Formeldrei: Campaign for Libero fare association

Biel, the Seeland region, Grenchen, and the Bernese Jura have recently joined the Libero fare network. The Bern-based agency Formeldrei created a campaign to mark the occasion.

From December 14, 2014, the entire region will be able to travel on a single ticket for all public transport. However, existing Libero customers will also benefit from the expansion of the area: They can now buy tickets for commuting north or for spontaneous excursions to the hiking region of the Jura directly from the ticket machine.

Libero is now communicating in two languages. All information is consistently available in German and French - at the vending machine, on the website, in all printed matter and also in advertising. And the launch campaign by Formeldrei also demonstrates how "casually" Libero overcomes the language barrier. The posters and advertisements, which mainly appear in the new areas, show pictures of towns and landscapes in the region and welcome future Libero passengers with a friendly "Bonjour!".

Last but not least: Miss Building Technology

One more to go! After Miss Tuning, Miss Earth, Miss Handicap, Miss Auto Zürich and Miss Molly, the stage is now set for Miss Building Technology.

Miss Switzerland - the mother of all pageants - is currently in crisis. The current title holder called... wait... Laetitia Guarino still needs some time to get into the much-heralded charitable gear (20 Minuten reported). But that was the plan according to the PR department, and now things are slowly but surely getting underway.

And Missen owner Guido Fluri was already flirting with the idea of a possible Jump offbut in retrospect saw himself misunderstood (Werbewoche.ch reported). A flawless miss interpretation of the business magazine. Fluri remains. The future of the event stands on beautiful, but extremely shaky legs.

In such nasty miss times, the saying goes: Better one more Miss than one less. Otherwise you suddenly end up with no Miss at all. Rescue is at hand - and has a title: Miss Building Technology!

What at first glance sounds like Miss Garden Center or Miss Facility Management is not only meant seriously, but a done deal. Both the casting show (June 18) and the actual election with gala dinner (September 30) will take place at the Kongresshaus Zurich in 2015. The whole thing will be hosted by "an extremely popular" but still secret person. And Christa Rigozzi has already been approached as a possible member of the four-person celebrity jury. She seems suitable, as she sits on almost every jury in the country anyway and is already an ambassador for the building technology company Tobler and is therefore more or less a specialist.

The election, organized by Gropag Personalmanagement, aims to make the industry, which suffers from a shortage of skilled workers, more popular among young people and women in particular. Participate Women who have completed basic training or further training in building technology or engineering or are currently working in this sector are eligible. Seize the opportunity now and become Miss Building Technology! We'll keep our fingers crossed for you. (hae)

JWT/Fabrikant and Unicef say thank you

The aim of the thank-you campaign developed by JWT/Fabrikant is to make the population aware of Unicef's commitment and to generate donations.

The United Nations Children's Fund, founded in 1946, has been campaigning for children's rights worldwide for decades. This fact is not sufficiently well known among the general population. Neither is the fact that the Children's Fund depends on donations to be able to stand up for children's rights at all.

Raising awareness through emotional viral and TV spot

Thanks to a contemporary witness, the viral gives a brief insight into Unicef's work and links it to his touching story. The viral was sent to existing and potential donors in a fully personalized way via CRM integration and aired as a 20-second TV spot with a wide reach. At Unicef-thanks.ch anyone can generate their own personalized video.

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7smOBIkl_o

A contemporary witness as living proof

The central figure of the campaign is the contemporary witness who at that time benefited from UNICEF's aid in devastated post-war Europe and owes his life to it. The contemporary witness leads through the milestones of the aid organization and thematizes its daily challenge: to safeguard the right to education, food, health and protection for children struggling to survive under life-threatening circumstances.

Ambitious event "One square love

Accompanying the viral, TV spot and website, the agency developed a unique installation that has already taken place in Bern (20 - 21.11.2014) and can be seen in Geneva on 10 - 12.12.2014. The five-meter-high cube "Ein Quadrat Liebe" offers visitors an experience that gets under their skin.

