Peter Bütikofer & Company is now called Cometris

On October 1, 2014, the communications agency Peter Bütikofer & Company entered a new era. As of that date, the company began operating under a new name and, at the same time, relocated its office to downtown Zurich.

Peter Bütikofer & Company is now operating under the name Cometris. For more than 25 years, the agency Peter Bütikofer & Company has been advising companies, institutions, the public sector and individuals on communications issues. Last year, Bernhard Schmid took over the company from the founder and former owner, Peter Bütikofer, and has been at the helm of the agency ever since.

Cometris will remain true to its origins, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Its core competencies continue to lie in the areas of corporate communications, crisis communications and investor relations. The agency is now not only focusing on the communication of new content, but is also increasingly taking care of the sharpening of existing content in the service of its clients - particularly in the area of the Internet. With increasing digitalization, the company has also replaced its previous IT and telephone infrastructure and has thus become completely location-independent in the provision of its services.

At the same time as the relaunch under a modern branding, the agency has won two new client mandates in the areas of location marketing and media relations.

Eyeloveyou: Big fuss about new website

The historic Fauteuil small theater in Basel has launched a completely redesigned website created by the advertising agency Eyeloveyou. The new site puts the performance schedule front and center.

The Rasser theaters on Spalenberg in Basel (Theater Fauteuil, Tabourettli and Kaisersaal) are not only impressive for their events - the location itself makes up much of their magic. In one of the oldest buildings in Basel's city center, the theater is almost a museum. As the agency writes, visitors to the website should feel directly transported to this beautiful place - through a not quite everyday insight: Full-screen films run in the background, showing tracking shots through the theater, the make-up booth or even a stage set-up.

A theater's website is primarily about the program. The central component of the responsive website is therefore the program. It not only shows the current events, but can also be narrowed down by artist using filter navigation - for a better overview. Each detailed page of the events not only contains all the performance dates, but also large image galleries and teaser films that show visitors what they can expect.

The color red dominates the interior of the Theater Fauteuil. Around this
To pick up on the red thread in the website, structural elements are kept in red - combined with plenty of white space for more clarity. All interactive elements are in light blue - a clear contrast to the dominant red. Large, clearly structured and colorful: the new website of Theater Fauteuil is designed for a broad target group, from young to old.

Responsible at Theater Fauteuil: Caroline and Claude Rasser (theater management). Responsible at Eyeloveyou: Stevie Fiedler (creation), Oliver Kirschbaum (consulting, conception), Michael Schär (conception), arteria GmbH (programming), Pascal Bloch, David Merkofer (photo/film).

Di Rocco new at Ringier Publishing Media

Ringier's central advertising marketing unit is repositioning itself for French-speaking Switzerland: Marianna Di Rocco is in charge of the French-speaking advertising market at Ringier Publishing Media.

A year ago, Ringier's advertising market was reorganized into the central division Ringier Publishing Media under the leadership of Thomas Passen, Head of Sales & Marketing Ringier. The move has proven to be the right one, Ringier wrote in a statement on Thursday. Following Ringier's acquisition of the French-speaking Swiss daily Le Temps, Ringier Publishing Media has now also been reorganized for French-speaking Switzerland.

As of January 1, 2015, Marianna Di Rocco, previously Advertising Manager at Le Temps, will be in charge of the advertising market in French-speaking Switzerland. Di Rocco reports directly to Thomas Passen and will be responsible for marketing the entire Ringier Publishing Media portfolio for French-speaking Switzerland, including Le Temps. Beniamino Esposito, Advertising Market Manager German-speaking Switzerland, will provide Thomas Passen with even greater support for projects and the strategic development of Ringier Publishing Media in the future.

Job recruiters want to break Jocloud's dominance

The Jobcloud platform from Tamedia and Ringier dominates the online job market with 70 percent of the market. Adecco and other recruitment agencies are fighting back against this.

The recruitment agencies Adecco and Manpower are currently in negotiations with the online job platform Jobcloud. This is according to the Handelszeitung. The reason is price increases of up to 70 percent on portals such as Jobs.ch, Jobup.ch and Jobwinner.ch.

