Walker relies on the book medium for Mission 21

To raise funds for Mission 21’s current educational projects, Walker designed a mailing campaign. It relies on the oldest medium of all: the book.

Not one book exactly, but 20'000 different ones. Each novel written in the name of the respective recipient. In the story, an award-winning young author takes the reader to where his donation is desperately needed: To Karim, a boy in a refugee camp in Central Africa. On page 20, the novel is abruptly interrupted and the reader is asked to continue Karim's story. Because the more book pages the reader donates, the better the story will be, according to the mailing's motto.

Contexta: New brand identity for Valais

A major communications campaign to strengthen the brand and its image: Contexta has developed a new brand identity for the Canton of Valais across all channels.

Optimizing synergies, efficiently focusing on customers and actively shaping the Valais image: Valais is meeting these challenges with a new image that is as differentiating as it is emotional. It focuses on the unseen and unknown Valais in order to position and further develop the canton as a unique destination and location brand.

The client is the Valais/Wallis Promotion organization, which has been operational since 2013. As a cross-sectoral promotion company, it is to coordinate the intersectoral marketing of the tourism, agriculture, industry and trade sectors and promote the development of Valais as a canton with high added value. Thus, the new image is also not purely geared to a tourist audience, but involves all interest groups.

Touch, fascinate, motivate. And to strengthen one's own strengths. These are the declared goals of Damian Constantin, Director of Valais/Wallis Promotion: "The new campaign represents a milestone for the Valais brand and is a clear signal for an inner awakening as well as a wonderful invitation to rediscover our canton." Contexta accompanies this departure holistically: In addition to the communicative appearance, the agency is also responsible for a comprehensive customer segmentation, an image study to determine the location as well as for the development of comprehensive partner concepts. For Damian Constantin, crucial pieces of the puzzle on the road to success: "We wanted to get a detailed picture regarding our guests and their attitude towards Valais. Based on the comprehensive segmentation and the studies, we thus have an important basis for successful and sustainable market development," says Constantin.

In the field of tension between rock and heart

For Contexta owner Nadine Borter, this mandate is a very special task: "The Valais never lets go of you as a resident, but also as a guest. The Valais is quite simply a real affair of the heart. For me as a Valaisan and also as an advertiser." So the campaign also paints a completely unique picture of the canton - beyond all Swiss clichés. The communication is exclusively about the strong feelings that the Valais awakens as well as the lasting impression that a visit leaves behind. The new claim condenses this effect: Valais. Carved in the heart. This idea is emotionally charged with a cinematic ode to Valais, which was directed by Christian Aeby. Nadine Borter sees one of the central strengths of the new image in its creative implementation: "This unclichéd visual world and the deliberate non-picture book atmosphere support the unmistakable brand personality, create a differentiating image and break with the established forms of classic tourism advertising. The communicative appearance continues to include advertisements, launch promotions, social media measures, an image brochure, a corporate brochure and events. The Online portal was completely redeveloped in successful cooperation with Hinderling Volkart.

Consistent brand story across all channels

The new brand identity covers all relevant economic sectors and makes Valais a matter of the heart. Against the backdrop of pressure from the consequences of the financial and euro crisis, increasing competition, and not always positive media coverage, Damian Constantin believes the time has come for a turning point and appeals for a self-confident focus on cantonal strengths: "We want to actively influence the image of our canton again ourselves. Tell our own story and shape the image of Valais with it."

Goldbach Interactive supports the bees

Goldbach Interactive supports the ongoing bee campaign of Coop, Weleda, Ricola and Biotta: A microsite with competition is to create awareness and generate donations for four Swiss bee and young beekeeper projects.

Honey bees and wild bees are essential for nature and humans: For productive agriculture, a healthy diet and a diverse nature, we need bees - and people who are committed to the preservation of bees. Goldbach Interactive therefore supports an initiative of Coop, Weleda, Ricola and Biotta out of conviction: For every product purchased with a special bee voucher at Coop, the aforementioned partners donate one franc in favor of four Swiss bee projects.

The microsite realized by Goldbach Interactive Probienen.ch is the digital hub of the campaign. It provides insights into the living world of bees and encourages people to think. What would a world without bees look like? How can each individual contribute to the well-being of our bees? The fact that the microsite does not appear cumbersome despite the serious topic is due not least to a simple, clear information structure. Built-in animations and a concise visual language bring the world of bees to life for a broad audience. By answering competition questions, every visitor can test their bee knowledge - and win attractive prizes.

Anibis.ch now a brand of Scout24

As part of a merger, the classifieds platform Anibis.ch will be integrated into Switzerland's largest network of online marketplaces. Scout24 has been wholly owned by Ringier Digital since early 2014.

