Saatchi & Saatchi: Second gold at the end of the year

Saatchi & Saatchi wins its second Gold Lion—and sixth Lion overall—at Cannes for the Vangardist campaign «The HIV+ Issue» as this year’s Cannes Lions festival comes to a close.

The agency Saatchi & Saatchi crowns its great haul at this year's creative festival in Cannes with the second Gold Lion at the end. In the "Branded Content & Entertainment" category, the Geneva-based agency won its sixth Lion in total with the campaign "The HIV+ Issue" for the Austrian magazine Vangardiste, thus completing the double medal set: the special issue of the magazine, printed with blood from HIV-positive people, secured two Golds, two Silvers and two Bronze. The campaign has already won gold and double silver in the "Direct" category and bronze once each in the "PR" and "Media" categories (Werbewoche.ch reported).

Saatchi & Saatchi Geneva is thus the lonely and great highlight of an otherwise rather meager Cannes year from a Swiss perspective. At least as far as the main Cannes Lions competition is concerned. Because the second big Swiss highlight was the sensational victory of the young duo Dominique Magnusson (Wirz) and Kevin Zysset (KSP) in the Young Lions, category "Cyber". The first ever Swiss medal in this competition - and gold at the same time (Werbewoche.ch reported).

With M&C Saatchi, a second agency also provided Swiss Lions: The Geneva-based agency secured bronze in the "Radio" category with a spot for the evangelical aid organization EPER (Werbewoche.ch reported). Stories, FCB Zurich, Publicis, Leo Burnett, Friendly Greetings, Havas and Walker bring home countable successes with their shortlist places. FCB Zurich also has a health lion in its bag: The agency won bronze at the Lions Health (category "Radio") kick-off with the hard-of-hearing Sergeant (Werbewoche.ch reported). At the same competition, Saatchi & Saatchi already hinted that "The HIV+ Issue" could be one of the big winners at this year's Cannes Festival, with two Silver Lions and one Bronze Lion.

Conclusion: Thanks to Saatchi & Saatchi's high-flyer campaign, Switzerland can draw a pleasing balance. With seven lions, one has won the last year's yield not only outnumbered by one, but also outperformed in terms of quality - in 2014, no Golden Lions made the journey home to Switzerland. The sensational victory at the Young Lions and the good yield at the Festival Lions Health are consolation for the fact that the Swiss-German agencies came away empty-handed this year - despite promising submissions.

Saatchi & Saatchi's exploit in Cannes has also put it in a promising position for a top ranking in the 2015 Werbewoche creative rankings - especially since the award season is far from over. At Ranking 2014 the agency did not make it into the top 10 led by Jung von Matt/Limmat. (hae)

The ten biggest mistakes in crisis PR

Cutting back on the early warning system, burying one's head in the sand, and failing to address people's fears—these and other mistakes are ones that communications managers must avoid at all costs when their company finds itself in a crisis.

The SDA subsidiary News Aktuell (Switzerland) and Faktenkontor have compiled the ten biggest deadly sins in crisis PR in an infographic.

Companies can do a lot of things wrong when it comes to crisis management. One of the most common mistakes is not practicing crisis prevention. A professional set of tools that recognizes potential trouble spots at an early stage can prevent an escalation. Other mistakes in crisis PR: hiding, lying and ignoring the emotions of those affected. This behavior has exactly the opposite effect: the communication crisis escalates. De-escalation requires prompt, transparent and comprehensive public information that takes people's feelings into account. A new infographic from news aktuell and Faktenkontor shows the biggest pitfalls in crisis PR.

Cannes: Shortlists for Stories and Saatchi & Saatchi

The Zurich-based film production company Stories has secured a spot in the finals of the Film Lions with its Suva film «Life Takes Courage.» And Saatchi & Saatchi Geneva has its sights set on a sixth Lion.

