SVP successfully relied on fear and coolness at the same time

The SVP has also succeeded in mobilizing new voters. While it continued to appeal to its core voters by playing on the fear surrounding asylum—a topic it has been exploiting for years—it also presented itself quite differently on social media: upbeat, positive, and with a healthy dose of self-deprecating humor.

"In the Blocher era, the SVP was a party that always gave the thumbs down," campaign consultant Daniel Graf told the news agency SDA on Monday. However, ranting alone does not garner many sympathy points outside of restaurant restaurants. "It doesn't appeal to the Facebook generation."

Positive emotions

With its videos published on the internet, the SVP has managed to arouse new, positive emotions. "And the (Facebook) thumbs went up," said Graf. The SVP can now even afford to make fun of itself in a film. "Using irony in an election campaign is actually a high-risk game." But for the national-conservative SVP, it seemed "cool" when former Federal Councillor Christoph Blocher jumped into the swimming pool in the election campaign clip "Welcome to SVP". Lausanne political scientist Oscar Mazzoleni has also heard the new tones in the SVP election campaign: "The SVP is playing with self-irony. Its representatives have succeeded in showing that they are not always serious, but can also be funny and amusing, especially in their video clip. They have succeeded in showing that they are not evil." The SVP also succeeded in "neutralizing certain criticisms". The SVP had won over voters who were not necessarily SVP voters and also mobilized new voters, said Mazzoleni. "But the SVP's political line remains constant. The party has not weakened anything in terms of content." Political scientist Werner Seitz also suspects that the SVP has mobilized new voters. The party was probably also helped by the fact that fewer voters from other parties went to the polls.

High online presence

Facebook is the most important social media tool for reaching and mobilizing the masses online, said campaign consultant Daniel Graf. The SVP has succeeded more than any other party in spreading its visibility across the entire Internet via Facebook and disseminating its "black and white issues". "Facebook hardly knows any shades of gray. Parties with differentiated messages therefore have a harder time." The Greens, for example, were very active on Facebook with many posts. But they only reached their own clientele. (SDA)

Alpha 245: High-tech location Canton Aargau

The Zurich agency Alpha 245 is establishing the canton of Aargau as a high-tech location. Innovative entrepreneurs have their say in an advertising campaign.

The canton of Aargau is one of the world's most attractive locations for future-oriented companies. One reason for this is probably the "Hightech Aargau" program launched in 2012, which contributes to the promotion of innovation and business locations. At the heart of this is the transfer of knowledge and technology between companies and universities and research institutes. In order to make this known, Alpha 245 has developed a campaign in collaboration with the canton of Aargau in which visionary entrepreneurs have their say. They explain in their own words why they consider the canton of Aargau to be the ideal location for the future of their company and why high-tech plays a central role in this.

Valencia: Disney fun for a whole year

For the third time, Coop and Disney are carrying out their successful collection promotion. Valencia Kommunikation was once again commissioned to put Mickey and his friends in the right light.

Disney is back in the Coop. In the big "Collecting and Leisure Fun", 160 pictures of popular Disney stars can be collected. This time, the pictures are not pasted into an ordinary collector's book, but into an extensive annual calendar. The calendar is packed with ideas for games and leisure time activities involving the Disney stars, bringing the world of Disney to life for the whole of next year. Valencia Kommunikation was thus able to provide communications support for the third Disney promotion.

In addition to a variety of POS and print measures such as advertisements and flyers, in-store radio and TV advertising will also be used. The cheerful TV spot, which uses excerpts from well-known Disney films as a communicative foundation, will be particularly eye-catching. "Disney characters are very popular with young and old. It is therefore important and right to put them at the center of the promotion's communication," says Valencia CEO Michael Gerber.

The promotion runs from October 19 to December 5, 2015 in various Coop formats. For every 20 Swiss francs spent, customers will receive a pack of five Disney collectible pictures. The annual calendar and other merchandising products are available separately.

