Maxomedia: Soothing the stomach with Riopan

Maxomedia produced a TV commercial for Nycomed Pharma promoting Riopan Stomach Gel. The creative concept communicates the product's benefits through clear visuals and classical music.

How unpleasant stomach problems can be is shown by the sudden disruption of a harmonious world of images and sounds. The situation calms down again with Riopan gel. Maxomedia won Nycomed Pharma as a client in a pitch last summer. The new commercial was produced in collaboration with Elefant Studios and can now be seen on various TV channels.

Zurich Tokyo: New party series announced by Pro Sieben

The Zurich-Tokyo agency is promoting Pro Sieben's latest party series, «Pro Sieben Love Air.» To do so, the advertisers have developed a visual concept in the «airline style» of the late 1960s.

National advertisements, a website and a TV commercial draw attention to the events. As with last year's "We Love Boat" series, the aim is once again to bring the station's claim "We love to entertain you" to life.

Licensing dispute: Stage victory for Schawinski - Uvek must go over the books

The Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (UVEK) must reexamine the awarding of licenses for local radio stations in Aargau and southeastern Switzerland, as well as for a local television station in eastern Switzerland. Roger Schawinski and another applicant have won a preliminary victory before the Federal Administrative Court.

In 2008, the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (Uvek) awarded the FM local radio license for Aargau Radio Argovia. Competitor Roger Schawinski and his Radio AG (in formation) came away empty-handed. Schawinski suffered the same fate in the region of south-eastern Switzerland. For this region, the department of Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger awarded the contract to Südostschweiz Radio AG. The license for a local television station in eastern Switzerland was awarded to TVO AG. The application from Tele Säntis (in formation) was rejected. The unsuccessful applicants appealed to the Federal Administrative Court.

Freedom of expression and supply at risk?
The judges in Bern have now upheld the appeals, annulled the contested licensing decisions and sent the dossiers back to the Federal Office of Communications for reassessment. In the three cases, the Federal Office of Communications must examine whether the successful licensees jeopardize freedom of expression and freedom of choice. This is the case if they occupy a dominant market position in the broadcasting area and abuse this position. In its rulings, the Federal Administrative Court comes to the conclusion that this cannot be denied without in-depth clarification. To this end, the Uvek may have to call in the Competition Commission (Weko). According to the court, it is clear that the groups of companies to which the licensees belong have at least a "strong position" in their catchment areas.
Radio Südostschweiz is part of the Südostschweiz media group with numerous newspapers, a local television station and publishing houses. Radio Argovia is part of the AZ Media Group, which publishes the Aargauer Zeitung with other daily and weekly newspapers and operates the local television station Tele M1 as well as an online portal. TVO AG is part of Tagblatt Medien AG with the regional radio station FM1, the St. Galler Tagblatt and a free weekly magazine.
However, according to the judges in Bern, it is not objectionable that the department assessed the content of the licensees' applications more favorably than those of their losing competitors. However, the Uvek will still have to examine whether a transitional regulation is necessary until the new licensing decisions become legally binding.
The court confirmed the award of the local television license for the Jura Arc region to Canal Alpha Plus SA. ARC TV SA had complained about this. The decisions of the Federal Administrative Court are final and can no longer be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court.

Publicitas has renewed a total of seven exclusive contracts for advertising sales in French-speaking Switzerland. Among others, the contracts with the Société Neuchâteloise de Presse (SNP) have been extended through 2015.

Energy: Program is adapted to concession requirements

As part of the planned transfer of the license, Energy Zürich is launching the previously announced expansion of its news and programming offerings. The editorial and on-air teams will be expanded.

The editorial offering during prime time in the morning, midday and evening will be expanded. The license application submitted by Giuseppe Scaglione for RMC provides for eleven positions in the news area, as Energy Managing Director Dani Büchi told the news agency SDA when asked. This is the orientation. In addition, a comprehensive quality assurance system will be introduced that meets the requirements of the new license, the company announced on Monday. Energy Zurich will also refrain from broadcasting speed camera warnings, which will no longer be permitted under the new license from January 1, 2010. Speed camera reports will be removed from the program with immediate effect. It is hoped that the approval of the Uvek for the transmission of the RMC license will be obtained before the end of this year. Energy Zurich will continue to broadcast from the Uetliberg without interruption.

Last but not least: Hirschmann file - Blick provides assistance

The controversy surrounding Carl Hirschmann shows no signs of ending. The media are divided—guilty or innocent? Is the club owner the culprit, or are the sexual allegations against him fabricated? Do the judges at least know the answer? Even if they don’t—now Ringier is stepping in to shed some light on the matter with a reader survey…

Monday's edition of Blick turns its readers into judges, the jury in an extremely sensitive court case, the case of C. H. from Z. The newspaper features an article that examines the Hirschmann affair in detail. Incriminating and exonerating material is presented. Ultimately, it is up to the reader to decide. Does plaintiff Jasmin tell the truth or should Carl Hirschmann be believed? Or is everyone lying? A truly innovative reader survey, a project with a future. After all, it can relieve the burden on the judiciary and protect the state coffers. Help us too, in the name of justice.
