New LGK surprises with iPad for Bernmobil

10 randomly selected people will be presented with a brand new iPad at this very moment. The first surprise event has already taken place: To the sound of trumpet fanfares and cheerleader cheers, the iPad was given away by the director of Bernmobil, René Schmied, in person. The congratulations to the first role model and iPad winner will now be used for PR measures and to publicize the unusual competition via streetcar hangers, posters, flyers and table displays in MacDonalds. With the prospect of winning one of 9 more iPads, the aim is to motivate as many passengers as possible to behave correctly on streetcars and buses.
For several years, Bernmobil has been committed to combating littering - the inconsiderate leaving or throwing away of waste in and around streetcars and buses. Instead of issuing bans, Bernmobil regularly sensitizes passengers with eye-catching campaigns.
Responsible at Bernmobil: Roman Gattlen (Head of Marketing), Monika Scheiwiller (Head of Marketing Communications). Responsible at the New LGK: André Benker (Creative Direction), Lukas Schmid (Text), Stephan Wittwer (Art Direction), Stephan Nopper (Graphics), Nicole Brunner, Alfredo Trasatti (Consulting).

Civis Media Prize 2010: Seven programs awarded

On Thursday evening, seven European radio and television programs were awarded the Civis Media Prize for Integration and Cultural Diversity at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

This year's prize, worth a total of 46,000 euros, went to productions from the European broadcasters Arte, Deutschlandradio Kultur, France 2, RBB, RTL and ZDF as well as the National Film School of Denmark. The Civis Media Prize is awarded for program achievements that promote peaceful coexistence in the European immigration society. 616 programs from 23 countries in the European Union and Switzerland took part in the 2010 European competition. The patrons of the CIVIS Media Prize 2010 are Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle and the President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek.
French author Frédéric Castaignède received the European CIVIS Television Award in the Information category for his documentary "Grand Format: La Cité des Romes". The author portrays the fate of around 20,000 Roma who live in the ghetto of Nadejda, isolated behind a large concrete wall, separated from the rest of the population of the small Bulgarian town of Sliven.
The European CIVIS Television Award in the entertainment category went to the authors Yamina Benguigui and Dominique Lancelot for their television film "Aïcha" Aïcha, a young Parisian woman of Algerian origin, lives with her family in a suburban housing estate. A multicultural society in which everyone watches everyone else. Cultural traditions determine the lives of the individual family members and often lead to almost hopeless situations.
The German CIVIS Television Award in the Information category went to journalist Insa Onken for her documentary "Rich Brother". In it, she portrays the African boxer Ben, who - coming from Cameroon - fights his way through the shady Berlin boxing world.
German-Turkish comedian and cabaret artist Bülent Ceylan was awarded the German CIVIS Television Prize in the entertainment category. In his stage show "Bülent Ceylan live!", the man from Mannheim with Turkish roots shows himself to be a man with many faces and voices. His characters speak plainly, his analyses of the zeitgeist are spot on.
The European CIVIS Radio Prize in the category of long programs of six minutes or more went to the authors Inge Braun and Helmut Huber for "Werd ich mit Singen deutsch? A feature on naturalization". The piece tells the story of a naturalization ceremony in Berlin-Neukölln, which ends with the joint singing of the national anthem.
Radio journalist Magdalena Bienert was awarded the European CIVIS Radio Prize in the short programs up to six minutes category for her feature "Radiofritzen am Nachmittag: Ein blutiges Laken - Deine ganze Zukunft. Of new innocence for one night". Magdalena Bienert tells the story of 20-year-old Muslim Leyla, who has lost her innocence.
The European Young CIVIS Media Prize went to the author Katrine Philp for her documentary "Book of Miri. Katrine Philp accompanies Miri, who lives alone and is searching for herself. Born in Korea, she is adopted by her Swedish parents at the age of three.
The Berlin journalist Simone Rafael was awarded the new CIVIS Online Prize in mid-April for her website Netz-gegen-nazis.de.

Swiss Photo Award 2009 goes to Jacek Pulawski

Jacek Pulawski received the 2009 Swiss Photo Award on Friday in Zurich. This marks the first time the award has gone to Ticino.