The five companies Classifieds Business Beteiligungs- und Verwaltungs AG, Scout24 Holding, Scout24 Schweiz, Xmedia and Anibis were merged retroactively as of January 1, 2014 to form Scout24 Schweiz, according to a statement on Tuesday. Anibis.ch thus becomes the new brand of Scout24 Switzerland. All companies were already previously wholly owned subsidiaries of Ringier Digital. The reasons for the merger lie in the simplification of the structure as well as in the optimization of the organizational and operational structure of the Ringier Digital Group. Patrik Hagi (Director anibis.ch) and Jean-Daniel Graf (Chief Information Officer) are the new additions to the Scout24 management team. As the largest Swiss classifieds platform, anibis.ch is a valuable addition to Scout24 Switzerland's offering, according to a statement. Together with the specialized marketplaces AutoScout24, MotoScout24 and ImmoScout24, Switzerland's largest classified network reaches 1.9 million unique users* per month (source: NET-Metrix Profile 2014-1).

Last but not least: Social scavenger hunt

A rich man hides money in San Francisco and gives hints via Twitter where to find it. The followers are thrilled.

The profile is named @HiddenCash and has only existed for a few days. Nevertheless, more than 57'000 followers have already joined the unknown Twitter. Money is always a good argument. The anonymous donor has more than enough of it thanks to real estate deals and wants to let his fellow human beings share in his financial good fortune. But not without having a little fun himself on the side.

"I am determined to give away some of the money I make, and in addition to charity, to do it in fun, creative ways like this."

The millionaire hides $100 and $20 bills in and around San Francisco. He then gives his followers more or less difficult clues as to where the money can be found. Usually it's a photo of a spot - whoever knows where it is and gets there first gets the money. The lucky finder is invited to tweet a photo of himself and the money.

twittertwitter

Whether it's really just a patronizing millionaire behind the action is anyone's guess. The unknown Twitterer states that he is not pursuing any economic goals and is only acting out of charity and fun. If the monetary scavenger hunt were the result of an imaginative agency idea, then one would have to take one's hat off. Because for so much global attention and social media enthusiasm, you normally pay more than a few thousand francs out of petty cash. Malicious tongues could also remark that it is in bad taste to rush the "common people" through world history for a few dollars for one's own amusement. Or one could admit to oneself: The bottom line is that everyone involved has fun with it, and many a wealthy person has certainly already thrown his money out of the window in sillier ways. (hae)

Complaints against "Rundschau" rejected

SRG Ombudsman Achille Casanova has dismissed all complaints regarding the «Rundschau» report on the Gripen fighter jet. The program did not violate the principle of factual accuracy.

After the broadcast, the ombudsman's office received 110 complaints (Werbewoche.ch reported). The unusually large number of submissions was unique and was due to the appeal by the "Pro-Fighter Aircraft Information Group" on the Internet, according to the Inside SRG SSR newsletter published on Tuesday. This had included instructions on how to write a letter of protest.

Accusation of one-sidedness

The Gripen film report on "Rundschau" and the subsequent interview with Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer caused a stir in mid-April. Many viewers vented their anger by sending an e-mail to the SRG ombudsman. Many complaints described the report as "one-sided and propaganda against Gripen," according to the newsletter. The critics considered the comparison with the air forces of other European countries to be questionable. In addition, some viewers saw the German arms expert as not neutral. He had described the procurement of Gripen as too expensive and unnecessary. The way moderator Sandro Brotz conducted the discussion was also seen as disturbing. He had acted arrogantly and aggressively toward the defense minister.

Conversation "cures" shortcomings of the film

The SRG ombudsman also criticized the film report. The report did not meet "the high standards of balance required in the run-up to a referendum". In addition, important aspects in favor of Gripen were hardly taken into account, according to a reply from Casanova to one of the complainants. The one-sidedness of the film was, however, "largely cured" by the subsequent nine-minute discussion with Federal Councillor Maurer. Maurer had been able to explain his point of view in detail and "comprehensively contradict" the most important points of criticism raised in the film. According to Casanova, the moderator's questions were "sometimes unnecessarily provocative" or "simply banal" - but Brotz never lost the required decorum. He also asked the "inherently problematic questions" transparently and openly. His interlocutor Ueli Maurer had cleverly used the opportunity offered to make the case for Gripen. Ombudsman Casanova therefore came to the conclusion that the audience was perfectly capable of "forming its own opinion". (SDA)

Takeover bid from Tamedia for Publigroupe

Tamedia remains committed to its goal of acquiring Publigroupe and published the offer prospectus on Tuesday. The price of 190 francs per share stated in the prospectus corresponds to the highest purchase price Tamedia has paid for Publigroupe shares in recent weeks.

The Swiss media group Tamedia is sticking to its goal of acquiring Publigroupe. On Tuesday, May 27, 2014, Tamedia published the detailed offer prospectus as required by takeover law. Tamedia already owns 17.6 percent of Publigroupe shares and is therefore its largest shareholder. The purchase price of CHF 190 per share contained in the prospectus corresponds to the highest purchase price paid by Tamedia for Publigroupe shares in recent weeks. The offer period begins on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 and currently ends on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 4:00 pm. The offer price corresponds to a premium of 50 percent on the last closing price of the Publigroupe share (CHF 126.60) prior to the publication of the pre-announcement by Tamedia. The premium compared to the weighted average price of the Publigroupe share (CHF 123.41) during the last 60 trading days prior to the publication of the pre-announcement is 54 percent.

