Compliments make beautiful

To mark the relaunch of the I am skincare line at Migros, the Y&R Group is launching a campaign to go along with it. It encourages people to give each other more compliments—because to be beautiful, the soul needs care, too.

I am, the care line of Migros has undergone a major relaunch. In addition to the redesigned packs and the new logo, it was also time for a new campaign. I am already carries the brand essence in its name: I am beautiful the way I am - in my very own way. The campaign so far has implemented this core as a personal credo of single individuals. But wouldn't it be great to hear the insight "You are beautiful just the way you are" not only from yourself, but also from other people?

The campaign idea
Making someone more beautiful is quite simple - with a compliment. The more compliments you get, the more beautiful you feel. And the more beautiful you look to others. But in contrast to many other countries, people in Switzerland are very stingy with compliments - which, by the way, is also confirmed by a study commissioned by Migros and published in 20 Minuten. That's why I am calling on people to give each other more compliments - because beauty needs care.

Every compliment should be a trigger so that everyone can finally feel as beautiful as they actually are. And what compliments are for the soul, I am products are for the body: a simple and individual care for personal beauty.

The campaign launch
The official campaign launch is March 1, 2014. On the International Day of Compliments, the 2.5-minute launch spot will run in prime time on Swiss TV and other stations. In it, protagonist Stefan compliments complete strangers on a road trip through the whole of Switzerland. The film was shot with a hidden camera. "The happy reactions to Stefan's compliments are all genuine and spontaneous - a rarity in advertising and a nice proof that the campaign insight falls on fertile ground throughout Switzerland," says the agency responsible. "People are happy to receive compliments and really blossom."

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN9nhAmfviY

The spot ends with an invitation to the audience to give compliments themselves: I am provides more than 500 poster sites throughout Switzerland for this purpose. At i-am.ch you can select the desired location and add a personal compliment to someone. This takes an unusual approach in terms of media: from online to offline and not vice versa.

Further campaign parts are advertisements, banners, POS activities and above all always new content on i-am.ch like the Style Channel, which is regularly populated with new tutorials, or the I am tester program.

Read the background to the campaign and I am in the interview with Jürg Spring, Head of Brand and Label Management at Migros. In the next print edition of Werbewoche, which will be published on March 7 - and online from then on, of course. (Here it goes to the interview with Jürg Spring.).

Ragusa Rocks

Camille Bloch is taking his iconic Ragusa brand to a whole new level with «Ragusa Blond.» The caramel-flavored chocolate creation was launched by the communications agency By Heart with a rock-and-roll twist.

ragusa1_0

Ragusa is a true classic in Switzerland. Launched more than 75 years ago by Camille Bloch, the family business in the Bernese Jura has now developed a new variant of the chocolate bar: Ragusa Blond - with caramel flavor. Not a product line extension, but a completely new category of chocolate, according to the agency responsible, By Heart. "The new Ragusa Blond keeps the rough edges of the original, retains the crunchiness of the whole hazelnuts, but tempts you to new horizons in terms of taste."

The Zurich-based communications agency has been giving Ragusa fresh impetus for a few years now. Now it's stepping it up a notch for product-side innovation. Creative Director Hans Siegwart and his team have taken the Ragusa brand world in a rocking direction. With the Zurich band ZiBBZ, an independent Ragusa song was developed that sets the tone for the entire campaign: "Dynamite Blond" signals just how much Ragusa will be rocking in the future.

The new TV spot, in which the ski racer delivers the head-bang to the wild sound of the rock band, shows that this is also entirely in the spirit of brand ambassador Lara Gut. The loud campaign is broadcast across all Company platforms played, includes a large Event part with appearances in ski resorts, shows itself online, at trade fairs and of course at the POS. Ragusa is now rocking on all channels, including TV.

Emily Bell has joined Tamedia’s Advisory Board for Digital Development as a new member. The media expert is a professor and director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in New York.

Until 2010, Emily Bell was editor-in-chief of the website of the British newspaper The Guardian and was responsible for the digital content of Guardian News and Media. Under her leadership, the Guardian set new journalistic standards with live blogging, multimedia formats and the use of social media. In 2013, she joined the Board of Trustees of the Scott Trust, which owns the Guardian Media Group.

Tamedia's Advisory Board for Digital Development was set up in October 2013. Its purpose is to identify new digital business areas at an early stage and to provide an external perspective on new investment opportunities and strategic collaborations, according to a press release issued by the media company on Friday.

Keystone brings World Press Photo to Zurich again

The World Press Photo exhibition is coming to Zurich for the seventh time. From May 9 to June 1, 2014, it will be a guest at the Folium Sihlcity. The winning image shows African migrants on the coast of Djibouti city trying to catch a cheap phone signal from Somalia.

The World Press Photo of the Year 2013 was taken by the US-American John Stanmeyer. It shows a group of African migrants on the coast of Djibouti city during the night. Lifting their cell phones, they try to catch a favorable phone signal from the neighboring country of Somalia - a sparse connection to relatives abroad. Djibouti is a common stopover for migrants passing through from countries like Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea to seek a better life in Europe and the Middle East. Stanmeyer photographed the subject for National Geographic on February 26, 2013.

