Swiss Television Award 2010: Walter Roderer honored for his life's work

The "Swiss Television Award 2010" was presented for the second time on Friday in Zurich's Maag Event Hall by the two Swiss program guides Tele and TV-Star. Walter Roderer was honored with the Lifetime Award, and the prize in the Star category went to SF presenter Nik Hartmann.

Winner Category Lifetime Award: Walter Roderer
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Award, according to a statement. The jury awarded the Swiss theater, film actor and cabaret artist Walder Roderer with the well-deserved prize for his life's work. Laudator Erich Vock presented the award to his revered role model to a standing ovation from the celebrities from show business and the economy in attendance.
Winner category Star: Nik Hartmann
The prize in the Star category went to SF presenter Nik Hartmann. Alongside Susanne Kunz and Reto Brennwald, who were also nominated, he "didn't think he had much of a chance," as he revealed in the run-up. Beni Thurnheer, himself a former winner in this category, presented the silver statue to his young colleague. In recent years, Nik Hartmann has impressively demonstrated what it means to present competently, sensitively, freshly, freely and sometimes even cheekily, according to the jury. At the same time, Nik has always remained himself. He could actually host any show and was probably the most suitable candidate for a big Saturday or Sunday evening show.
Winner category broadcast: "Eco
The readers of Tele, TV-Star, the two online platforms Tele.ch and TVStar.ch, and the viewers of Sat.1 Switzerland voted the business show "Eco" from Swiss TV as the best TV show. Also nominated in this cateogy were the live program "La Bohème im Hochhaus" from SF and "Bumann, der Restauranttester" from 3+. Actor and satirist Mike Müller, who received the Swiss Television Award in 2008 for "Giacobbo/Müller Late Service Public" in the same category, was the laudator.
Winner Category Film: "The Registrar".
Micha Lewinsky's comedy about a registrar who is supposed to marry off her school sweetheart and does everything in her power to prevent it, came out on top in the Film category. Director and screenwriter Lewinsky was unable to accept the trophy himself because he had traveled to Los Angeles with his family a few days earlier. However, he thanked his crew and the jury for the honor in a video message. The award was accepted on behalf of leading actor Dominque Jann and producer Anne-Catherine Lang-Majer from the hands of actress Sabina Schneebeli.
Regional category: "Lifestyle", Tele Züri
The jury examined three very different formats that run on Swiss regional stations: "Wildeisen's Cooking," "Automobile Review" and "Lifestyle. The "Lifestyle" magazine, hosted by Patty Boser, finally won out with the jury. Claudio Zuccholini made not only the Tele Züri crew laugh with his comedy interlude during the laudation.
The evening was presented by the SF presenter duo Sandra Studer and Rainer Maria Salzgeber.

Switzerland dresses up for Die Klappe

With 10 percent more entries than the previous year, the 30th edition of the “Die Klappe” film competition in Hamburg proved to be a strong year. Among the winners were two Swiss agencies: Spillmann Felser Leo Burnett and Grayling.

"The Swiss as we know and love them," was the jury's opinion when the "Berghütte" commercial was discussed. In the SFLB film, the mountain people lovingly clean up their alp before the first tourists arrive at the start of the season. The idea for Switzerland Tourism was rewarded with a silver clapperboard. Michi Fueter's production for Condor only just missed out on gold in the final round. Grayling - until recently known as Trimedia - won another silver medal with three short commercials for Microsoft Switzerland and Windows 7.
A total of 327 works were submitted, 35 of which were awarded a hat. Apart from the award-winning films, there were almost no other films from Switzerland. The big winner of the competition for moving images - as it is called exactly - was an "anthem" for the Hornbach DIY store. The creatively illustrated poem won three out of four golden flaps. The film by Nico Beyer and Heimat Werbeagentur encourages people to follow through with projects they dream about. For example, remodeling your apartment. Gold was also awarded for a self-promotion by the agency Lukas Lindemann Rosinski. The film, rich in ideas across all eras, was made to mark the award for Newcomer Agency of the Year. The new agency LLR was founded by three former managing directors of the Jung von Matt Group. Silver was awarded for another self-promotion. Kolle Rebbe had 15-year-old and therefore rather pubescent teenagers read out the congratulatory cards that had arrived for the 15th anniversary of their agency, which led to funny comments and slips of the tongue.
During the two-day discussions of the international jury, it was felt that many productions lacked the courage to try something new. The somewhat tighter budgets in many places probably leave little room for experimentation. In the end, however, the audience at the award show on Friday was enthusiastic about "a great deal of quality craftsmanship". The jury was somewhat astonished by the fact that 80 percent of the works submitted in the "Social Media" category were entirely conventional films with charitable content. Some advertising agencies still need to get the message across that Facebook and the like are no longer the latest media for moving images...