The "Höngger" launches new newspaper for Wipkingen

Bucking all trends in the newspaper industry, the small publishing house behind the Höngg neighborhood newspaper—which has been independent since 1926—is expanding.

In collaboration with various institutions from the Wipkingen district, the "Höngger" will publish the Wipkinger Zeitung for the first time on March 31, 2016. This will be published quarterly in a large print run together with the "Höngger" and, in addition to all households in Höngg, will also be distributed free of charge to all letterboxes in Zurich-Wipkingen - including those 70 percent with "advertising stop" stickers. Around 9,500 households with almost 16,000 residents are thus reached in Wipkingen alone - and in Höngg, where the "Wipkinger" is published as the second edition of the "Höngger", over 21,000 people in around 12,000 households. Both neighborhood newspapers are printed in tabloid format.

The focus is on current events, reports on past events and previews of upcoming events, supplemented by a calendar of events for the following quarter, available in print and also updated online at any time. Wipkinger Online" will be launched at the beginning of next year at the latest and will then show in advance what Wipkingen has to offer.

LSA ranking 2015: No surprises

There has been little change at the top of the ranking of Switzerland's largest communications and media agencies. As in the previous year, the top three spots are held by Publicis Communications Switzerland, the Wirz Group, and the Y&R Group.

Havas Group Switzerland was able to make up one place and is ahead of Leo Burnett Switzerland, Jung von Matt/Limmat and the Bern-based agency Contexta. The ranking of LSA agencies is primarily for transparency, but also as a guide for clients when choosing an agency, according to a statement. Less than 10 percent of all advertising agencies based in Switzerland meet the association's quality requirements and have been accepted as members of Leading Swiss Agencies. Currently, the association counts a total of 72 individual agencies.

Communications Agencies

The 2015 ranking of the leading communications agencies in Switzerland is based on the gross operating revenues (BBE) of 2014 (see "Explanations on the ranking"). With few exceptions, all members of the association participated in the ranking. LSA's 56 communications agencies generated a total of around CHF 313 million in gross operating revenues in 2014, a slight increase on 2013.

Media agencies

Since 2008, LSA's media agencies have published their own ranking. Media agencies have a different business model from advertising agencies and are therefore not directly comparable with them. The 16 LSA media agencies generated CHF 77.9 million in gross operating revenues in 2014, 9.5 percent more than in the previous year.

The ranking was established on the basis of the effective BBE (gross operating income) and is published without figures - but with information on the employees.

Explanations about the ranking

After an interruption of five years - due to the effects of the US stock exchange law "Sarbanes-Oxley Act" - the LSA ranking (formerly bsw ranking) was resumed in 2007. This means that comparisons with previous years are also possible again. Since 2014, companies have been combined as a group that are listed under the same brand in the
market or have subsidiaries that are also LSA members. The 2015 ranking is based on gross operating income in 2014.

Gross operating income:
Agency's own services charged to clients, including freelancers: fees from consulting of all kinds, compensation for textual, graphic and other work according to the income statement, excluding VAT and transitory items or income of other kinds.

Categories:
Agencies are listed within their respective categories by actual gross operating revenue generated.

Last but not least: Advertising to fall asleep to

If you're well insured, you sleep well. To demonstrate this, M&C Saatchi put billboards into a deep sleep.

On behalf of the insurance company Hollard in South Africa. The six large billboards have their eyes open in daylight and slowly fall into a relaxed sleep as dusk falls. Like all those who don't have to worry at night, but feel safe and sound. Billboards that react to their environment always have their appeal - no matter how original the idea. (hae)

Scholtysik & Partner curates the multimedia exhibition on the Gotthard Base Tunnel

Eight months before the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, the multimedia exhibition «Gottardo 2016» is going on tour to train stations throughout Switzerland. Scholtysik & Partner was responsible for curating the content and designing the traveling exhibition.

The exhibition illustrates the historical dimension of the Gotthard Base Tunnel and ventures a glimpse into the mobility of the future. The scenography and implementation were carried out by Aroma, an agency for three-dimensional communication in Zurich-Oerlikon.