UNICEF-Schweiz_Kubus

The installation dramatizes the everyday struggle for survival of children worldwide. A topic that is constantly brought to our attention by the media, but which has not touched us for a long time. And this is exactly what the installation does. In a way that is as simple as it is frighteningly sober, it makes visitors aware again of what the Children's Fund is campaigning for worldwide: the right of every child to be allowed to be a child. By making a donation directly on site, you support the work of Unicef - in the spirit of the campaign: Thank you for your help.

Maxomedia: Timelapse banner for Swissquote

Be present on the most important stock exchanges with just one click - from anywhere and at any time. This practical trading service from Swissquote is now being promoted with banners and ads from Maxomedia.

Whether high above the clouds or in hectic traffic on the way to work - no matter where you have the time and inclination, Swissquote's intuitive trading service can be used easily and quickly. No matter what is happening around you, no matter how quickly the environment may change, the Swissquote client remains calm and relaxed as he keeps his finances firmly under control.

CR Basel for BFU: Better driving without alcohol

If you drive, you don't drink. CR Basel's new BFU campaign underlines this principle with irritating subjects.

After the main focus of the last BFU campaign against drinking and driving was on the ban on alcohol for new drivers, which came into force in 2014, the current message is now aimed at the general public: The sequel to "Null Promille. Null Probleme." uses eye-catching subjects and the matching binder "Wer fährt, trinkt nicht." to draw attention to the obvious impairment caused by alcohol consumption. The F4 posters with the visual irritations are used throughout Switzerland in the display of the bfu safety delegates. The typographical implementation of the theme on parking discs, which are issued and distributed together with the ACS as an additional partner, is also based on the same idea.

Marketing Trophy: The Nominees

Eleven projects have been nominated for the 2015 Marketing Trophy and can look forward to the award ceremony, which will take place on March 3 as part of the Swiss Marketing Day.

An interdisciplinary jury of experts, chaired by Peter Felser, evaluates the projects submitted. The most innovative and successful marketing ideas in the country are awarded the Marketing Trophy on behalf of Swiss Marketing, the largest professional organization for marketing and sales in Switzerland.

Nominees in the "Large companies" category

- BMW Switzerland with the project "BMW i3: Launch of a new vehicle concept": The electric BMW i3 is unique and represents BMW's entry into a new submarket. However, the campaign does not focus on the car, but on a newly created lifestyle, ecoism. A cross-media marketing campaign that is just as innovative as the product itself. Agencies involved: Serviceplan Suisse, Zurich; Plan.Net Suisse, Zurich.

- Geberit International with the project "The Geberit Aquaclean Feeling": This campaign aims to replace dry cleaning in Europe's toilets with a warm water jet. The sensitive topic, which consumers are reluctant to talk about, was defused by focusing on the emotional added value of the product. Accordingly, water and its positive properties are at the center of the campaign. Agency involved: Y&R Group Switzerland, Zurich.

- Mazda Suisse with the "Voilà Ma Suisse" project: Mazda has renewed its entire product range based on three strategic pillars - design, technology and driving pleasure. As a result, the Mazda brand was also repositioned and "passionately different": things are done differently to make them better. Unusual marketing measures were used to change brand perception, strengthen brand familiarity and reach new and younger customers. Agency involved: JWT/Fabrikant, Zurich.

- UBS with the project "UBS: The path to becoming Switzerland's leading multi-channel bank": advancing digitalization is also changing the banking business. With this campaign, the approximately 2.5 million clients are to experience UBS as a leader in online and mobile banking - even those who have never used e- and mobile banking before. The bank is aiming for a clear unique selling proposition in order to differentiate itself from its competitors.Agency involved: Alpha 245, Zurich.

- CSS with the project: "Holistic brand and customer experience management": With this campaign, the long-established insurance company based in Lucerne wants to counteract the loss of customers in the face of extremely tough competition. It has achieved this through targeted brand positioning and the generation of positive customer experiences. Agencies involved: Prophet, Zurich; Contexta, Bern; Stimmt, Zurich; Sand SIV, Zurich. Nominees in the "SME" category

- Sport Ferien Resort Fiesch with the "Sport.info" project: The traditional resort, whose foundation stone was laid back in 1962, has responded to the declining number of overnight stays in its core business, the traditional school sports sector, with an information and booking platform. It is Switzerland's first platform for teachers and sports coaches and has helped to establish and expand a regional network of service providers. Agency involved: Indual, Brig.

