La Folie: Facebook action for Subaru

The live marketing agency La Folie Erlebniskultur was commissioned by Subaru Switzerland to run a Facebook campaign during the 2014 DJ Bobo Tour.

The campaign took place before the concerts on May 29 in Basel's St. Jakobshalle, May 30 in Bern's PostFinance Arena and May 31 in Zurich's Hallenstadion. A photo wall was set up in the entrance/interior area of the concert halls. The design was based on the DJ Bobo circus world and depicted a circus ring with a Subaru model. In front of the photo wall, various circus objects such as trampolines, juggling balls and hula hoops were available for the concert visitors to pose with. There, interested people were allowed to be photographed by a professional photographer. The photos in front of the photo wall can be viewed at the Subaru Switzerland Facebook page be viewed. The Facebook campaign also has a humanitarian purpose. Because DJ Bobo is fighting hunger worldwide as a National Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Subaru Switzerland is donating one franc to the WFP for every new Facebook fan.

New regional business magazine for Zurich

The new magazine *Der Geschäftsführer Zürich* is now on the market: a platform dedicated to Zurich as a business hub.

Smaller and innovative companies, or rather their responsible personalities, are given a journalistic home here, according to a press release issued by the publishing house on Wednesday. The content is rounded off with tips for business lunches, style issues, leisure and other journalistic formats.

The magazine offers advertisers the opportunity to place their campaigns in the clearly defined market of the Zurich economic region with a precise target group. Francesco Ciringione, publisher of Prestige Media International, emphasizes: "With Managing Director Basel, we are now in our ninth year of very successful publication. The exciting combination of business reports, interviews and portraits with interesting personalities from the region has proved its worth. The time was now ripe to launch a journalistic start in Zurich."

Felder Vogel designs cross-media LUKB magazines

Felder Vogel designed the new issues of the magazines *Chefsache* (business banking), *Privatsache* (private banking), and *Tresor* (a brand magazine and supplement to *Chefsache* and *Privatsache*) for Luzerner Kantonalbank (LUKB).

The agency has been responsible for the magazines since fall 2012. They are an important part of corporate communication and contribute to the "perceived" customer benefit, among other things, the agency said in a press release on Wednesday. The magazines are also available electronically.

Video productions complement the printed matter cross-media:

Press Council: SDA reporting on Elmer trial was correct

The SDA news agency did not violate the duty to hear both sides while reporting on an ongoing lawsuit filed by former Julias-Bär banker Rudolf Elmer against *Die Weltwoche*. This is the conclusion reached by the Press Council.

The SDA had made a permissible assessment, the Press Council said in a ruling published Wednesday. The complaint by Weltwoche editor Alexander Baur was rejected. He had objected to SDA's coverage of Elmer's lawsuit against Weltwoche. He complained that the SDA had violated the "Declaration of the Duties and Rights of Journalists" in two points.

The SDA report of July 3, 2013, refers to a decision of the Zurich District Court. The court had ruled that Weltwoche had to prove its accusations against Elmer within 20 days. The SDA then made the assessment that Elmer had achieved an "interim success" in court. In doing so, the agency had created a false impression because the court had rejected a request by Elmer for a precautionary measure, Baur claimed. The Press Council sees this differently: The evaluation is permissible from a professional ethics point of view.

The "interim success" refers to the deadline set for Weltwoche to provide evidence for its accusations and not to the rejection of Elmer's request for a precautionary measure. Therefore, the freedom of comment had not been violated by the SDA.

No obligation to consult

The second point of the Weltwoche editor's complaint, according to which the SDA would have been obliged to invite him or his employer to comment, was also rejected. "There is no obligation to seek the opinion of those involved in the proceedings on (interim) decisions," the Press Council wrote.

In addition, the editor and Weltwoche had not been accused of any illegal conduct. Thus, no serious allegations were discernible on which the SDA would have had to hear the persons concerned. (SDA)

Syndicom: Local.ch CLA should also apply to Search.ch

The Syndicom union welcomes the agreement between Swisscom and Tamedia to merge the service providers Local.ch and Search.ch into a joint subsidiary. For Syndicom, it is clear that the future company must be subject to the Local.ch collective bargaining agreement.

The end of the bidding war will put an end to price gouging on the stock exchange, Syndicom wrote in a press release on Wednesday, calling for the new joint venture to be subject to Local.ch's collective labor agreement (CLA). The clear ownership structure, with Swisscom holding a 69 percent majority stake, offers the employees of Local.ch and Search.ch good future prospects of being subject to the Local.ch CLA and thus benefiting from good working conditions. Syndicom appealed to Tamedia and Swisscom to assume their social responsibility towards their employees and not to make any job cuts. All Search.ch and Local.ch employees should continue to be employed on an equal footing.

Swisscom and Tamedia want to further develop directory services together

Swisscom and Tamedia agree on a joint approach in the market for directory services. Following the takeover of Publigroupe by Swisscom, Tamedia intends to incorporate the Local.ch and Search.ch operations into a joint subsidiary.

