Pink: Image campaign created for Startups.ch

Rosarot created an image campaign with posters and radio spots under the tagline "Make your baby with us" for the Swiss startup portal Startups.ch.

The Swiss company Startups.ch has been advising and supporting young entrepreneurs since 2005. In the meantime, more than 7,000 young companies have successfully taken their first steps towards independence thanks to Startups.ch. With the goal of making Startups.ch and its services more widely known in Switzerland, Rosarot has created and implemented an image campaign. Surveys show that the feeling of creating something of one's own is one of the most important arguments when starting a new business. With this in mind, the Zurich advertising agency created the tagline "Make your baby with us". The ambiguous approach is intended to surprise and force the viewer to think about the topic. Based on this, rosarot has realized various poster and advertisement subjects and an acoustic interpretation in the form of a radio spot.

Roger Schawinski drops out of Kein & Aber

Media entrepreneur Roger Schawinski is ending his involvement with the publishing house Kein & Aber. This is reported by the newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag in its latest issue.

According to the report, Schawinski not only handed over the chairmanship of the board of directors to publisher Peter Haag, but also sold him all his shares in the publishing house. Around a third of Kein & Aber is said to have belonged to the owner of Radio 1 and Radio 105. According to Haag, Schawinski remains an author at the publishing house and is resigning for personal reasons. The Zurich media entrepreneur and radio pioneer joined Kein & Aber in 2007 when the publisher was in financial trouble and subscribed to shares worth 1.8 million francs. (hae)

Last but not least: Books in Wolf's Clothing

Ecuadorians prefer to read tabloids rather than books—much to the chagrin of booksellers. To change this, McCann set a trap.

Another episode from the series «Ad Agencies Solve Social Problems.» The a sleepy Mexican driver We saw that last week. Leo Burnett helped English drivers get used to the Drinking, Publicis gave Mexican female drivers the Makeup ... Albanian drivers, who only let pedestrians cross the street when there is a funeral procession, and who McCann Tirana Proves Them Wrong ...would also have fit into the series.

So today, we’re talking about the Ecuadorians who are «lazy readers.» Although “lazy readers” isn’t quite accurate. They do read—at least from the perspective of the Librería Española bookstore—they just read the wrong things. Namely, tabloid newspapers in the popular tabloid format. Sensational stories all day long.

sens

In contrast, real books without colorful pictures, sensational headlines, and scandalous stories have a hard time competing. Unless, that is, you package them in a way that makes them visually speak the same language. McCann produced a tabloid-format newspaper and filled it with scandalous stories, big headlines, and equally large photos. The twist: All the sensational stories were taken from bestsellers in the traditional book market. At the end of each article was the note: «If this story caught your attention, you have to read the book XY.» The effect was immediate: Not only did the entire print run of the newspaper sell out and people on the street discuss the stories—the bookstore also saw nearly a 30 percent increase in foot traffic during the campaign. B-Public agency on course for expansion

B-Public, an agency specializing in marketing, communications, and IT solutions founded in 2012, has hired Madeleine Stäubli-Roduner, a veteran business editor, as its new consultant.

Madeleine Stäubli-Roduner was most recently Head of the Management Department at Handelszeitung. The historian and German studies graduate worked in the media industry for 25 years, primarily as a business journalist. At Handelszeitung, the 49-year-old was responsible for leadership, communications, diversity, marketing and advertising. She was responsible for the advertising supplement "Effie" on several occasions. She cultivated versatile contacts with management consultants, leadership and personnel experts and advertising professionals. Previously, she worked for several years as business editor at the Zürcher Oberländer.

With this addition, B-Public has additional potential in the comprehensive support of its clients, according to a statement. It offers a seamless service package for domestic and foreign fund companies and banks, covering the entire German-speaking region. "In-depth expertise at the product level and a high level of understanding of investor needs allow us to design and implement creative and efficient approaches to communications," explains agency founder Markus Baumgartner. This also includes customized tools for the creation of fund factsheets, reporting and innovative web solutions. In addition to founder Markus Baumgartner, who has more than 30 years of experience in the financial sector and in business communication, marketing specialist Thomas Egger and business IT specialist Daniel Jazbec are working as equal partners.

Natascha Schwyn becomes domestic TV correspondent

«Tagesschau» editor Natascha Schwyn will become the new domestic TV correspondent for the cantons of Aargau and Solothurn. She succeeds Olivier Parvex-Käppeli, who has returned to «Schweiz aktuell» as a producer.

Natascha Schwyn, 39, has been living in Buchs near Aarau for several years. She studied ethnology, folklore, and MGU (Human-Society-Environment) in Basel and Lausanne and received her licentiate degree in 2003. She also completed a two-year diploma program in journalism at the Swiss School of Journalism (Maz) in Lucerne, graduating in 2009. From 2004 to 2007, Natascha Schwyn worked at Tele Bielingue, and from 2007 to 2011 at Tele Bärn in various roles, including as an editor, video journalist, and news director. In April 2011, she joined the «Tagesschau» news program at Swiss Radio and Television as an editor. Natascha Schwyn will begin her role as domestic correspondent in late fall 2014.

