New LGK: Bernese faster than Zurichers

The Neue LGK agency designed posters for BermobilI to inform people about the end of the track renovation in the city center.

The Neue LGK agency designed posters for BermobilI to inform people about the end of the track renovation in the city center.

Bernmobil has finished renovating the tracks in Marktgasse. All services are running on their usual routes again. The construction work took five months. Neue LGK from Bern and Zurich has produced advertisements and posters so that everyone in Bern is aware of this. These humorously drew a comparison with the people of Zurich, who are supposedly always so fast. The campaign spread on Twitter and Facebook and was picked up by Blick am Abend, according to a press release issued on Thursday.

Responsible at Bernmobil: Monika Scheiwiller (Head of Marketing Communication). Responsible at Neue LGK: André Benker, Hans Tanner (Creative Direction), Peter Rettinghausen (Text), Stephan Wittwer (Art Direction), Nadia Jost (Graphics), Claudia Shatri (Consulting).

Studio Geissbühler for the National Museum

Studio Geissbühler is responsible for the advertising campaign for a current exhibition on Charlemagne at the National Museum in Zurich.

Who was Charlemagne and how did the Carolingian emperor shape the eighth and ninth centuries? 2014 marks the 1200th anniversary of the death of Charlemagne (*748-†814), the first emperor of the Western Middle Ages. To mark the occasion, the National Museum Zurich is dedicating a comprehensive cultural and historical exhibition to him and his time.

Studio Geissbühler developed the advertising for the exhibition. Charlemagne is an icon in the history of the development of the Western empire. This is implemented as the central idea in the advertising campaign. At the center is an iconography that stages the typical signs of Charlemagne: Beard and crown together become the exhibition symbol, which is used on all media. Boldly and with grandeur, as befits the theme, according to the press release issued on Thursday.

Responsible at the Landesmuseum Zurich: Andreas Spillmann (Overall Management), Marco Castellaneta (Head of Museum Operations), Peter Krebs (Head of Marketing, Communication & Events), Juliette Wyler (Head of PR), Carole Neuenschwander (Project Management Marketing). Responsible at Studio Geissbühler: Nadine Geissbühler (Creative Direction).

Arena Alva and Rhiiblatt: merger

Starting in 2014, the local newspapers *Arena Alva* and *Rhiiblatt* will be published as a single newspaper. With Marc Holdener and Judith Sacchi, Südostschweiz Medien is relying on a team that has already proven itself.

As part of the 2015 territorial reform, the two local newspapers, which cover the area from Felsberg to Ilanz and serve as official publication organs for many municipalities in this region, will be merged. In the run-up to the merger, all municipal presidents and other municipal officials were visited in recent weeks. The response was positive in all municipalities, according to a press release issued on Thursday.

Südostschweiz Medien - to which Werbewoche also belongs - expects the merger to have a positive impact on the advertising industry. The combination of tourist areas and economically strong regions will create an expanded platform with a circulation of over 8,000 copies.

There will be no significant changes for subscribers to Arena Alva and Rhiiblatt. In addition to the tried-and-tested but expanded local reporting, the joint newspaper will also contain official information. However, the name of the local newspaper has not yet been decided. Südostschweiz Medien invites the population of the Arena Alva and Rhiiblatt communities to submit suggestions for the name competition.

Last but not least: cream for men

Why do women, in particular, use face cream, even though they generally have much better skin than men? Men's skin is actually exposed to harsher conditions. For example, because men ride motorcycles in all kinds of weather and enjoy standing over the grill.

Dove has been the undisputed favorite care product manufacturer of countless women for years because the clips show plump models and try to talk women out of their complexes. In short, they paint a realistic picture of beauty. Beauty that is attainable for everyone.

Dove has also developed a skincare line for men, which is a little more difficult to sell to men. The new clip is aimed at men who ride motorcycles and like to stand in front of the barbecue and takes a similarly sympathetic approach. But will men buy an entire skincare line because of it? Women have long known from other sexist advertising that you can't look fresh and, above all, age beautifully without a wide range of skincare products. Men will probably continue to be satisfied with the first cream that comes along against dry skin. Nice clip or not. (sis)

Zurich has a new design agency

The two designers Fredy Espejo and Emanuel Gürth founded the agency Januar Designbureau together. The focus is on branding, visual communication and new media.

After six years of graphic design and motion graphics for the production company Frame Eleven, Fredy Espejo founded the design agency Gemdesign in 2005. Emanuel Gürth's path led him from graphic designer to art director of a Zurich-based full-service advertising agency. In 2010, he went independent with Gürth Design. Now the two designers have joined forces and founded January.

The result is an owner-managed design agency with a boutique character focusing on branding, visual communication and new media. January supports its clients in the development and sustainable maintenance of their visual appearance. In terms of content as well as design. In doing so, they follow their demand for quality, clarity and efficiency. With their own web presence January.ch was consistently based on reduced Responsive Flat Design.

SRF 1 "Rundschau": Conversations more at eye level

The Audience Council has responded positively to the discussion format on the «Heisse Theke» segment of the new «Rundschau.» They also like the show’s modern look. In terms of content, the reports stand out for their engaging presentation—though there is sometimes a tendency toward dramatization.

The "hot seat" introduced in 1994 is gone. At last, the Public Council unanimously agrees and is pleased that discussions can now take place at eye level at the modern "hot bar". Despite the more pleasant formal arrangement, the interviews have remained uncomfortable, which the panel appreciates. Sandro Brotz has always hosted the observed broadcasts and the majority of Council members find him likeable, credible, persistent and fair.

The new visual appearance appeals to observers and is perceived as fresh, modern, "cool and cool". On the other hand, the introduction of three-dimensional presentations polarizes opinion: A majority of the Council sees augmented reality as a gimmick. As a pre-produced element in the live studio atmosphere, it also seems unnatural.

In terms of content, "Rundschau" convinced the majority of the Audience Council with its mostly attractive topics and the way they are presented. The panel rated the foreign topics as important because SRF does not have a foreign magazine. Many stories are emotionally moving, but there is a danger that distance and objectivity may be lost. Some Council members sometimes notice a tendency towards dramatization in some contributions, which is evident in the choice of topics and in re-enacted scenes with background music.

Last but not least: Nokia resets the front lines

Before the Nokia Lumia was released...

... there were two kinds of parents at school plays: There were those who were always in the way with their camera because they wanted to capture their little ones' every pip for later. And those who simply found their children's first acting steps cute, but didn't think they were anything special. Everyone agreed that the former were annoying.

Now Nokia is resetting the battle lines: in the new commercial for the launch of the Nokia Lumia 1020, there are parents on one side who are totally annoyed by their iPhone camera. And on the other side, there are those who take relaxed shots with their Nokia Lumia from the back row. Because they can do it without disturbing anyone. Because they have a Nokia Lumia with a 41-megapixel sensor.

Which will prevail? We can hope for technical superiority. It will hardly be composure. (sis)
