Regio campaign for Homegate

TBS & Partner is using headlines in local dialects to draw attention to the Swiss real estate portal in the Bern and Valais regions.

The client's brief was clearly defined from the outset: To increase awareness of the Homegate.ch real estate portal in the Bern and Valais regions as efficiently as possible in the shortest possible time, while at the same time emphasizing its ease of use.

In order to achieve this goal, TBS & Partner developed the following campaign idea: dialect headlines were used to bring the comprehensive range of services closer to the target group, real estate seekers from the Bern and Valais regions. So that the regional
competence is also visually expressed on the posters, mobile banners, display banners and advertisements, the subjects are also to be decorated with tourist-style emblem stickers.
be decorated.

Since the end of June, the dialect questions and answers have been used in various media titles as well as on megaposters and posters. The message behind all the German and French-language variations on the theme of property searches is always the same: whatever you're looking for, you're sure to find it at Homegate.ch.

Four subjects each were placed for the Bern region and for Upper and Lower Valais, with the headlines also taking on the function of a teaser depending on the format chosen - for example on the first and second cover pages of the commuter newspaper 20minuten. If you would like to discover all the subjects of the Regio campaign, you can find them here here.

No expansion of the shareholder structure of Le Temps

Ringier has decided to keep Le Temps’ shareholder structure lean. Should the Weko approve Ringier’s full takeover, Le Temps’ shareholder base will not, for the time being, be expanded to include the private support organization Le Cercle des amis du Temps.

In April 2014, Ringier signed a purchase agreement with Tamedia under which Ringier will acquire the 50 percent stake in ERP previously held by Tamedia and thus become the sole shareholder of ERP and indirectly the majority shareholder of the daily newspaper Le Temps in French-speaking Switzerland. With this traditional quality newspaper, Ringier is strengthening its strategic position in French-speaking Switzerland with its existing range of French-language products (L'Hebdo, L'illustré, TV8 and Edelweiss). The takeover is currently still being examined by the Swiss Federal Competition Commission (Comco).

After a thorough review, Ringier has now decided not to add any additional investors to its shareholder structure following approval by the Weko. In particular, after intensive discussions with Le Cercle des amis du Temps, it has been agreed not to include the private sponsorship in the shareholder structure of Le Temps, according to a statement on Wednesday. Several discussions were held with the co-presidents of the Cercle des amis du Temps, Olivier Vodoz, former State Councillor of Geneva, and Charles Kleiber, former Secretary of State, and it was decided to maintain this valuable contact.

The shareholder structure is to be kept deliberately lean in view of the structural challenges facing the media industry. The shareholder structure of Le Temps after completion of the takeover is therefore as follows: ER Publishing (wholly owned by Ringier AG): 92.456 percent, Geneva banker Claude Demole: 3.048 percent, Société des rédacteurs et du personnel du Temps: 2.4 percent, Société Editrice du Monde SAS: 2.096 percent.

No decisions will be made regarding a possible reorganization or even a change of location of the Le Temps editorial office until the Competition Commission has completed its review.

Last but not least: Volvo for sale, part 2

To sell his old Volvo, Christoffer Castor filmed a commercial in May and made it a viral hit. Now Volvo is having him advertise the current successor model, the V60.

The story went around the world in May: the commercial for Castor's rickety '93 Volvo 245 hit the one million mark within a few days and became a lesson in viral marketing. In a clip lasting just under three minutes, the Commercial filmmaker and photographer the advantages of his old box. What looks like an elaborate production to outsiders is actually a short leisure project by Castor and a colleague, the narrator. According to the script, it took half an hour to write. SPON needed. He wanted around 1,000 francs for the car - cat stickers included. However, he was mainly inundated with media inquiries.

The huge hype surrounding the dedicated Swedish tank salesman has not escaped Volvo's attention. Without further ado, Castor was commissioned to shoot a commercial for the current successor, the V60 Sportswagon R-Design T6 AWD. Another lesson in viral marketing - the enthusiasm of traditional and social media is not only pre-programmed, but comes free of charge, so to speak. The result is another worthwhile satire of conventional car commercials, which present the vehicles in such a dramatic and heroic way as if they could do more than just drive from A to B. And even if today's cars are soulless plastic companions compared to the good old character cars of past decades - at least the cat stickers have made it into modern times in this case. (hae)

Press Council: WC voyeur sufficiently anonymized

The Press Council rejects a complaint against 20 Minuten Online and Blick am Abend Online. They had sufficiently anonymized a voyeur photographed on the toilet.

At the University of Basel in January, a female student photographed a peeping tom over the partition in the women's restroom and gave the picture to the university staff. The two online media then published the photo and anonymized the man's face with a black bar over his eyes. On the day of publication, the man was recognized by a reader and arrested by police as a suspect.

Felix Mätzler, head of the St. Gallen Media School, then filed a complaint with the Press Council, criticizing that the person had not really been anonymized "despite the bars. The reader was thus also turned into a voyeur. The publication not only violated the privacy of the person, but also Article 7 of the "Declaration of the Duties and Rights of Journalists" (respect for privacy).

Tamedia's legal service responded on behalf of both editorial teams that the anonymization was sufficient and that identification was not possible for "any reader". The obligation to anonymize does not go so far that not even the close environment can recognize a person. In addition, the public interest in the reporting had been great.

The Press Council argues in the recital that it can never be ruled out that someone "with a particularly good memory for facial and body details, clothing, etc. recognizes a person by chance and despite the required anonymization" - unless a symbolic image is used. In this case, identification by any third person is not possible - the complaint is therefore deemed to be rejected.

However, the Press Council also points out that online media in particular, which increasingly work with images of so-called "reader reporters", would have to observe the same professional ethical standards when publishing them as with all other images. (hae)