- Stöckli Swiss Sports with the project "The lightest bike in the world": The Stöckli brand stands not only for skiing, but also for biking fun - but only a few people knew this. In order to be perceived as a competent player in this area, an outstanding product innovation was developed: the "Beryll 29" with the lightest frame in the sports bike segment. Agency involved: Serviceplan Suisse, Zurich.

- Swiss Bankers Prepaid Services with the "Travel Cash - The Travel Money" project: The popularity of the Travel Cash card stagnated for the first time since its introduction in 2003 in the 2012 financial year. Combined with an offensive growth strategy, the Travel Cash card was established as THE Swiss travel money by increasing awareness of the "secure means of payment when traveling" feature. Agency involved: Contexta, Bern.

Nominees in the "Nonprofit organizations" category

- Duck Race Zurich with the "Duck Race Zurich" project: Initiated three years ago by the ambitious student Basia Clauer, the project aims to raise awareness of cancer among young people and families. It follows the motto "Have fun and do something good at the same time" and became widely known through a race of thousands of blue and white rubber ducks on the Limmat in Zurich, Switzerland.Consultant involved: Cancer League of the Canton of Zurich, Zurich.

- SOS Children's Villages Switzerland with the project "Mobile phone collection campaign for SOS Children's Villages": The aim of this project was to strengthen Swisscom's image as a sustainable telecommunications provider through the cell phone collection campaign and at the same time to develop an innovative way of making donations. This also increased awareness of the SOS Children's Village and at the same time established it as a competent partner for companies.Consultant involved: Heimat, Berlin.

- Schtifti Foundation with the "Gorilla" project: The privately initiated Schtifti Foundation's "Gorilla" project is aimed at children and young people between the ages of 10 and 20 who are overweight or obese. It is the only project in Switzerland to combine the relevant areas of "exercise" and "nutrition". Subtle health promotion as an information tool and companion for a positive lifestyle through freestyle sport and nutrition tips. Agency involved: Kreienbühl und Vogler, Zurich.

As usual, the core topic of the Marketing Day, "From Big Data to Big Inspiration", will be examined from various perspectives by the following top-class speakers: Christian Rätsch, CEO, Saatchi & Saatchi Germany; Gerd Gigerenzer, Psychologist, Director of the Department of Adaptive Behavior and Cognition at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development; Julius van de Laar, Campaign and Strategy Consultant, Van de Laar Campaigning; Nils Müller, CEO & Founder, Trendone; Karin Frick, Head and Member of the Executive Board, GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute; Hanspeter Thür, Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC); Andreas Wiebe, CEO, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Founder, Hulbee / Swisscows.ch; Wolfgang Zimmermann, Management Consultant, Migros Genossenschafts-Bund.

No rebuttal for abortion critics

According to the Federal Supreme Court, the Swiss Foundation for Mother and Child Aid (SHMK) has no right to a counterstatement in the weekly newspaper Zeit. A journalist had claimed to be unintentionally pregnant and had sought advice from the SHMK.

Before the article was published at the end of August 2013, the Zeit journalist informed the President of the Foundation by email that a text about the SHMK's counseling services would be published. She listed eight points that she would address and gave the President the opportunity to comment. This was attached to the text practically verbatim.

The content of the published text is about the experienced counseling session in which the supposedly unwanted pregnant woman is warned against an abortion with drastic descriptions of the procedure and the consequences. It is described how the woman is advised to carry the child to term with references to financial assistance. The journalist compares the advice provided by the SHMK with neutral information and advice from state-recognized agencies, which are always conducted in an open-ended manner. One of the reasons given by the Federal Supreme Court for its decision is that the requested counterstatement contains incorrect information, which means that it can be rejected. For example, the foundation writes that it is "independent of any other organization". This could not rightly be claimed, as the foundation was established by theMamma association, whose president is identical to that of the foundation. The mission statements of the two organizations are almost identical and the SHMK website is linked to that of the association.