The 19-member international jury awarded prizes to the best works in nine categories from 98,671 entries submitted by 5,754 photographers from 132 countries. Jillian Edelstein, jury member from the UK/South Africa, says of the World Press Photo of the Year: "It's an image that connects to so many other stories - it opens up discussions about technology, globalization, migration, poverty, despair, alienation and humanity. It's a very subtle, powerful and nuanced image. It's so subtly and poetically done, yet full of meaning, and it conveys themes of great seriousness and concern in today's world."

The traveling exhibition with the award-winning works is touring more than 100 cities in 45 countries worldwide. Keystone, together with the Leading Partners Canon and Bank Baumann & Cie, Banquiers as well as GDZ and the media partners NZZ am Sonntag and Persönlich, brought the exhibition World Press Photo 14 to Zurich. From May 9 to June 1, 2014, the award-winning images of 2013 will be open to the public at the Folium.

Is Roger Köppel considering a political career?

Roger Köppel is on tour with his lecture «Situation Analysis Following the Policy Decision of February 9.» On Thursday, he spoke at the Gasthof Schützen in Aarau to an audience of about 250 people. Sonntagsblick alleges that he is acting like a politician, not a journalist.

Roger Köppel acted like a political actor when he hammered home the "enormous strengths of Switzerland" to the community and simply brushed aside disruptive arguments, writes Sonntagsblick. The same applies to the self-financed tour of Switzerland, the home story in Schweizer Illustrierte, and finally the motto he has given himself: "Fully committed to Switzerland" - all typical actions of a politician.

When asked whether he should not consequently run for the National Council, the Weltwoche boss told Sonntagsblick: "There may come a time when you have to enter this arena." According to Sonntagsblick, he denies any current ambitions, but admits that he is asking himself the question.

SRG wants more women in management and at the top

The SRG aims to increase the proportion of women on its governing bodies to 30 percent by 2020. The SRG’s Board of Directors gave the green light to a corresponding proposal from management last Thursday.

The target - SRG does not speak of "quota" - is to apply across all SRG corporate units, general management and subsidiaries Publisuisse, Swiss TXT and TPC, SRG spokesman Daniel Steiner said Sunday, confirming a report by Schweiz am Sonntag.

In view of the turnover rate in management and the retirements in the coming years, the goal is realistic. At present, however, only two women sit on the nine-member SRG Board of Directors. The Executive Board with Director General Roger de Weck has eight men and no women.

In principle, the target value should apply at all management levels. "The different starting points must be taken into account. In technical areas, the target value is unrealistic in the long term; nevertheless, the 30 percent target should be achieved overall," explained Steiner.

Enable flexible part-time and job-sharing

When filling new management positions, SRG systematically checks whether the position can also be advertised and filled on a part-time basis. Management staff with small children are also offered flexible part-time work. Wherever possible, the job-sharing model should be tried out.

With the target for the Board of Directors, SRG is complying with a directive of the Federal Council, according to which a target quota of 30 percent for both genders applies to boards of directors of companies close to the federal government. The directive came into force at the beginning of 2014 and also applies to SBB, Swiss Post and Finma, among others.

The Federal Council is largely responsible for ensuring that the target quota for members of the board of directors is achieved: it elects the members of the board of directors or individual members of the board of directors of federally-affiliated companies either directly, as in the case of SRG or Swiss Post, or indirectly via the general meeting of shareholders controlled by the federal government, as in the case of SBB.

Customer growth and pitch wins

Various agencies are celebrating an increase in clients and successful pitches. This time, the list includes: Wirz Werbung, IMG, and Contcept Communication.

Zürich Tourism relies on Wirz for the first time

wirz-logo-pitch

The agency was optimally positioned with a multi-cantonal line-up of Basle, Aargau, Lucerne and Zurich residents and international reinforcement from Argentina to Austria and was able to hold its own against three competitors. The Wirz team convinced Zürich Tourism with a long-term, integrated campaign. Says Marc Bertschinger, head of marketing at Zürich Tourism: "Wirz convinced us with an unconventional, modern approach that links all our important channels." The first works will already be on display in spring.

IMG takes over marketing mandate for Freestyle.ch

img-logo

IMG Switzerland receives a new and exclusive marketing mandate with Freestyle.ch. The organizer Freestyle.ch and the marketing agency agreed on the cooperation. Freestyle.ch is considered the biggest action sports event in Europe, presenting the four disciplines snowboarding, freeskiing, FMX (motorcycling) and skateboarding in competition mode. With 33'000 spectators on the two event days and a worldwide TV broadcast, freestyle.ch counts as a top Swiss event, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

IMG Switzerland is now taking over the exclusive marketing mandate for this with immediate effect, thus offering partners the opportunity to present themselves as sponsors at Freestyle.ch. Peter Hürlimann, CEO of Freestyle.ch, is convinced of the cooperation: "With IMG we have the internationally leading event marketer on our side and with this cooperation there will certainly be many new and good opportunities".