More marketing for sugar factories

The Swiss sugar factories Aarberg and Frauenfeld ZAF want to strengthen their market position through more marketing and the search for new sugar products.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ZAF, Jürg Rückert, does not want to rule out marketing abroad in the longer term. At the ZAF General Meeting in Frauenfeld on Friday, the Swiss sugar factories were able to report record results for the 2008/09 financial year.
For the time being, marketing and lobbying efforts in Switzerland are to be stepped up. On the one hand, the aim is to promote beet sugar as a Swiss and natural product. On the other hand, sugar producers are resisting the planned market liberalization for agricultural products.

iPad generates keen interest among advertisers

The iPad will be launched on April 3. However, it is already generating a great deal of interest in the advertising industry.

The price of the publishers' new advertising space on the Apple tablet: 75,000 to 300,000 dollars. However, many technical issues are still unresolved, as well as distribution issues, according to Volker Nickel, spokesman for the German Advertising Association ZAW, speaking to Pressetext.ch. However, it is assumed that mobile communication tools will play a significant role in the future, but it cannot be expected that the development will work overnight.
Publishers are pushing for higher prices for electronic advertising than for print, while advertisers are hoping that electronic advertising can save costs in the future. Standardized billing models are not yet available. Up to now, payment has been based on how often an ad has been viewed online or on the reach of a newspaper. However, it is not yet possible to estimate the popularity and distribution of the iPad.

Google censorship in China: authorities to correct public opinion

After the internet company Google announced its withdrawal from China last week, the Chinese authorities are now setting out to control public opinion on the dispute.

Very specific guidelines have already been issued to media companies in China, which stipulate how reporting on this topic should look.
192913 Google stops self-censorship in China - authorities continue to censor
All websites should remove text, images, sounds and videos from their content that support Google, decorate it with flowers or ask Google to stay. This is what the online news portal China Digital Times quotes from the leaked media directive. The use of content and information found on the main pages of the central government is not permitted under a new title or in a different context. Furthermore, the country's journalists and media employees are also not allowed to publish any discussion pieces on the topic or conduct further in-depth reports.
According to Pressetext.ch, the Internet Affairs Bureau, which monitors news reporting on the Chinese internet on behalf of the Central Propaganda Department, is the originator of the stricter rules for the media's handling of the Google censorship issue. According to China Digital Times, it addresses all major operators of news websites in the country, which are said to have received the new regulations several times a day. Chinese bloggers and journalists are already comparing the current censorship guidelines with the directives of the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell's surveillance novel "1984".

Public Council appreciates "Club" discussion forum

The program «Club» offers the Audience Council a good opportunity for in-depth discussions and providing background information. However, its style and choice of guests would need to be clearly distinct from those of «Arena.».

The Public Council appreciates the broad range of topics and the reference to current affairs, it announced on Friday. Numerous council members have observed a stronger focus on political and economic topics in recent months. However, controversy, as in the "Arena", is not the aim of the "Club".
Rather, the survey should make a differentiated contribution to opinion-forming. The Council would like to see a greater focus on other social issues such as education and partnerships. In addition, women and younger guests are strongly underrepresented in the program. In general, however, the selection of guests is good and understandable. The Council welcomes the fact that the program brings together experts and those directly affected.
Audience Council takes a liking to pop stories
The council members appreciate the wide selection of songs and the background to them. The backgrounds and anecdotes to the songs are told by the artists themselves. For the Council, this is an important plus point of the radio series, as it writes in a press release on Friday.
The moderation receives a lot of praise. In the eyes of the audience council, it is clear, comprehensible, suitably relaxed and sometimes refreshingly cheeky. The Internet plays a major role in this series. The corresponding
Council members find the homepage appealing. They would like
but also a complete list of the titles played and the complete
Contributions and songs on the net.