In addition, the foundation had already had the opportunity to comment on the professionalism of the consultations in the president's email. In her article, the journalist also criticized the fact that the SHMK consultation always referred to the child and not the embryo or foetus. According to the foundation, she was unable to comment on this. The average reader would understand the criticism of the choice of words as an expression of opinion by the author. According to the law, a counterstatement is not possible. (SDA)

JvM/Limmat: Buying gifts in a more relaxed way

Jung von Matt/Limmat created a mega poster for Ricardoshops.ch on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse and shows: Christmas stress can be prevented.

For most people, buying Christmas presents means stress and a hectic pace. Nowhere in Switzerland is this more evident these days than on the country's largest shopping street. For this reason, Jung von Matt/Limmat created a mega poster for Ricardoshops.ch on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse to coincide with the Christmas season. It shows stressed passers-by that the search for presents in the new online shopping center is so relaxed that even Santa Claus doesn't look old.

No wonder: With around 2.5 million articles, even the gift expert can quickly and easily find the right gift for everyone. And this can be delivered only still comfortably home to the North Pole (with surcharge).

The 12.40 x 15.85 meter poster will hang on the Modissa building on Bahnhofstrasse at the height of Uraniastrasse for the entire Advent season.

René Gehrig, Interim Director of the Media Institute

René Gehrig, 54, will take over as director of the Media Institute—which is part of the Swiss Media Association—on a 60 percent basis starting in January for about half a year. Gehrig has been familiar with the media scene for decades.

For over ten years, Gehrig has also worked as a coach and consultant in Germany and Austria for various media companies. In Switzerland, he held various positions at Tamedia—including Head of Marketing and Head of Magazines—and served as a member of the executive board. As Regional Director at Publicitas, he was responsible for restructuring the Central Region. In addition, he served on the steering committee of the Education Department of the Swiss Media Association for several years until 2011. It was during this time, in particular, that the current training program leading to the Federal Diploma in Media Management was established.

The position of director of the Media Institute will be filled on an interim basis, as the association’s executive board will decide next year how the Media Institute’s services should be structured in the future to better meet the needs of media companies and publishers.

René Gehrig will take over operational responsibility for the Media Institute on January 12, 2015, from Fredy Greuter, who is leaving the association in January (Werbewoche.ch reported). As a member of the executive office team, he will support the strategic realignment process of the continuing education division at the Media Institute. His responsibilities also include overseeing the current course leading to the Federal Diploma in Media Management and the «Reading Makes You Grow» project. Furthermore, moderating and overseeing the Local Media Symposium in April and the Media Law Conference in May are key components of his responsibilities.

Fredy Greuter will take up his new position as head of communications at the Swiss Employers' Association in February.

Last but not least: What a cheese

A Taste of Switzerland in the Land of the Rising Sun: Burger King Japan is serving fondue with its burgers this New Year.

A strange mixture based on the Swiss model: from January 9, the Japanese offshoot of the fast food group will be offering two new, cheesy burgers in the form of "Beef Fondue" and "Chicken Fondue". At first glance, this may come as little surprise, because in this country people are used to the "Verburgerung" of Swiss cheese specialties by competitor McDonald's: McFondue, McRaclette & Co. have long been classics in the restaurant chain's range. In these creations, the cheese is sandwiched between the buns as an ingredient. Like a cheeseburger, but with real cheese.

mcraclette
McRaclette from McDonald's Switzerland (Image: Mcdonalds.ch)

It's different in Japan, where the melted cheese is served separately in a cardboard caquelon (also called a "cup"). The idea is that you dip the burger in it for the ultimate Swiss culinary feeling.

burgerking-fondue-01

If you think you can't have more Switzerland, you're wrong. It could, after all. For example, if cheeses were melted that were a little closer to classic fondue than the strange Gouda-Cheddar-Mozzarella-Parmesan-Emmental mixture that Burger King uses. At least according to Designtaxi.com still white wine added - so a certain residual authenticity is present.

Whether the fondue creations are also good advertising for Switzerland as a travel destination cannot be judged at this point. If the burgers taste like they look, Japanese tourists will probably give our country a wide berth in the future. (hae)