Out of 33 Swiss entries in the "Film" category, only one entry made it onto the shortlist. Stories has a good chance of winning a Lion in the "Corporate Image & Communication" sub-category. The film "Das Leben braucht Mut" has already won the Edi.14, among others (Werbewoche.ch reported) and was described by the jury as a "rarely touching work". And Cannes seems to be a good place for the Stories work: In October 2014, the Suva film was not only awarded three gold medals at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, but also - as a Swiss premiere - the Grand Prix (Werbewoche.ch reported).

Saatchi & Saatchi Geneva has once again secured another Swiss shortlist place: the Vangardist campaign "The HIV+ Issue", which has already won gold, double silver and double bronze, has a realistic chance of winning a sixth Lion in the "Branded Content & Entertainment" category, sub-category "Original Printed Content".

The lions in the final categories will be awarded on Saturday evening. Then we will see whether German-speaking Switzerland can also add its name to this year's medal table thanks to Stories. So far, all six Swiss Lions have gone to Geneva in French-speaking Switzerland. (hae)

Matter Gretener Lesch continues the campaign of the Swissinvest real estate fund.

In 2015, the Swissinvest real estate fund once again proved that you don't have to buy attention with large advertising budgets: Small ads are enough - if the headlines are as relevant as they are concise.

Lion Report, Day 10: These ten tips to heed at Cannes Lions parties to avoid a lion hangover

True to the motto, «Judge hard, party hard,» the judges enjoyed the more relaxed side of Cannes Lions this week. In other words: All the votes had been cast and almost all the winners had been decided—it was time for a wild celebration!

And if there was ever a step up from Cannes parties, it was Cannes parties with creative minds. Juror Grischa Rubinick, Executive Creative Director at The House and experienced party animal, can tell you a thing or two about it. But everyone can learn from his experience. Next year too! Here are the ten best tips:

Foto-24.06.15-22-33-39_0

1. in good company
A party is always a journey into the unknown. You might meet some cool people, but you might also fall asleep at the sight of some of the guests. That's why you should go to the event with good colleagues or friends right from the start. That way, fun is guaranteed. And after all, someone has to carry you back to the hotel if you crash.

2. crème de la crème
30 degrees almost every day. Not a cloud in sight. You need a good sun cream and a Panama hat (the hat can also come from China). By the way, rubbing on rosé only works in the evening. At least the sunburn is forgotten.

3. never f**k the jury
Sun, beach, beautiful women. Flirting yes, but not with fellow jury members. It's just too bad that they don't immediately identify themselves as jury members at parties.

4. be online.
When the rosé and friends are no longer of any use, the only thing left to do is check your smartphone to see where the next party is. But beware: the roaming monster is also up to mischief in Cannes. It's best to get WLAN or organize une carte SIM.

5. be offline.
Do you do non-stop live streams via Periscope thanks to your local SIM card? You're the hero for the people watching. For the people at the party? The freak.

6. make friends.
The next rosé round is on me! And here they are. The friends. But paying for the rosé, even though it's free for everyone? That's not possible and it looks stupid. But... what the hell, they're all full anyway. The next round is on me.

Foto-18.06.15-23-32-56_0

7 Who should pay for it?
The next round is on you. But watch out! A six-liter magnum bottle has been ordered. With the bill, you'll become the bottle yourself, amateur!

8. clothes make loot
See and be seen. This is especially true for women. But men also have to make an impression. Unless you have a yacht in the harbor. Then the look doesn't matter at all. Leonardo DiCaprio knows that - #dadbod.

9th Hello Austria, good to be here in Cannes
You should already know where you are. And above all, what the place is called. We are in Cannes, pronounced: "Kann", and not in "Känn". But if you're in Cannes for Canon, then Cannes can, ... forget it!

10. oracles are loved
You already know who will win the Golden Lions? Then speak up. Even if it's just a guess. You'll be a hero. At least until the truth comes out - but by then you'll be on your way back to Switzerland anyway.