Scholtysik_Gottardo_1

In five modules, the interactive exhibition "Gottardo 2016" provides an in-depth insight into the truly historic dimensions of the new Gotthard tunnel as well as a glimpse into the mobility of the future. It conveys knowledge, experience and creates an awareness of the par force achievement through the Swiss Alps. In addition to the astonishing facts about the "world record tunnel", the multimedia show illustrates the technological challenges during construction and takes a look at the significance of the construction of the century for Switzerland.

Scholtysik_Gottardo_2

The undisputed attraction is the staging of the tunnel cross-section, almost 10 meters high, which is set up at individual stations of the touring exhibition and invites visitors to discover it for themselves. The "Gottardo 2016" touring exhibition will make its first stop at Zurich main station from October 15-20, 2015. It will then make guest appearances in Visp, Zug, Geneva, Bern, St. Gallen, Biel, Basel and Lucerne. Further locations are being planned. The current tour schedule is available at Gottardo2016.ch viewable.

Ogilvy & Mather: The full program for the new JAGUAR XE

With the launch of the new XE, Jaguar aims to establish itself in the premium midsize sedan segment and take on Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and others. Ogilvy & Mather pulled out all the stops for the launch campaign.

The new Jaguar proves that it absolutely has what it takes, not only with its elegant and compact design, but also with the vast amount of innovative technologies that make it a serious challenger to Audi, BMW, Mercedes & Co. To effectively present the model as just such a challenger, Ogilvy & Mather pulled out all the stops for the launch campaign: from customer mailings to full-page advertisements and regional and local dealer ads to the launch poster and a special large-format poster at the airport:

150414_JAG_XE_Leuchtplakat_Airport_GE_1890x1920_e

As much attention was paid to the design of the car as to its pioneering interior. Thus, the new Jaguar XE was staged from the outside in as well as from the inside out, with the aim of inspiring as many interested parties as possible to take a test drive with a Jaguar specialist.

The result is a coherent campaign that appeals both to potential customers who are convinced primarily by technical arguments and to those who are guided more by aesthetic considerations when choosing their new car.

Agency at the airport wins triple metal at the Austrian Columbus Award ceremony

Last Thursday, the Dialog Marketing Verband Österreich (DMVÖ) awarded the coveted Columbus Trophies in Vienna. For the first time, a foreign agency, Agentur am Flughafen, made it into the top 3 of the dialog marketing rankings in Austria.

In addition to the agency at the airport, another Swiss agency, Wirz Wietlisbach, was successful and placed in the ranking. At this year's award ceremony, the creatives from Altenrhein were honored with 3 works at once:

The acquisition mailing "Immobillienmarkt aufgeräumt" for T. Ruggiero & Söhne was awarded gold. The aim of the leading painting business in eastern Switzerland was to attract more real estate administrators and property managers as customers. To achieve this, the creative team from Altenrhein designed a direct mailing consisting of a paint roller and a paint pad. As soon as the recipient pulled the roller over the ink pad and unrolled it in the white mailing box lid, he learned what Ruggieros had to say to him.

The overall campaign for Weinrebellen.ch was praised with silver. The rebellious wine merchants had had enough of distinguished wine talk. So the agency at the airport developed the entire DNA of the brand from A to Z for the rebels, created a new web presence and ensured strong guerrilla actions. The agency also promoted the reopening of the store. This was done with a wine manifesto, a rebel party, bottle bank guerrilla actions and impressive F 12 posters.

Unbenannt-11_69

The multi-stage door-opener campaign for the Schützengarten brewery in Sankt Gallen was honored with bronze. The brewery launched Gallus 612, a unique old-style ale. For the acquisition, the airport agency developed a sealed teaser letter that asked restaurateurs to add Gallus 612 to their product line. The next step was to send a beer bible bound in fine linen and a Gallus 612 tasting bottle with accompanying glass embedded between the book covers.
