As the Uvek announced on Friday, it has approved the takeover of the FM license of Radio Monte Carlo (RMC). The Uvek examined the transmission application in detail and came to the conclusion that the conditions for approval were met, according to the press release. Radio Energy Zurich is committed to making "significant adjustments". The changes in content will be most noticeable to listeners: In future, Energy will broadcast information magazines on important topics in politics, society, culture, science and sport at prime time. Voting and election programs will also be on the schedule in future. The private broadcaster must employ more program creators and pay them and interns higher salaries. The approval also includes the requirement to almost double the amount for training and further education for program creators from CHF 60,000 to CHF 100,000 per year.
In recent months, Energy Zurich has already expanded its range of programs and hired several radio professionals with many years of experience, writes the private broadcaster. Energy Zürich is convinced that it will be able to meet the Uvek's content requirements in full. Although Energy Zürich's new broadcasting area is smaller than that of its direct competitors, Radio 24, Radio Zürisee and Radio 1, Energy Zürich still has a potential audience of around one million listeners. The downsizing is unlikely to have an impact on advertising customers, Managing Director Dani Büchi told SDA: "We see it more as an opportunity than a threat". With Energy Zurich, customers would receive the core area without wastage, which could develop into a competitive advantage.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Energy Zurich, Marco Castellaneta: "We would like to thank the management and team of Energy Zurich for their outstanding performance. They have shown great commitment and loyalty in these difficult times".