Swisscom is to hold 69 percent of this subsidiary and Tamedia 31 percent. This was announced by Tamedia and Swisscom on Wednesday. Tamedia is thus withdrawing from the takeover offer of 190 francs per share (Werbewoche.ch reported). Swisscom had already registered an offer of 200 francs per share on May 16.

Tamedia has agreed with Swisscom not to increase its offer any further and to tender the Publigroupe shares it holds to Swisscom if the latter's takeover bid is successful, the statement continues. The public takeover offers will otherwise continue in accordance with the applicable regulations.

The acquisition of Publigroupe by Swisscom and the partnership between Swisscom and Tamedia are subject to approval by the competition authorities.

Read the background and speculative information on the pending Publigroupe takeover now in the current print edition of Werbewoche.

Casalini: Only those who train ride well

Casalini Advertising Agency, on behalf of the Swiss Road Safety Council, has launched the three-year accident prevention campaign «Besserfahrer.ch.» It encourages drivers to regularly attend driver safety courses.

The overarching aim of the campaign is to encourage e-bikers, car drivers and motorcyclists to attend voluntary driving safety courses so that the number of road accidents can be reduced in the long term. The TV commercial is an important tool in the campaign, the agency said in a press release on Wednesday. In addition to the TV commercial, Casalini is relying on a mix of traditional and new media to achieve the change in behavior. The message is deliberately kept simple: "You can only be a better driver if you keep on learning".

Do something for your relationship

As part of a campaign for the Shopping Arena, Ammarkt is highlighting the theme of relationship building.

The number of single households is rising, every second marriage ends in divorce and, despite digital networking, more and more people feel lonely. Yet we need real social contact because it makes us happy and healthy. Studies show that relationships have a positive effect on mental and physical health and therefore significantly increase life expectancy and quality of life. It is therefore worth cultivating relationships with friends, partners, children, parents or work colleagues.

The Ammarkt agency takes this insight and stages the topic of relationship management with an umbrella campaign for the Shopping Arena - the largest shopping center in Eastern Switzerland. Whether it's a small gift or a big present, the Shopping Arena offers everything you need for a good relationship under one roof.

In addition to well-known advertising measures such as posters, advertisements, radio spots, POS advertising and a redesign of the website, the campaign also includes a specially created radio program on the subject of relationships on the FM 1 radio station.

Responsible at Shopping Arena: Marc Schäfer (Center Manager), Fabienne Diez (Marketing Manager). Responsible at Ammarkt: Ralf Kostgeld (Creative Direction), Nicole Bernhardsgrütter (Art Direction), Aron Herz, Markus Tränkle (Text), Christian Brunner (Graphics), Marcel Odermatt, Patrizia Mazzucchelli, Lea Hobi (Consulting), Amanda Camenisch (Photography), Alexander Herzog; Red Departement (Image Processing), Hastings (Radio Spots).

FIFA may not collect anything for public viewing

During the World Cup in Brazil, organizers of public viewings in Switzerland enjoy a special privilege: the guidelines of the Fifa World Football Association do not apply to them. This is particularly good news for the hosts.

Not only are FIFA's guidelines invalid. Fifa is also not allowed to impose any restrictions on advertising or sponsorship, or on the range of products or services on offer. This is the result of a long-standing legal dispute. Although this was fought out by the European Football Association Uefa, the result also applies to the world football association Fifa.

Uefa had insisted on its own license for broadcasts on screens with a diagonal of more than three meters during the Euro 2008 football championship. However, the Federal Administrative Court ruled that Uefa may not ask the organizers of public viewings to pay.

Nevertheless, FIFA expects all public viewing events in Switzerland to be carried out in accordance with FIFA guidelines, as a spokesperson for the world football association announced. Fifa is of the opinion that the organizers and owners of the corresponding broadcasting rights should have the final say on the use of such broadcasting rights.

License with Suisa

Even in Switzerland, you can't do it without a license: anyone who offers their guests the opportunity to watch the football tournament in a publicly accessible place must obtain a license from Suisa, the cooperative of authors and publishers of music. Fees are charged depending on the size of the screen. If the screen measures less than three meters diagonally, nothing has to be paid - provided the organizer is already a Billag customer for television reception. For larger models, event organizers have to fork out between CHF 312 and CHF 1248 to be allowed to show all matches. If they charge admission, the fees are twice as high. (SDA)

Last but not least: Doesn't seem to be good for anything

The latest video in the YouTube series «Kids React» shows how a group of American children reacts to an old Apple computer from the 1970s.

The children, who would otherwise probably be able to handle their own laptops with ease, carry out the tasks rather clumsily. They don't even manage to switch it on - the  Operation is far too anti-intuitive. They are not particularly enthusiastic about this box, which is far too big and doesn't support apps, games and websites. Conclusion: "This used to be the pinnacle of technology. Today it doesn't seem to be good for anything anymore." Fortunately, the previous generation saw more potential in the big box - and kept on developing it further. (sis)