Negotiations are underway with a view to the contracts expiring at the end of October, as the Head of Marketing at Adecco Switzerland, José M. San José, confirmed to Handelszeitung. The contracts between Manpower and Jobcloud also expire at the end of the year, confirms Manpower Switzerland CEO Patrick Maier. Whether they will be continued and on what terms is currently unclear.

The Competition Commission has already received complaints about Jobcloud's strong position in the market. But the job brokers are helping themselves in the meantime. As the Handelszeitung writes, Adecco and Co are planning to set up a rival platform to curb Joblcoud's dominance. Talks are currently underway with technology and consulting firms in Switzerland and abroad. The industry association Swissstaffing is also to be brought on board to join forces against the market giant.

Publigroupe applies for delisting of its shares

As previously announced, Publigroupe has filed an application with the SIX Swiss Exchange to delist its shares. This is in connection with the acquisition by Swisscom.

The application for delisting was submitted by Swisscom, which holds more than 98 percent of Publigroupe's voting rights. The delisting will be applied for at the end of the delisting procedure for the shares still held by the public, as Publigroupe writes in a press release. The procedure is expected to take 5 to 6 months.

"Carl Lutz" nominated for Ebook Award

The Zurich-based startup Docmine is going head-to-head with the giants of the German publishing industry: Its interactive video book, «Carl Lutz – The Forgotten Hero,» has made it to the finals of the German Ebook Award, which will be presented for the first time on October 8 as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair.

This nomination is a sign that the individual media types are increasingly merging: the eponymous cinema documentary about the Swiss Jew rescuer Lutz is also being shown at the Zurich Film Festival this week. The videobook app tells the story of Swiss Vice Consul Carl Lutz, who saved more than 50,000 Jews from the Holocaust in Budapest, with video sequences from survivors, original footage, interactive graphics and in-depth texts.

The jury of the first German eBook Award justified the selection of the video book "Carl Lutz" as one of five projects in the "Best eBook Apps" category by stating that with
the interlocking of text and content description with other elements, digital storytelling is practiced at the highest level.

Carl Lutz's act of civil courage was previously little known to the general Swiss public. The author and director Daniel von Aarburg and the Zurich production company Docmine have created a veritable universe of stories about Carl Lutz, which aims to make these heroic deeds known outside the realm of historical research. The video book "Carl Lutz - The Forgotten Hero", a co-production with SRG, was published at the same time as a TV documentary - also produced by von Aarburg and DOCMINE - was broadcast on SRF and RTS. This Sunday, October 5, the long version of the documentary will have its Swiss premiere at the Zurich Film Festival and will then go on a Swiss cinema tour accompanied by director von Aarburg and Carl Lutz's adopted daughter Agnes Hirschi.

Docmine, originally a pure documentary film production company, was reorganized at the beginning of 2013 and has consistently focused on transmedia storytelling ever since. Producer Patrick M. Müller manages the head office in Zurich, Robin Burgauer the "Content Factory" in Munich. Zurich-based Tom Talent Holding, owned by Thomas Sterchi (founder of Jobs.ch), holds a half stake in the company.

Rosenstar team expanded

The Lucerne agency Rosenstar has strengthened its team as of the beginning of September. Janine Eichenberger turns the existing quartet of women into a quintet and is primarily active in consulting.

Janine Eichenberger originally did her commercial training at a local authority in Aargau. Since her creative potential and thirst for knowledge were far from satisfied, she then studied industrial design at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. And now she is about to complete her MAS in Marketing Management at the University of Basel.

As a consultant and project manager, her marketing knowledge and analytical and strategic skills will come in handy most at Rosenstar, the agency wrote in a statement Wednesday. But her design training and professional experience would also be of use. Fortunately, Eichenberger is "at home in both worlds."

Julian Assange in the focus of art

The second volume in the «Edition Digital Culture» book series published by Migros-Kulturprozent focuses on the topic of hacking. Hackers break into systems and change the rules—a phenomenon that also fascinates artists.

Since the popularization of computer technology through personal computers and the Internet, the strategy of hacking has exerted a particular fascination on digital culture. Why is this the case? What messages do artists convey with these projects? The second volume in the Migros Culture Percentage's "Edition Digital Culture" series gets to the bottom of these questions.