Day 1: Meet & Greet at the buffet
Day 2: Hard day, soft wine
Day 3&4: Feast and vote
Day 7: Final spurt of voting
Day 8: Salt you can see and blood as ink

Roli Hofer: Performance for Carigiet exhibition

The Zurich State Museum is dedicating an exhibition to the children's book illustrator and artist Alois Carigiet. Roli Hofer is in charge of the promotional campaign.

Alois Carigiet (1902 - 1985) was not only a gifted children's book illustrator and author, but also a multi-talented painter, graphic artist and stage designer. He was one of the co-founders of the legendary Cabaret Cornichon in 1933. The National Museum Zurich is dedicating an exhibition to this multi-talented artist, which takes in many facets of his work and makes them accessible to adults and children.

The starting point of the tour is Carigiet's homeland, the canton of Graubünden. Visitors are immersed in the rich culture of Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland, the world of children's books, Carigiet's graphic works and his paintings. At the end of the exhibition, film costumes and a "making of" of the current Schellen-Ursli film adaptation by Xavier Koller will be shown. The extensive supporting program includes guided tours, lectures and podiums as well as exciting activities for children and families and a specially developed program for school classes.

Roli Hofer is once again responsible for the advertising campaign. The communication concept plays with the symbol of Schellen-Ursli without showing him directly. The colorful implementation of the bell on the one hand and the elegance of the signature underline the artistic and graphic component of Carigiet's work. The iconic subject invites adults and children of all ages to experience the oeuvre of this versatile artist in a new way.

Responsible at the Landesmuseum Zurich: Andreas Spillmann (Overall Management), Marco Castellaneta (Head of Museum Operations), Peter Krebs (Head of Marketing), Carole Neuenschwander (Project Management Marketing). Responsible for Creative & Art Direction: Roli Hofer.

Delegates' Meeting of Swiss Marketing

At the delegates' meeting of Swiss Marketing, the association's president Uwe Tännler and the entire central board were re-elected for the next three-year term of office. In the future, they want to be committed to promoting the dual education system.

On Friday, June 19, 2015, this year's delegates' meeting of the largest Swiss marketing association, Swiss Marketing, took place on the Gurten, Bern's local mountain. The entire central board and Uwe Tännler, president of the association for nine years, were re-elected. Tännler makes history with his re-election: it is the longest term of office of an association president so far. Stéphane Meier was also unanimously elected to the Central Board. As the representative of French-speaking Switzerland, Meier wants to make the association better known in the French-speaking cantons. In the course of simplifying the organizational structure, Nicole Beck-Taubenest is relinquishing her responsibility as Managing Director as of May 31, 2015. From now on, she will focus on collaborating on the already well-advanced professional field analysis, which will result in a comprehensive examination reform in 2017, and on managing the professional examinations. As part of the commitment to the dual education path, Uwe Tännler announced the founding of a company that will renew the entire examination organization. The Kaufmännische Verband will hold 60 percent and Swiss Marketing 40 percent of the company.

Ambitious growth targets

The association has been confronted with slightly declining membership figures for the past three years, which the president took as an opportunity to present a new approach to recruiting members by acquiring students preparing for the federal professional examinations. In this way, the ambitious but realistic goal of increasing membership to around 6000 in the medium term is to be achieved. Despite the merger of the Lausanne and Lémand clubs to form Club Vaud and the dissolution of the Thurgau regional club, the association can look back on more than 250 interesting events, all of which were very well received.

Young team in new business premises

The past financial year 2014 was characterized by major changes. The relocation from Olten to Zurich on August 1, 2014 was a challenge, as 90 percent of the staff had to be replaced due to the move. The new, young team quickly settled in and knew how to use the new beginning to its advantage. The smaller office space allows team members to work closely together at a rent equivalent to that of Olten. The central location in Kaufleuten Zurich in the heart of the city helps Swiss Marketing to establish numerous cooperations and enables the use of attractive synergies.

