Lidl launches atmospheric wine platform

Lidl Switzerland is showcasing its wine expertise with a new online presence. The platform was developed in collaboration with the Zurich-based agency Feinheit.

Concrete wine-drinking situations are the focus of the new campaign. The "Do-you-know-earlier-wine" or the "Finally-the-kids-are-in-bed-wine" bring emotional situations and a good wine selection together.

Acoustically spoiled while drinking wine

Lidl Switzerland developed the concept together with Feinheit, which also took care of the implementation. The Wine-moments.ch website was developed to coincide with the start of the France Weeks. In the future, the platform can be expanded to include other mood wines. Thus, Lidl Switzerland can add new selected wines for annual events such as Christmas and New Year's Eve.

The wine recommendations are provided by Christian Baur, who leads the restoration semester at the Swiss Hotel Management School Lucerne. And since music should not be neglected while enjoying wine, corresponding Spotify playlists are available for the best moments (e.g. for the Welcome Back Wine or the Do-you-remember-wine).

Wirz is the Swiss advertising agency with the highest turnover

Thanks to steady growth in the communications budgets it manages and significant losses suffered by its strongest competitor, Publicis, Wirz made it to the top.

Over the past four years, the volume of communication in Switzerland (= total expenditure on marketing communication by the top 750 advertising clients) has steadily declined slightly. In 2011, it amounted to 6.1 billion. In 2014, the top 750 advertising clients still spent CHF 5.934 billion on their communication (-2.7%).

Almost half of the total communication volume (48.8 percent) is managed by the top 25 advertising agencies (turnover > CHF 50 million), just over a quarter (27.5 percent) by 105 smaller advertising agencies (turnover <50 millionen franken). der rest (1,4 milliarden oder 23.8 prozent) läuft an den werbeagenturen vorbei (= "Kommunikationsbudgets," die mit keinem mandat eine werbeagentur verbunden sind). die von top 25 betreuten kommunikationsbudgets sind etwas stärker zurückgegangen als gesamtmarkt. diese agenturen 2011 in höhe 3,013 milliarden, so es 2014 noch 2,893 milliarden. dies bedeutet einbusse 120 franken (- 4 prozent). dies zeigt, dass sich grössenordnungen im schweizer werbemarkt nur sehr geringfügig verändern. das segment agenturen, ganzes betrachtet, scheint tendenziell eher mehr mühe zu haben, seine position halten. kleineren gelingt leichter, zugewinne erzielen. die grösste agentur verfügt einem umsatz 320 gerade mal über einen marktanteil 5.4 prozent. ein kurzer blick auf grössten lande, alle>150 million francs.

werbeagenturen
The only advertising agency with a communication volume of over 300 million

In 2014, Wirz managed communication budgets for its clients amounting to CHF 320 million. This is practically the same amount as in the previous year. At Publicis, on the other hand, the communication volume decreased by CHF 45 million compared to the previous year. It now amounts to 225 million francs.

How are these sales figures determined?

Of the top 750 clients, it is known whether they work with an advertising agency and, if so, which one. Of these, more than half (424) disclosed their communication expenditure as part of this year's advertising market study. In order to be able to quantify the communication volume of the individual advertising agencies, a value must also be assigned to the clients for whom no information is available. This is an average value that is calculated on the basis of the responses received and varies depending on the sector.

In order to calculate the communication volume of the overall market, all agencies that work for one of the top 750 clients are included. This includes a total of 130 advertising agencies. In addition, the communication volume of those clients who work without an advertising agency is also recorded. (Walter Weder, Media Research Group)

Countdown for nuclear phase-out

The end of October marks the last chance for businesses to cancel their contracts with their current nuclear power supplier so they can switch to a new provider starting in 2015. IWB offers 100 percent renewable energy—without nuclear power. The new LGK is promoting this offer.

For the nuclear phase-out, the new LGK has developed a countdown campaign that makes clear to entrepreneurs the urgency for switching providers. All media repeatedly show the target group how little time is left to switch off. And why switching to IWB is worthwhile.

Last but not least: Flexibility as a strength

The iPhone 6 came under fire because it apparently bends easily in a pants pocket. But couldn't flexibility also be a strength?

You can hardly say that about a smartphone. But you can with a back. That's what a Pilates studio in Nisantasi, Istanbul, thought. The Turkish agency Hayt Huyt advertises Zin Pilates with this poster designed at lightning speed. (sis)

Online freaks are not necessarily introverts

Internet use has become a popular leisure activity. The 2014 Mach Consumer and Mach Radar studies provide insights into the characteristics of Internet users. The studies were published on Tuesday.

A large proportion of Swiss people use the Internet not only at work, but also in their leisure time. 64 percent say they surf the Internet several times a week as a hobby.
This is not always about simply obtaining information. Young people up to the age of 34 in particular use the Internet for social networking. Whereby the proportion of women and men talking on Facebook and Co. is roughly balanced.
Cliché not confirmed

The widespread assumption that Internet freaks tend to be introverts is not confirmed by the Wemf data. In fact, respondents who surf the Internet several times a week or daily in their free time tend to be more extroverted. This is particularly true of those who like to spend time in social networks and on community platforms. The possibility of exchanging ideas with others online seems to be exciting for extroverted characters. A large proportion of respondents who like to spend their free time on the Internet are definitely inclined toward material values. These people tend toward a generous consumption style and high media consumption.

The data can be found in the Mach Consumer and Mach Radar 2014 studies by Wemf AG für Werbemedienforschung. Mach Consumer is the largest continuous consumer media study in Switzerland. It determines the needs, inclinations and habits of Swiss consumers. The Mach Radar study links consumer data with psychographic information and value attitudes. This enables psychographic positioning of products, brands, services, shopping channels and press media.