Jürgen Krucker, Managing Director of IMG Switzerland, sees the project as a good platform for sponsors. "The freestyle.ch is a strong product with a large national and international media coverage and many direct contacts on site. The combination of the four integrated sports makes the trendy lifestyle event unique. An excellent opportunity for sponsors to present themselves."

Electronic media on the rise, overall market stable

Advertising intensity on TV, digital out-of-home, and in electronic media as a whole is increasing at the start of the year. Overall, advertising intensity in the market as a whole remains stable. This is shown in the January issue of the Goldbach Index (Gemi).

Digital out of home remains on course for growth in the first month of 2014 and recorded an increase of six index points 692 (686), followed by TV with an increase of five index points 632 (627). After a stable phase, advertising pressure for radio fell by three 423 (426) index points compared to the previous month. Advertising pressure on the Internet continues to be volatile, falling by five index points in January to 742 (753). Teletext lost two index points 59 (61) compared to the previous month and thus continues to decline. Electronic media as a whole gained three index points to close at 636 (633), while advertising pressure in the market as a whole remained stable at 235 (235).

Last but not least: cat music

A girl riding through the neighborhood on a child's bike and singing "We built this City" together with the cat.... Advertising can be so beautiful.

The number one hit released by the group Starship in 1985 is enjoying a second springtime thanks to the British telecoms provider Three. And it cuts a fine figure in the process. In keeping with the campaign claim "Silly Stuff. It matters.", which was launched a year ago with the dancing pony has already provided the greatest amusement. The new motto is: "We all need silly stuff". Responsible for the creation and implementation of the latest prank are again Wieden + Kennedy London and MPC. And as if the sovereignly crafted Silly fireworks were not enough, the campaign also spends a Video generatorwith which Hinz and Kunz can sit on their bicycles singing. (hae)

Roger de Weck brings in another Grisons native

After five years, the Romansh Radio and Television (RTR) must find a new director. Director Mariano Tschuor will move to Bern in October to join the SRG General Directorate, where he will take over as head of the Markets and Quality division.

Mariano Tschuor was elected to the new post by the SRG SSR Board of Directors at the request of Director General Roger de Weck. Tschuor will report directly to de Weck, as SRG announced on Thursday. The 55-year-old Tschuor is the second Grisons native to be brought on board in Bern by the SRG Director General within a short space of time. Maurus Dosch will join the Director General's Office in April. Dosch is Tschuor's deputy and is responsible for finance and personnel at RTR. In Bern, he heads the Planning and Processes division. The position of RTR Director is to be advertised immediately. The outgoing RTR Director Mariano Tschuor has worked for SRG since 1982, initially as an editor at RTR in Chur. He then worked for 13 years in various program functions at the former Schweizer Fernsehen in Zurich. (SDA)

Spina's Civil Voices: Stone Age on the Rhine

For Earth Hour 2014, WWF publishes a rating of the energy efficiency of Swiss municipalities. The result of the survey is disseminated by means of a sensational online and guerrilla campaign by Spina's Civil Voices.

Exemplary municipalities such as St. Gallen receive new place name signs with advantageous names such as St. Geilen.

Thanks to geo-targeting, Facebook users learn about the renaming of their own or the surrounding community. On the campaign website, they are invited to either congratulate their local politicians or give them a leg up. In addition, people can create their own community names. Participants can win professional lighting advice from Micasa worth 2000 Swiss francs. Many national and regional media picked up on the campaign, including Blick am Abend:

Stiftung Warentest recommends Threema

The German consumer organization Stiftung Warentest recommends the Zurich-based app Threema as an alternative to Whatsapp. All other apps tested are rated as critical in terms of data protection.

Since Facebook announced the purchase of Whatsapp (Werbewoche.ch reported), users are leaving the previous market leader in chat apps in droves. The distrust of Facebook's data collection mania is great. For example, the social network already has most of the cell phone numbers of its users and can now easily match them with the address books that Whatsapp has always stored. The conversations are insufficiently encrypted and can consequently be read and evaluated by the provider. This supposed total surveillance is driving many Whatsapp users to alternative products. The competition is happy: Since the billion-euro takeover became known, they have been virtually flooded with new users.

In recent days, the Russian app Telegram has repeatedly been named as a favorite. Hyped by the media ("The best messenger comes from Russia"), the chat app experienced a boom, which brought it up to hundred new users per second in the first half of the year. In the conclusion of the German Product test foundation Telegram - which ironically belongs to the Russian Facebook clone VKontakte - is not fully convincing and is rated critical. The end-to-end encryption has to be activated manually, and the app stores the entire address book without asking and without consent, the testers criticize. And although Telegram is the only app that discloses part of the code, a complete analysis of the encrypted data transmission is not possible.

The app Threema, developed and operated in Zurich, is the only app to receive the rating "non-critical". Address books are only stored with the user's explicit consent and in pseudonymized form. End-to-end encryption prevents the provider from reading conversations. The only complaint is that Threema is not open source and thus cannot be verified and tracked by third parties. (hae)