The telecommunications group Swisscom announced a competing takeover bid at a price of CHF 200 on May 16, 2014. Swisscom's offer prospectus must be published by Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the latest, as Tamedia writes in a press release on Tuesday. Swisscom's offer would then be open for acceptance from June 27, 2014 until July 24, 2014, 4:00 pm. In this case, Tamedia's offer period would also be extended until July 24, 2014, 4:00 pm. Tamedia may amend its Offer no later than on the fifth trading day prior to its extended expiry.

By acquiring the stake in Local.ch held by Publigroupe, Tamedia intends to further strengthen its position in the directory business and develop even more attractive offers for small and medium-sized companies in the growing online market. Tamedia already holds a 75 percent stake in Search.ch, the leading directory and information platform in the user market.

The public purchase offer from Tamedia

Battle for the ground team

Insights and Speculation on the Looming Publigroupe Takeover. By Christoph J. Walther

It will definitely be a drama and certainly an exciting one: The takeover battle for Publigroupe will keep the media industry spellbound as summer theater. On the one hand, there is the decline of the former "P" empire - a story that is sure to be reminisced about many times. And secondly, the battle between two current rivals who covet the rest of the empire. First, a brief chronology of the final chapter in this story of a foretold demise: April 2, 2014: advertising broker Publigroupe divests itself of the traditional advertising business and sells its subsidiary Publicitas to the German company Aurelius. April 17, 2014: Tamedia publishes a pre-announcement of a public takeover bid for Publigroupe, offering CHF 150 per share. April 25, 2014: Swisscom submits a non-binding offer of CHF 230 million to Publigroupe for the shares held by PubliGroupe in LTV Gelbe Seiten AG and Swisscom Directories AG. The local.ch business, which was previously managed as a joint venture, would thus be fully owned by Swisscom. May 14, 2014: Tamedia acquires the Publigroupe shares previously held by the investment company Tweedy Browne LLC at CHF 190 per share, giving it a 17.6 per cent shareholding. This makes Tamedia the largest shareholder in PubliGroupe. May 16, 2014: Swisscom publishes a pre-announcement for a public tender offer for Publigroupe shares at a price of CHF 200 per share.

Takeover Commission coordinates bidding rounds

The next stages are foreseeable due to the legal requirements (primarily in the provisions of the Federal Act on Stock Exchanges and Securities Trading, "Stock Exchange Act" or SESTA). The Takeover Board (TOB) has a central role to play. Under the SESTA, this federal authority is responsible for ensuring that public takeover offers comply with the statutory provisions. It defines general principles and coordinates the process in individual cases, for example when the timing of several offers has to be coordinated.

Last winter, the battle between AEVIS Holding SA and Swiss Private Hotel AG for Victoria-Jungfrau Collection AG showed how such a takeover battle can unfold. AEVIS Holding's pre-announcement at the end of October and the publication of an offer prospectus at the beginning of November (CHF 250 per share) were followed shortly before Christmas by Swiss Private Hotel AG's pre-announcement (CHF 277). A few days later, AEVIS published the first amendment to the prospectus and extended the offer deadlines due to the counter-offer in accordance with the requirements of the TOB. In a second prospectus amendment on January 23, AEVIS increased the offer price to CHF 305. This affects the deadlines for the offer by Swiss Private Hotel AG, which follows suit a week later and increases the offer price to CHF 310 (which in turn affects the deadlines for the AEVIS offer). In mid-February, AEVIS Holding also offers CHF 310 with a fourth prospectus amendment. In March, both opponents first publish provisional, then definitive interim results and finally the definitive final result of AEVIS Holding makes it clear that it is the winner - above all because it was able to acquire significant third-party shareholdings.

Call Lanz for Pro Audito: call for beard donations

To mark its 100th anniversary, Pro Audito Bern has commissioned Ruf Lanz to raise even greater awareness of the concerns of people with hearing impairments. The agency is launching a call for beard and mustache donations.

Around 800'000 people in Switzerland are affected by a hearing impairment. pro audito bern is committed to making life easier for this population group. The result for the anniversary is probably the most unusual fundraising campaign in Switzerland. For once, there is no need to donate money, blood, clothes or blankets. Instead, men are being asked to donate their beard or moustache. With good reason: people with hearing disabilities depend on being able to read the lips of the other person. And it is precisely this lip-reading that is made much more difficult by the beards and moustaches that are currently in vogue and sprouting up everywhere.

Ruf Lanz convinced those responsible at Pro Audito Bern with numerous creative proposals, according to a statement. "We were spoiled for choice," said Alfred Pauli, chairman of the project group. The call for beard or mustache donations will be launched through a national TV spot. It was directed by Los Angeles-based Swiss Serge Höltschi (Condor Films). The so-called French Street in one of Warner Brothers' studios in Hollywood served as the backdrop. Other measures are also used, such as the confession buttons for brave donors.