Barbara Flückiger, Head of Domestic TV Correspondents: «With Natascha Schwyn, I’ve been able to bring on board a highly competent and experienced «Tagesschau» editor as our domestic correspondent. I’m very pleased and confident that she and Noëmi Ackermann will make an excellent team.»

A third interested party is courting Publigroupe

As reported by the NZZ am Sonntag, a third party has joined Tamedia and Swisscom in the battle for Publigroupe. The third party is reportedly a foreign company.

The newspaper bases this on "a person who is well informed about the processes within Publigroupe". The source does not want to reveal which company is involved - a non-disclosure agreement has been signed to provide insight into the figures. The author assumes that the person did not disclose the information without self-interest: speculation about another bidder could cause the share price to rise further. On Friday evening, the share price closed at just under CHF 211, significantly higher than the CHF 200 offered by Swisscom a week ago.

Speculation about the third competitor for Publigroupe is difficult: as many publishers and companies are currently looking for new digital business models and the attractive Local.ch portal is therefore likely to be in demand beyond the borders, the field of potential interested parties is large. One possible candidate would be the publishing house Axel Springer, which is currently focusing heavily on digital business and already holds 52 percent of the digital marketing company Zanox - Publigroupe owns the rest. However, when asked by NZZ am Sonntag, Axel Springer would not comment further on Publigroupe: They are not involved in the proceedings, they are not in talks and they do not comment on market speculation. «Please don't vote for me" for the 2014 Advertiser of the Year, if you can find one

– that only an active CEO or CD of an agency deserves this title, and not someone who, while having held both positions for many years, now heads only Switzerland’s largest owner-managed communications group

– that the person is ultimately more important than the agency, even though the agency has been around for 78 years

– that Wirz hasn’t just been «back in business» since last year, and that there is therefore no reason to honor the executive who shares responsibility for this—of all people—with a title right now, one that refers only to a single year and not to the many years of successful work by a well-organized and well-coordinated team

– that the position of newly elected president of bsw leading swiss agencies is already honor enough in itself

– and that Frank Bodin didn't win until his 10th nomination, not his 5th.»

"Letter of Recommendation Advertiser of the year

I love my job as an advertising professional. There’s no other profession that brings together so many interesting tasks. As advertising professionals, we have to sense the spirit of the times by observing people and their behavior and drawing insights from them. We have to constantly monitor media usage to know how to reach target audiences today and tomorrow. We have to be able to think creatively even when we’re up to our necks in work. We have to find the right five words out of millions that solve a client’s page-long challenge. We have to be able to sell those five words in a compelling way, and protect, nurture, and care for them through working groups and committees, over weeks and months. I love my work because it seems so simple, yet it’s incredibly complex. As Advertiser of the Year, I would advocate for our industry to rediscover the courage not to constantly sell itself short. Because it’s time for all of us to shift into high gear—otherwise, we’ll be left behind.»

Rod communication

Regula Fecker is one of four partners at the Rod agency. Named Strategist and Advertiser of the Year in 2010, she is jointly responsible for the current «Love Life – Don’t Regret a Thing» campaign, as well as for many other popular campaigns, such as «Slow down. Take it easy.» In addition, she is passionate about conducting research on the Swiss advertising industry. In 2012, Fecker was elected to the Board of Directors of SRG.

«Between Busswil, Suberg, and Grossaffoltern"

Our agency’s mission is actually quite simple: it’s always about the relationship between people and brands. We’re guided by a few core beliefs:

We believe that a strategy is essential—regardless of the task, the budget, or the size of the client. We are convinced that brand management and sales go hand in hand, and that creativity, when used correctly, significantly enhances the impact of communication. And we’re thrilled that the digital age is really taking off now.

New and diverse opportunities create room for personalized communication and individual interaction between companies, brands, and people. And they give a voice to all those who engage seriously with their counterparts—whether consumers, friends, or critics.

»I am deliberately highlighting campaigns by innovative small and medium-sized enterprises here. If you cast your vote for me, you are also voting for effective communication that originates and makes an impact outside the major urban centers."

«It's time to rethink things and to look ahead. Thanks to digital possibilities, we are at a turning point in communication.

We should stop talking about a crisis and instead recognize the opportunities that digital advancements bring to advertising. Never before have we had the opportunity to make advertising so entertaining, dynamic, and relevant.

The days of pure interruptive advertising are over. Consumers are not passive recipients; they are well-informed and can publicly express their opinions. That is why we must take them seriously and give them what they are looking for.

Good advertising is not perceived as intrusive, but rather as an enrichment.

Advertising is needed to give consumers what they're looking for. Or better yet: to give them what they'll be looking for in the future.

»As Advertiser of the Year and as a 'digital ambassador,' I want to work to ensure that the digital transformation of marketing is utilized in a modern and creative way in the field of advertising as well."

