Pro Juventute: Megaposter campaign at its headquarters in Zurich

This Sunday, on the 80th anniversary of Mother's Day, Pro Juventute is calling for a redefinition of Mother's Day at a political level: with a huge poster on the wall of its building, the foundation is calling for mothers and fathers to be strengthened in politics and the world of work.

With the slogan "80 years of Mother's Day in Switzerland - where do mothers stand today?" on a mega poster on the wall of its headquarters building to mark the 80th anniversary of Mother's Day this Sunday, the foundation is calling for the empowerment of mothers, parents and children. Stephan Oetiker, Director of Pro Juventute, said that the poster campaign was intended to encourage society to reflect and express its own demand for a sustainable family policy and thus the promotion of children and young people. Even 80 years after its introduction, Mother's Day still fails to recognize the achievements and daily work of mothers in politics and the world of work. The framework conditions in politics and business need to be created for all forms of family models today.

BAK Film Director Bideau moves to the FDFA

The head of the Film Section at the Federal Office of Culture (FOC), Nicolas Bideau, is leaving the film scene. He will take over the management of Presence Switzerland at the beginning of 2011.

Bideau is leaving the management of the Film Section at the Federal Office of Culture FOC at the end of the year. He will take over the management of the Federal Agency Presence Switzerland in the General Secretariat of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA. In recent years, Bideau has been at odds with well-known exponents of the film industry, the SDA writes in a press release. Although voices of praise have repeatedly been heard in the industry, he has mainly been met with public criticism. Bideau is leaving behind a shambles, said Rolf Schmid, President of the SFP film producers' association, when asked by the SDA news agency on Thursday.
Nicolas Bideau took over the technical and organizational management of the BAK Film Section in autumn 2005 and has been very present in the media ever since. However, his successor would have to communicate better with all those involved. What is needed now is a service provider who works for the industry and not the other way around, said Ivo Kummer, Director of the Solothurn Film Festival.

Aust's media project "The Week" on the brink of collapse

Stefan Aust's media project «Die Woche» appears to be on the verge of being shut down. The publishing giants Springer and WAZ no longer wish to support the costly magazine project.

The two potential shareholders of the magazine have jointly announced for the first time that they will not be pursuing the project in the current economic environment. This was reported by Focus.de on Friday. The Sunday magazine "Die Woche" would possibly have hit the publisher's own advertising business of the two Sunday magazines "Bild am Sonntag" and "Welt am Sonntag". According to estimates by industry experts, the project would have required an initial investment of well over 50 million euros.

Canton Aargau wants to abolish the Official Gazette

From 2012, the Official Gazette of the Canton of Aargau will no longer be published once a week in printed form. The proposal of the cantonal government is to publish the official gazette in electronic form only on the Internet.

The canton wants to save money by discontinuing the printed edition. In addition, the gazette with official publications from the canton, the municipalities and the judicial authorities should be up-to-date, customer-friendly and accessible free of charge, as the cantonal government announced on Friday. The contents of the official gazette have already been available on the Internet for eight years. According to the government council, an average of 7,000 to 8,000 hits per month are registered. Since the beginning of the year, the issues have been published on the Internet as PDF files.
The current certified circulation is 3,495 copies, of which 451 copies are sent free of charge to councillors, judicial authorities and the cantonal administration. Among other things, the municipalities are obliged to subscribe to the newspaper. For more than 100 years, innkeepers also had to subscribe to the official gazette for their restaurants. In 1994, however, the people approved an amendment to the Publication Act. Since then, landlords no longer have to publish the official gazette.
The parties have until the beginning of July to comment on the Government Council's proposal to publish the Official Gazette and the systematic compilation of Aargau law in electronic form only.
