Immoscout calls for more apartments on the market

A campaign by Maxomedia for Immoscout 24 aims to shake up the Zurich housing market and thereby increase awareness of the real estate marketplace.

Finding an apartment in Zurich is almost an impossibility. What becomes available is usually sold under the table. The current campaign for Immoscout 24 addresses this shortcoming, according to a press release issued on Monday. To make the portal better known in Zurich, Maxomedia is calling on people to advertise vacant Zurich apartments free of charge under the slogan "Apartments on the market!".

The promotion thus addresses a concern of many apartment seekers. However, it also appeals to the important target group of advertisers: They can use the wide reach of the otherwise fee-based portal free of charge for four weeks.

The centerpiece of the campaign is the microsite Immoscout24.ch/freewhich can be used to advertise apartments free of charge. Tenants can find the latest offers in Zurich in the live feed, send relocation ecards and order moving boxes free of charge. And anyone who orders the campaign flag and attaches it to their home can win a rental apartment.

The militant campaign motto is also reflected in the visual language: elements of revolutionary propaganda meet stylistic elements of street art. In keeping with this, the campaign was teased at the beginning of the year with wild posters and chalk graffiti in Zurich. Two weeks later, Immoscout 24 appeared as the sender.

Photo rejected: Blue Cross criticizes government council

The Blue Cross may file a lawsuit against the Zurich Cantonal Government in federal court. The government does not want to include a certain image in the referendum newspaper in connection with the initiative against alcohol advertising in sports, arguing that it contains advertising.

The picture shows a typical situation from an ice hockey match: two players fight for the puck, while two Swiss beer brands are prominently displayed on their uniforms.

A photo could not correspond better to the content and title of an initiative, writes the Blue Cross in a press release on Monday. However, the government council found the image unfortunate and decided at its meeting last Wednesday to reject the photo for the referendum newspaper.

The government council argues that no advertising should be shown in the voting newspaper. The selected image is unintentional advertising for two alcohol manufacturers.

Representing a ban on advertising without advertising?

The Blue Cross does not understand this attitude. "How are we supposed to represent a ban on advertising if we are not allowed to show any advertising?" said Managing Director Stephan Kunz when asked by SDA.

Blue Cross now has 30 days to take legal action against the government council's decision. To do so, Blue Cross would have to file an appeal directly with the Federal Supreme Court.

The Swiss: Theme month gave rise to discussion

SRG SSR's five audience councils watched the offerings of RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI as part of Theme Month. The majority of the four docu-fiction films were convincing. The overabundance of offerings and the handling of the topic of women were criticized.

The national working group of the presidents of the five audience councils draws a positive conclusion. The theme month triggered various discussions on Swiss history and thus on Swiss identity - but unfortunately not across language regions.

The four docu-fiction films about six politically and historically influential Swiss personalities stood out. The attractive way of informing about history was new for Switzerland and increased the understanding of the time. Television images from that time are otherwise unavailable, so the idea about that time comes mainly from history books.

Other program items, such as the animated film series Helveticus, were perceived as an enriching addition. The many gems from the archive were also well received. For example, radio plays were taken out of the archive and rebroadcast.

The abundance of offers around the theme month seemed to the majority at the upper limit. Less would have been more, was the impression of the majority of the panels. The audience councils also criticized the fact that the chosen perspective on history essentially omitted the role of women. However, the title "The Swiss" was only judged to be inadequate or limiting in German-speaking Switzerland.

The communication around the theme month can still be optimized according to the audience members. Both the overview of what is on offer during the theme month and an explanation of the lack of women could have been provided with prior, broad communication.

The observation results were discussed intensively with those responsible for the program. The recommendations of the audience councils were taken on board. The wish was expressed for SRG to prepare further theme months. For example, a docu-fiction film on the history of the early 20th century would interest the audience council members, as would a possible look into the future of Switzerland. (SDA)

Young people rap for the promotion of young IT talent

Switzerland needs the next generation of IT professionals. Now, the IT-dreamjobs campaign is launching the rap song «Le Sponsor d'Or,» which calls on business leaders to help support the next generation through sponsorship.

Switzerland's fifth-largest economic sector already has a shortage of qualified specialists, which is set to rise to 25,000 by 2020. A broad coalition of representatives from business, science and the public sector therefore launched the IT-dreamjobs campaign in 2013 (Werbewoche.ch reported).

IT-dreamjobs now wants to become active in other regions in addition to Zurich and Bern and intensify its project work, as announced in a press release on Monday. "We have a lot of ideas, for example a nine-month game exhibition with an accompanying educational program for schools," says campaign manager Annette Kielholz. "With any additional support, we can inspire more young talents for computer science and make a lasting impact."

More sponsors are needed for the projects. The rap motivates company bosses to take part in IT-dreamjobs. After all, promoting young talent is actually in the interests of every company that relies on ICT specialists. The song and video clip were produced by young people without professional funding.

"We want to turn brands into carlets."

Rolf Helfenstein and Daniel Serrano are launching a new agency called Karling. Until recently, Helfenstein, a strategist, and Serrano, an art director, worked at Jung von Matt/Limmat.

A "Karling" refers to a particularly striking, freestanding mountain, such as the Matterhorn. Karlings are formed by the erosion of glaciers, which later retreat, leaving the mountain standing alone. The new agency aims to do the same for brands: it shapes them until they have a distinct profile and a unique selling proposition.

Rolf Helfenstein was Managing Director and Head of Consulting at Jung von Matt. As a long-time partner, he played a key role in the agency’s development. Notable achievements included winning the Masters award at Best-of-Swiss-Web, several Effie Awards, and the invention of the Digital Brand Check, a management tool for measuring a brand’s presence across all digital channels—from the web to mobile, tablets, social media, and search.

As an art director, Daniel Serrano helped shape Swiss campaigns such as Migros’ umbrella campaign and the Graubünden ibexes Gian and Giachen. At the 2014 ADC Awards, he took home no fewer than 13 of the coveted awards—including a gold award for the Pro Infirmis campaign, which was viewed approximately 13 million times online and generated around 150 million impressions.

Karling is launching immediately in Zurich as a full-service agency specializing in brand management, advertising, and digital.

Last but not least: What a bus ride is good for

As a commuter, you spend a lot of time on public transport every day. Time that you would like to put to good use.

The campaign by Canadian agency LG 2 gives Quebec City's bus network a fresh image in various short commercials. The agency sees the strength of public transport not only in the fact that it transports us from A to B efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way. It is also the fact that during a long bus ride you can thoroughly reflect on the events and decisions of the day. It's quite possible that after an extended journey home, you suddenly want to invest the next bonus in something completely different. (sis)
