. The advertising media lead to target-group-specific landing pages and, in a further step, to the offer and sales process, which is handled directly online at Sanitas.

All advertising media also have a large competition as a common bracket. Users can win a vacation budget, which is paid out to the winner every year. The promotion underscores Sanitas' claim of "a lifetime.

Responsible at Notch Interactive: Peter A. van der Touw (overall responsibility), Roger Oberholzer (strategy), Martin Pfeiffer (producing), Jeff Gerber (creative direction), Marco Klein (art direction), David Elmiger (concept, text), Patrizia Harzenmoser (design), Jürg Schaeppi (design), Jack Benz (design), Anja Speer (consulting) Vera Weber (consulting).

Editors-in-chief concerned about the criminalization of journalists

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Swiss Conference of Editors-in-Chief noted with concern that the number of obstructions against media professionals has recently increased.

For example, the British intelligence service forced the London editorial office of the Guardian to delete data on the Snowden case, and the partner of the editor in charge was detained for hours at London Heathrow airport. In Neuchâtel, officials searched the home of journalist Ludovic Rocchi in La Chaux-de-Fonds - in his absence (Werbewoche.ch reported). They confiscated computers, data carriers and documents and took them away. Rocchi is accused of violating official secrecy, defamation and slander, comparatively harmless offenses that do not justify treatment like that of a serious criminal.

Freedom of the media is one of the greatest assets in a democracy, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. The Conference of Editors-in-Chief therefore warns against the premature criminalization of journalists and protests against the massive action ordered by the Neuchâtel public prosecutor's office against Ludovic Rocchi and the attack by the British intelligence service on the Guardian's editorial team.

The editors-in-chief conference will also co-sign the open letter of protest from various Nordic editors-in-chief to British President David Cameron.

Seed: documentary film series for Swiss Re

Seed documented the construction of Swiss Re's new headquarters in a series of short documentaries. The building was designed by the Basel-based architectural firm Diener & Diener.

Seed is accompanying the creation with a multi-part series of short documentaries. The first two episodes have now been released, with the overall project extending through 2017. Swiss Re considers architecture and art to be important means of expressing the company, the agency said in a statement Tuesday. The goal of the film series, therefore, is to convey the company and its values through the documentation of construction activity, it said.

The films are shown approximately every six months at the Swiss Re Next project website published. They are aimed at employees and the interested public. Seed developed the overall film concept together with Christoph Schaub and Simon Koller. Simon Koller is responsible for the realization of the individual films.