Hinderling Volkart

After completing his studies in graphic and media design, Michael Hinderling gained his first professional experience at various web and motion design agencies. After three years as an art director and a trip around the world, he co-founded the web agency Hinderling Volkart with Michael Volkart in 2007; the agency now employs 25 people. After just a few years, the agency has already reached third place in the Best of Swiss Web ranking (overall ranking of all agencies in Switzerland) and first place in the «Creation» category. Michael Hinderling is a lecturer at the BSW Creative School and a juror for various award organizations.

«Pierre Meier told me about I was informed of the nomination by phone. It is a great honor to be nominated for »Advertiser of the Year” for the fourth time. On the one hand, it is recognition of a strong year’s performance, marked by winning the Raiffeisen account, being named the most successful agency at the ADC Switzerland, and winning two of four gold medals at the EFFIE Switzerland. On the other hand, it’s recognition for many creative highlights over an extended period, with campaigns for clients such as Graubünden, Migros, Mercedes-Benz, NZZ, Max Shoes, and Pro Infirmis. We live in exciting times. The invention of the computer, the spread of the internet, and the rise of social media have opened doors wide for us. That’s exactly what motivates me to come into the agency every day and tinker with new communication solutions alongside our teams. Ideas that move people and brands. That’s what I want to dedicate myself to. And, of course, world peace.”

«So what is my message as «If I were to be named »Advertiser of the Year,«» I was asked, "my motto would be something like, 'Success requires a willingness to change.'".

Change means more self-confidence: Never has a good idea been more valuable than it is today, when the public’s favor is becoming increasingly difficult to buy. Yet we continue to sell our ideas short and prefer to make money through interchangeable implementation services. It would be more self-assured to consider fee models with performance-based components.

More Openness: Marketing and Corporate Communications—Does This Division Still Make Sense? With Facebook, Twitter, and the like, these areas are converging anyway, and besides, we come up with much better ideas when we work together.

More curiosity: Take, for example, the «Cast» program, where young people learn to create «content.» Despite their knowledge, they have a hard time finding a job because they refuse to fit into the traditional art director/copywriter mold. Just one or two interns from that field, and you’ve got a breath of fresh air for the entire agency.

Or, as Franz Kafka said: »Paths are created by walking them.”

Farner Consulting

Philipp Skrabal began his professional career in 1985 at the ZHdK in Zurich; he landed his apprenticeship as a graphic designer while working as a graffiti artist. In 2004, Skrabal joined Publicis as Creative Director; he later became Executive Creative Director and a member of the executive board at Advico Young & Rubicam, then co-owner and Creative Director at Wirz. Since August 2014, he has served as COO at Farner Consulting. As a member of the ADC’s Executive Board, he is responsible for the Training Division. His most recent work was recently honored with four Silver EFFIEs and the Crossmedia Award in Gold.

Publicis: That from up there now also down there

Publicis has created a launch campaign for Calanda. The goal is to introduce the beer to a wider audience in the Unterland region as well.

Calanda is the beer from up there - brewed from the purest Graubünden mountain spring water. And although Calanda is already a well-known and established Swiss beer brand, until now it was rarely found in the Unterland. Until now. From now on, Calanda will be available in all major Coop stores throughout German-speaking Switzerland and in Ticino. In order to make the increased availability known to a wide audience, Publicis realized a surprising and entertaining launch campaign. It dramatizes not only the fact that what's from up there is now also available down there, but also that with every bottle, a part of Graubünden's joie de vivre and spirit of adventure finds its way to the lowlands - by whatever means. In addition to a cheerful television commercial, the campaign includes numerous online measures. The campaign started on May 5 and will run until the end of the summer.

Author and filmmaker Louis Jent died

The writer, screenwriter, director, and commercial filmmaker Louis Jent has died. He passed away at the age of 78 in Aarau, his family announced on Friday. Jent’s greatest successes were the novel *Ausflüchte* (1965) and the film *Das sexte Programm* (1971).

«Louis Jent suffers from having too many professions»: That’s how the online literary magazine *Null* once introduced him. Born on January 26, 1936, in Zurich, Louis Jent published his first short stories while still a teenager. After graduating from high school, he wrote literary and film reviews. His greatest artistic triumph came in 1963 when he was invited to the famous Gruppe 47 gathering in Saulgau. Nevertheless, after publishing two books—the novel *Ausflüchte* and the short story collection *Lächle noch einmal, Cynthia*—he put his literary career on hold and became a screenwriter at the German studio Bavaria, then a screenwriter and director at the Zurich-based Condor Films.

Moving to Spain

From 1971 to 1989, Jent produced commercials through his own production company, some of which won awards. He then moved to Spain, where, by his own account, he tried his hand at the visual arts. During that time, he was one of the first writers to discover the similarities between cyberspace and literary imagination—in the reinvention of the self. He began writing again and has been publishing his texts since 2009 on platforms such as Facebook. In his penultimate post there, he was looking for a housekeeper for his new apartment in Aarau. And in his last post, he was seeking a publisher for his short stories, «15 Attempts to Grow Old Alone.» (SDA)
