Vizner Borel stages CRB as part of good buildings

Since 1959, the Swiss Central Office for Construction Rationalization (CRB) has been facilitating communication among stakeholders in the Swiss construction industry. The campaign by Vizner Borel aims to increase awareness and strengthen the organization’s image.

These include the comprehensive standard items catalog NPK published by CRB, which is indispensable in the construction industry. Or the exclusive distribution of the Natural Color System NCS, Europe's most widely used color system. The Vizner Borel agency was commissioned to develop a corresponding campaign to further increase awareness among the target groups and consolidate CRB's image as a modern, indispensable institution. The result is a series of trade press advertisements that use impressive images and surprising statements to dramatize the fact that CRB and NCS are always part of good buildings. Vizner Borel has been working for CRB since 2013 and has realized several communication measures in the business-to-business sector during this time.

One goat does not make a summer. With two, on the other hand, things already look different. Gian and Giachen promote the most beautiful season in the new film by Jung von Matt/Limmat for Graubünden Ferien.

Giachen has prepared what appears to be a big speech and is just waiting for the perfect moment to deliver it. Because there is a lot to say. Paid VAT will be refunded

Anyone who has already paid their Billag radio and television reception fees will receive a VAT refund. The total amount of the refunds is 15 million francs.

As a result of the Federal Supreme Court ruling of April 13, 2015, radio and television reception fees are no longer subject to VAT (Werbewoche.ch reported). For this reason, VAT will be refunded to people who have already paid their bill for the period from April 2015. Billag will implement the decision of the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM). The corresponding fee payers will have the amount they have overpaid deducted from their next bill. They will therefore not be at a disadvantage compared to households and companies that receive a bill without VAT in May, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The amounts to be refunded to fee payers range from 95 centimes to 10.35 francs. In total, Billag has to refund value-added tax of CHF 15 million, as Radio Top has learned. The amounts will be deducted from the next bill of the affected fee payers.

User growth for Swisscows

The German Rhineland Regional Association is making 18,000 users 'Google-free« and switching to Swisscows. The Swiss search engine now also offers an anonymous translation service.

More and more companies are switching - away from established search engines. The winners are independent search services like Swisscows. The reason: data security. The Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR), for example, recently made the decision to "Google-free" 18,000 PC users. The anonymous search engine from Switzerland, Swisscows, won the race. Selection and implementation were in the hands of LVR-InfoKom, the LVR's systems house. The changeover took place in a very short time, with little administrative effort. "We work with sensitive data at LVR. Therefore, we are very interested in the full anonymity of a search engine. Swisscows also offers the best compromise between functionality, compatibility and privacy protection," explains Wolfgang Weniger, Managing Director of LVR-Infokom. The systems house provides the entire association with IT services tailored to its specific needs. As the largest nationwide service provider for people with disabilities, the LVR alone operates 41 special schools, ten clinics and numerous cultural institutions. In addition to the logging of web searches, the storage of the IP address also spoke against the further use of the previous search portals.

Semantic search

Users benefit from the special features of the "Swiss Made" search engine. This includes the cloud view, called Data Cloud, of suggested narrowing of the search term. With Swisscows, LVR also uses semantic search, the most advanced technology to date. The so-called intelligent answer engine is a development of the Swiss company Hulbee, also there the trend among companies to secure web search is unbroken. "Switzerland as a banking and business location is sensitive. Quite a few banks and companies, for example, exclude the use of Google services such as Translate because the texts entered there are also stored and evaluated with the IP address. This is extremely critical," says Andreas Wiebe, CEO of Hulbee. That's why Swisscows now also offers a translation service that can be used completely anonymously - another argument for companies to switch.

Without violence and porn

Sophisticated filter technologies completely exclude violent and pornographic content from the search results. This means that Swisscows can also be classified as child-safe and can be used without criticism on public computers. This also applies to the numerous institutions of the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, where the computers are sometimes used by changing users. Swisscows is operated on its own server facilities in Switzerland and is thus beyond the reach of other countries. In addition to an image search, Swisscows also offers a music search with integrated player as well as a video search.