Pulawski receives prize money of 15,000 Swiss francs for his work "Un weekend con un transessuale di Chiasso". According to a press release on Friday, Pulawski's classic black-and-white work was convincing in terms of photography as well as the photographer's personal commitment and honest interest in the situation of prostitutes in Ticino.
The prize in the "Editorial Photography" category went to Peter Bohler, Los Angeles, for his images from a US training camp. In the "Free" category, the jury awarded Denis Jutzeler, Petit-Lancy, a prize for his work "Jardin idéal". His picturesque images of forests are more like images of the soul than images of the visible. The "Advertising Photography" category prize went to Jonathan Heyer, Zurich, who quotes American myths and fantasies of omnipotence with an ironic undertone in his work "America in crisis". The jury awarded the photo prize in the "Fine Arts" category to Gabi Vogt's "Galerie des ancêtres" (Zurich). According to the jury, her portraits depict people in an unusual, irritating way. All the works can be seen from May 8 to 16 at the EWZ Selnau substation in Zurich.
A total of 18 works were nominated for the prizes:: Reto Albertalli, Morbio Inferiore; Peter Bohler, Los Angeles; Annette Boutellier, Bern; Patrik Fuchs, Zurich; Denis Jutzeler, Petit-Lancy;
Jonathan Heyer, Zurich; Irina Polin, Bern; Jacek Pulawski, Chiasso; Peter Püntener, Zurich;

Best Yet 2010: English team wins creative competition

Julia Earthrowl from Grey and Gavin Johnson from BMB are the best young creatives in Europe. They won over the seven-member international jury with their ad subject "We don't make great lunch. Just perfect beer". The two winners will be able to travel to the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival in June and will receive a certificate for their placement in Best Yet. The jury still has to discuss where Best Yet 2011 will take place - last year the competition was already held in London.

Second and third place went to a team from Belgium and France respectively: Yannick Pringels and Antoine de Bellefroid from the College of Advertising and Design Brussels, and Emmanuel Guillon and Alban Gallée from TBWA Paris. One of the two Swiss teams received a good number of votes in the judging and was shortlisted. Unfortunately, the votes were not enough to place them on the shortlist. A total of 18 teams from nine countries pitched in the 2010 Best Yet competition.
The task that the young creative talents were set yesterday in Leuven, Belgium, was no mean feat: within 24 hours, they had to develop a newspaper campaign that would whet the appetite for Stella Artois lager - and at the same time position the beer as a premium lifestyle drink. Away from the working-class beer, towards the party guarantor of the upper class. It remains to be seen whether the host brewery In Bev, which brews Stella Artois, will actually use the winning campaign for its marketing.

Even though it was unfortunately not enough for the Swiss to win, the Swiss Best Yetters really enjoyed the competition in Leuven near Brussels and meeting Stella Artois. For Switzerland there were:
- Manuel Rohrer, Contexta, and Samuel Huber, student, as Team 1.
- Filip WolfensbergerMaxomedia, and Dominic Zach as Team 2.
- Andreas Prokesch, owner of Andreas Prokesch Concepts & Texts and President of the ADC, as a juror and team coach.
- Toni VetterliSwiss Press Association, as a delegate.
- Marco HendriksPublicitas, as organizer and representative of the sponsor.
- Anne-Friederike Wilhelm, Advertising Week, as a journalist.

Note: In the print edition of Werbewoche 9/2010, which will be published on May 20, you will find a look behind the scenes of Best Yet 2010 in Leuven, full of pictures and beer foam. Don't miss it!

Last but not least: The women storm the net

Women in Europe love the Internet—especially when it comes to topics like fashion, beauty, and health. This is shown by the new study «Women and the Internet in Europe» by the women’s portal Go Feminin.

According to Welt online, 54 percent of Europeans surveyed say that they use the internet to find out about fashion and beauty. Only 27 percent use print media for this. When it comes to health, the difference is even clearer: two thirds of women say that they look for information on health topics on the Internet - one in five uses print products and one in ten television. But anyone who thinks that the women are just looking for information on the portals is mistaken: they serve a deeper purpose - according to the study, women improve their personal development and female self-confidence by surfing the web. Incidentally, there are now 76.6 million European women who surf regularly. That's 76.6 million women who regularly boost their self-confidence online. Men, beware: the rosy times are clearly over, now the women are taking over.

Deutsche Telekom: Customer service via Twitter

Deutsche Telekom has been offering customer service via the short message service Twitter on a trial basis since Wednesday.

Users can use Twitter.com/telekom_helps reach the company. After six months, the provider will decide whether to continue using it, according to the Financial Times Deutschland online portal. "The Telekom service team helps here in the firm conviction that service is possible with 140 characters," it says on the site. If this amount of text is not enough, the customer service staff will write additional e-mails. Users should also send sensitive information in the traditional way.
This makes the telephone giant from Bonn one of the first major companies in Germany to communicate with its customers via the popular Internet service. Internet provider 1&1 has been responding to customer inquiries via the Twitter service since November. In the USA, computer manufacturer Dell is one of the pioneers.