A hack is actually a clever solution to a computer problem. But hacking also stands for the creative disruption of a technology and the associated systems. A hacker wants to do more than just follow predetermined rules, he wants to change the systems themselves. This makes the figure of the hacker and his activity dazzling and ambiguous.

The works of Ubermorgen and the Bitnik media group play an important role in the book. Mediengruppe Bitnik, for example, was able to send a package with a video camera to Julian Assange, who has been in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for over two years. The action, which received a lot of attention, is documented in the book in text and pictures.

The volume is bilingual in German and English and contains texts by well-known authors in the field of cultural and media studies: Hannes Gassert, Verena Kuni, Claus Pias, Felix Stalder and Raffael Dörig. The publication series is part of the Migros Culture Percentage's funding policy. The editor Dominik Landwehr, Head of the Pop and New Media Department, Culture and Social Affairs Directorate, Federation of Migros Cooperatives, explains: "With our work contributions, we promote the production of interesting projects in the field of digital culture and media art. With this book series, we are also committed to promoting the works and want to help them reach as wide an audience as possible. We therefore deliberately maintain a simple style so that an audience outside the narrower media art scene can also find access to these works."

The book launch will take place as part of the exhibition "The Darknet - From Memes to Onionland. An Exploration" at the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm.

IPG Mediabrands invests 37 billion US dollars annually on behalf of its clients, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. A cooperation agreement has now been reached - initially for one year - which will be extended if successful.

The aim of the collaboration between the two companies is to implement campaigns for Mediabrands customers across all Google platforms. Both companies also invest jointly in projects and research in order to finance impact measurements of these campaigns.

Based on the US deal signed earlier this year, this cross-platform deal includes more than 40 fast-growing markets in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Channel 9 asks viewers for financial contribution

Local television in Valais is breaking new ground in terms of financing. In future, it will be asking all Valais households for a contribution of three francs per month. Numerous Valais personalities are supporting the cause in commercials.

The bilingual local television channel Canal 9/Kanal 9 has already been able to count on the support of its viewers. The Valais cable network operator Netplus added the amount of CHF 36 to the annual bill.

Nevertheless, financial support remained voluntary. Anyone who did not want to pay had their name removed from the list. Around 50,000 households are currently paying the contribution. In future, however, the cable network operator no longer wants to take over billing.

Channel 9 is therefore addressing the more than 150000 households in Valais directly, as President Olivier Dumas told the media in Martigny on Wednesday. The aim is to keep 1.8 million francs from these voluntary contributions.

Cina, Freysinger and Amherd advertise

The station's total budget amounts to eight million francs. The local television station hopes that this will also attract subscribers who no longer watch television via cable networks. The campaign is supported by numerous Valais personalities. For example, a German-language advertisement "miis Wallis, miis Fernseh" features state councillors Jean-Michel Cina (CVP) and Oskar Freysinger (SVP) as well as CVP National Councillor Viola Amherd.

NZZ increases number of digital subscriptions by almost 50 percent

Over 16600 people have subscribed to a digital edition of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung or NZZ am Sonntag. This represents an increase of around 48 percent compared to the previous year.

In contrast to many other publishers, the NZZ relies on a cross-channel model for its subscriptions. Whether print, e-paper (Replica) or on NZZ.ch: readers decide for themselves on which channel and with which device they want to read NZZ content. The success of this overall strategy is confirmed by the circulation certification published today by Wemf. This shows a total of 16634 digital subscriptions sold for the NZZ. Of these, 9710 subscriptions are for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and 6924 for the NZZ am Sonntag. The NZZ was even able to double its Replica circulation to over 34,000 compared to the previous year.

Thanks to the increase in replica circulation, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (Swiss edition) was able to compensate for the decline in print: With a total circulation of 114,209, it remained practically stable (-0.9 percent), while the NZZ am Sonntag even managed to increase its circulation by 2.5 percent to 135,805.

"The current circulation figures show once again that our readers are increasingly using digital channels to consume our content. It is therefore important that not only the readers of the printed edition, but also the readers of the digital replicas are recorded by Wemf," explains Steven Neubauer, Head of Marketing & Products NZZ. For Editor-in-Chief Markus Spillmann, the latest results show that "we can not only successfully defend the NZZ's leading position in high-quality journalism in the digital age, but also further expand it".