With Swisscows the web search is anonymous, no user data is stored or used. The strict data protection regulations of Switzerland allow the most secure servers without access from the EU or the USA. In addition to the search field, a data cloud with current topics and keywords provides quick access to information. The other functions include a complete web and Image searchMoreover, Swisscows is childproof. Erotic and porn sites cannot be found - making Swisscows particularly suitable for children and young people. Swisscows' operator is Hulbee: the company specializes in in-house software solutions for targeted searches of business data. It has also developed the Swiss price comparison portal Kauftipp.ch.

Publicis: Realignment for Calanda

As part of a rebranding effort for Calanda, Publicis developed the strategy, a campaign, and the website for «das von da oben.».

The beer from up there stands out from the crowd in the Swiss beer landscape: rustic and edgy, oddball and wild like the Grisons itself, it has become an ambassador far beyond the canton's borders. The new strategy and campaign continue to bring the Graubünden attitude to life to those "down there." An attitude to life that is based more on "doing" than on "achieving" and in which trying counts as much as success itself. Because if you don't try, you've already lost.

Almost legendary

According to the press release, the new campaign "Fast schon legendär" (Almost legendary) refuses to follow the usual mechanisms of the local brewers. You won't find any happy, shiny people enjoying the beer. What you will find are self-deprecating stories like those written by life. After all, we have all experienced situations that have to be described as "almost legendary". Even if it didn't work out perfectly, even if you had to take a setback: you were there and can tell a bombshell story. Calanda is looking for these stories and offers all almost-legends in Switzerland a platform for their 15 minutes of fame.

New online presence as a hub

In the course of the strategic realignment and campaign development, the website was also Calanda.com has undergone a complete redesign. The almost legendary stories of users, the products of Calanda and other activities around the from up there are collected centrally on the platform and are available at any time. The campaign, which includes online measures in addition to two new TV spots and the website, started on May 18.

Last but not least: Good advice is stupid

The homophobic advice from an advice column writer seems quite outdated. The ensuing wave of outrage on social media, on the other hand, is «so 2015.».

Bernhard, 43, is at a loss: his brother wants to get married soon - to a man. Both are "wonderful people", but there is still a problem: Bernhard and his wife have taught their two daughters that marriage is "a serious decision between a man and a woman". His brother's wish for the girls to scatter flowers seems to be in serious danger. What should they do?

Kummerkasten woman Barbara Eggert from the Westfalen-Blatt's OWL am Sonntag advertising paper knows what to do: with the best will in the world, it is not necessary to invite children to a same-sex wedding because "the daughters would be confused". Specifically: "Tell your brother that your children won't be attending the ceremony because you don't want the children to be confused".

Good advice on Sunday", for which the happy bridal couple - both "wonderful people" - certainly have complete understanding. Speaking of understanding: the web has little of it. User @panne_t tweeted a screenshot of the article. Hundreds of retweets, countless outraged comments and a few hours later, the case was already being discussed on high-reach portals such as Focus.de, Meedia.com and rolled up on most of the big blogs. Ms. Eggert probably imagined her famous 15 minutes a little differently. And you could almost feel sorry for her again with her outdated advice in a world in which half the world suddenly reads what has been written somewhere, sometime by someone. (hae)

Update: In the meantime, the Westfalen-Blatt has published a statement on Eggert's article: Link.

Swiss Marketing simplifies organizational structure

The Swiss Marketing Association is adapting its organizational and management structure to meet changing requirements. Going forward, Nicole Beck-Taubenest will focus on overseeing exams and contributing to the analysis of the professional field.

The board of Swiss Marketing and Nicole Beck-Taubenest (pictured) have agreed to redistribute the tasks of the office and to adapt the organizational and management structure, according to a statement. As part of these changes, Nicole Beck-Taubenest will relinquish her responsibilities as managing director of Swiss Marketing effective May 31, 2015. She will continue to be involved with Swiss Marketing as head of examinations for sales specialists (VFL) and marketing specialists (MFL) and as a member of the professional field analysis project group.

The tasks previously performed by Nicole Beck-Taubenest will be distributed among the existing employees of the administrative office. Management tasks will be assumed by Jeanine Zimmermann as Head of Associations, Kirsten Koffre-Loss as Head of Auditing and Semra Kahraman as Head of Accounting/HR.

"With our young and motivated team, we are very well positioned in terms of personnel to provide the upcoming services efficiently and competently," says Uwe Tännler, President Swiss Marketing.

Weak advertising month of April

Following a strong month for advertising in March, April bucked the trend: With advertising spending of 407.2 million Swiss francs (gross), April saw a 7.2 percent decline. Nearly all industries reported a decline compared with the same month last year.