Innovation award for the promotion of digitization

Swisscable, the trade association for Swiss communications networks, has launched the «Swisscable Innovation Award» to recognize companies or projects for their exceptional contributions to digitalization.

The degree of innovation, market suitability and the potential to prevent a digital divide in Switzerland are assessed. The prize is endowed with 20'000 Swiss francs and will be awarded for the first time in 2015.

Identify and tap potential

According to Swisscable, the success of cable network companies in infrastructure competition to date, which is a key driver of developments in telecommunications, should also motivate others. With the award, the association wants to ensure that promising developments are recognized and exploited. "The award is intended to encourage innovations around digitalization to be brought to the market," president Pierre Kohler was quoted as saying in a statement Thursday. The inaugural announcement was made June 19 at Swisscable's general assembly in Bern. Companies from Switzerland can participate.

Criteria and jury

Anyone who wants to win the Swisscable Innovation Award must be able to demonstrate how novel and marketable submitted projects are in the area of digitization. In addition, a submission must contribute to preventing a digital divide in Switzerland. The prize is awarded
by a six-member jury consisting of four members from the fields of telecommunications, education, research and politics, as well as two members of Swisscable's Board of Directors. The jury decides on the award in a two-stage process. The deadline for entries is September 30, 2015. Applications for the award are being accepted now at [email protected].

E-commerce advertising market remains stable

With advertising spending of 53.1 million Swiss francs, the Swiss e-commerce advertising market saw a slight decline in May compared to the previous month, but posted a 9.1 percent increase year-over-year.

At 11.1%, the share of eCommerce advertising is down slightly compared to total advertising pressure in Switzerland, but remains stable at over 10%.

Print in countertrend

It is striking that the print media group accounts for 20% of the advertising volume. This not only represents an increase of six percent compared to the previous month, but also a clear counter-trend compared to the development of the Swiss advertising market as a whole. The print media group is particularly relevant in the consumer electronics and search & find categories.

Top 5 brands with ever higher shares

In May, the advertising presence of the categories is again clearly dominated by the top 5 brands. The gap between the brands with the highest advertising pressure and the remaining brands widened noticeably compared to April. In all categories, the top 5 brands account for more than 40% of the advertising volume.

Admazing completes repositioning

The digital media company Admazing is repositioning itself as an online media agency. In doing so, Admazing wants to take account of its growing strategic consulting services.

In addition, the agency now works mainly with the "Double Click" digital marketing software package from Google, which also resulted in a complete redevelopment of the "Adcockpit".

The company has long relied on the intelligent combination of technology, creativity and media expertise when purchasing digital media services, according to an agency press release. Customers should receive comprehensive advice across all digital channels, a clear strategic approach and a high level of transparency.

"The fragmented digital channel can only be used sensibly for clients with intensive consulting, a lot of strategic work and the right use of state-of-the-art technologies. Our goal is always to maximize performance for the advertising client," Catrin Rubenson, CEO Admazing, is quoted as saying in the press release. Together with the international parent company DQ&A Media Group, the company will now be able to do this even better, according to Rubenson.

More technology and transparency

Central elements of the new positioning are media strategy models such as "Touch Tell Sell (TTS)", the comprehensive "Double Click" digital marketing software package from Google and close collaboration with specialized teams at Group level. This enables better performance and greater transparency from the planning and implementation to the optimization of digital advertising campaigns - both throughout Switzerland and internationally.

Programmatic advertising and data ownership

This means that even demanding projects in the areas of multi-channel/device tracking, dynamic retargeting and reporting can be implemented quickly and efficiently. For example, the full power of automated media buying (programmatic media buying) can now be utilized. The ever-increasing volumes of data generated by this belong exclusively to the clients in terms of "data ownership".

In addition, individualized dashboards can now be quickly developed that are perfectly tailored to customer requirements. Alternatively, every customer can continue to use the Adcockpit - in the current, completely redeveloped version.