Just four of the 23 sectors increased their advertising pressure (retail +47.6%, pharma & health +22%, telecommunications +2.0%, cleaning +50.0%). These are the findings of the Advertising Market Trend Report 2015/04 by Media Focus.

Advertising pressure in the sectors with year-on-year comparison

Weak advertising month - possible causes

The decline in advertising pressure in April is visible across all media. Several factors may be the reason for this result. For example, Easter fell at the beginning of April this year and not at the end, as was the case last year. This resulted in a shift in advertising for Easter sweets (-37% year-on-year). The month of April also saw significantly fewer advertisers than the same month last year: this year's advertisers invested almost the same amount as last year. Individual campaigns with high budgets are also significant: The advertiser Political interest groups, for example, is conspicuous with a significant decline of minus 70 percent.

Issues such as the Gripen and the minimum wage were exploited in advertising campaigns last year. It is also conceivable that April will serve as a ramp-up for greater advertising pressure in May. We are curious.

April was pretty salty

Orange is now called Salt. And to make sure everyone knows this, Orange has been beating the advertising drum vigorously. The Salt image campaign with the highest advertising pressure took first place in the telecoms sector. Far behind, with less than half the advertising pressure, Swisscom Natel Infinity Plus came second in the product ranking. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is in third place. Salt advertised across almost all media: in newspapers (26%), magazines (3%), TV (28%), radio (4%), cinema (4%), Internet (8%), poster advertising (26%) and in digital advertising spaces (1%). Looking at the ranking of advertisers, Salt (with six products) is in second place (+133% year-on-year). Swisscom remains in first place (+122% year-on-year), but with significantly more products (19). Overall, the telecommunications sector achieved a small increase of 2.0% this month. This is partly thanks to the advertising activity of Swisscom and Salt.

Top 5 products in the Pharma & Health sector

With gross advertising pressure of 15.5 million Swiss francs, the pharma & health sector recorded a 22.2% increase in advertising compared to the same month last year. Two products for sports injuries in particular were heavily advertised. As Suva announced in its press release on April 14, almost twice as many joggers have accidents today than 15 years ago. In line with this, the products Perskindol Classic Gel and Voltaren Dolo Forte Emulgel are at the top of the product rankings. Third place was taken by the new painkiller Aspirin S, which advertises an even faster onset of action. Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi, the product for callus-free feet, came in fourth place. In fifth place is the website NU3.ch, which offers numerous nutritional products for the body-conscious.

ICC: Guidelines for Native Advertsing

The Advertising and Marketing Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has added three principles regarding native advertising—a new form of advertising—to its existing global guidelines.

These are intended to ensure that transparency and consumer trust remain guaranteed even with modern forms of advertising that are entertaining or news-oriented. Native advertising is advertising that is embedded in editorial content and is becoming increasingly popular.

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has issued global rules (ICC Code of Advertising and Marketing Communications Practice) that companies should adhere to in their day-to-day business. Some of these rules take on even greater significance in connection with native advertising as a new form of advertising. Unlike banner advertising, for example, native advertising can be shared or forwarded to other people. As this form of advertising is embedded in the editorial section and adapted to the consumer's usage behavior, it is less intrusive and is also not detected by ad blockers. This form of advertising is therefore becoming increasingly popular.

Three principles which are already present in various rules in the existing ICC Code:

  1. Advertising should recognizable as advertising even if it is embedded in the editorial environment.
  2. The Identity of the advertiser is clearly identifiable.
  3. Imprint (Disclosure) is prominently worded and easy for consumers to understand.

Compliance with these principles ensures that consumer trust is not exploited due to a lack of experience or knowledge. However, the concretization in individual cases always requires serious consideration in the appropriate context and requires respect for innovative advertising content that is entertaining or has a topical relevance.

The ICC advertising recommendations are intended to record misguided practices around the world. This is also intended to prevent the rules from being circumvented. These rules are drawn up by the experts in the ICC Advertising and Marketing Commission. The Swiss experts for this commission are appointed by the Swiss National Committee, ICC Switzerland, which is based at economiesuisse. All relevant ICC recommendations are also available there. The ICC recommendations also serve as a basis and orientation for the Swiss Commission on Fair Trading, which can take action against unfair advertising as a neutral, independent institution.
