With a total circulation of 208,338 copies and a readership of over 260,000, Kulturpool is aimed, among others, at cultural providers that organize events with nationwide appeal - museums, exhibitions, festivals, concerts or theater performances. Schaffhausen government criticizes Tele Top

The government of the canton of Schaffhausen is demanding that Tele Top comply with the licensing requirements immediately. The fact that the Federal Office of Communications (Bakom) has given the private broadcaster until mid-August to do so is met with incomprehension in Schaffhausen.

In a statement on Tuesday, the government expressed its satisfaction that both Bakom and the broadcaster itself acknowledged the incomplete compliance with the licensing provisions for the Schaffhausen program window. However, the situation remains unsatisfactory. Once the underlying technical problem had been resolved on June 10, compliance with the provisions could be expected immediately. After all, the station is supported by license fees. A letter had therefore been sent to Bakom again.
As Bakom spokesperson Roberto Rivola told the SDA news agency on request, the dispute is about the fact that not all Schaffhausen municipalities are yet supplied via cable. A solution is being sought and Bakom has conducted negotiations with both sides. No one from the Schaffhausen government was available for comment on Tuesday afternoon. Tele Top is confident that a technical solution can be found, according to Managing Director Günter Heuberger. So far, however, there has been no certainty from the cable network operator. Tele Top is equipped for the program window in terms of personnel and editorial staff.

Presserat: Kurer rejects complaint against Blick

The Press Council has dismissed a complaint filed by former UBS Chairman Peter Kurer against the Blick. Kurer objected to the headline, «UBS’s Kurer Lied,» and to the use of the term «false statement» in the article.

It was about the secretly prepared rescue of UBS by the federal government and the Swiss National Bank as well as Kurer's statements at the UBS General Meeting on 2 October 2008, when he said that UBS was one of the best-capitalized banks. In an article published on November 6, 2009, Blick reproduced the Federal Council's response to a question from Aargau FDP National Councillor Philipp Müller - under the title: "Federal Council: UBS-Kurer cheated". The text read, among other things: "Now the government indirectly confirms Kurer's false statements at the AGM." In the introduction to the article, Blick wrote "To this day, it is disputed whether Kurer glossed over the situation at the AGM in October 2008. Now Bern says: Yes, but it was 'expedient'."

Kurer complained of reputational damage
In his complaint to the Swiss Press Council, Kurer took issue with the title and the word "false statement" in particular. The newspaper had given the impression that he had lied. This damaged his reputation as a business leader of integrity. Kurer also argued that the newspaper had not listened to him and had not made the requested correction. As the Swiss Press Council stated in its decision published on Tuesday, Blick correctly reproduced the Federal Council's response. The assessments and the title were justifiable. It was not necessary to question Kurer, as the article only reported an official public statement. "Furthermore, the allegations were not new, but had already been published previously," the Press Council states.

Saatchi CEO Kaspar Loeb leaves the agency and the advertising industry

Saatchi & Saatchi is undergoing a leadership change. CEO Kaspar Loeb will be leaving the agency—and the advertising industry—over the course of the summer. Michael Samak, the current CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi in Germany, will be promoted to regional CEO for Germany and Switzerland. Petar Dakovic, previously Senior Account Director in Zurich, will take over as Managing Director of the agency in Zurich.

"I always said that Saatchi & Saatchi would be my last involvement in the advertising industry," comments Kaspar Loeb (pictured), the former CEO of Seiler DDB and Publicis, on his departure. The now 54-year-old former lawyer and journalist worked in the agency industry for around 15 years.
Michael Samak has been with Saatchi & Saatchi for 13 years and was appointed CEO in Germany in 2008. Samak's boss is Simon Francis, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Europe, Middle East and Africa. The new Managing Director of Zurich, Petar Dakovic, has been working for Saatchi & Saatchi in Zurich since March 2009. Dakovic has worked in the advertising industry for more than ten years and in his previous position at Draft FCB and Lowe was responsible for clients such as Nestlé, Coca Cola, Compaq and Sonntagsblick. At Saatchi & Saatchi, his main focus was on Manor and Seat.

Le Monde: Ringier refrains from making an offer

Ringier hat in den vergangenen zehn Tagen das Dossier der zum Verkauf stehenden französischen Tageszeitung Le Monde geprüft. Auf ein konkretes Angebot verzichtet das Schweizer Verlagshaus nun aber.

According to Ringier, the deadline set by Le Monde was too short. This meant that neither discussions nor a well-founded analysis of the strengths and weaknesses profile were possible. The company would have liked to have submitted an offer, the statement continues. However, this was only after a detailed due diligence process.
At the end of the week before last, Ringier's interest in a closer collaboration with Le Monde became known. An interface already exists today: Ringier holds a 47 percent stake in the French-speaking Swiss newspaper Le Temps, while Le Monde holds 2 percent.

Yahoo networks with Facebook

Yahoo is continuing its social offensive and integrating Facebook content via Facebook Connect. This will enable news to be shared with friends via both networks.

Users who link the pages together can follow the Facebook newsfeed on the Yahoo homepage as well as on Yahoo Mail and other Yahoo services. In addition, users who create content on Yahoo pages such as news, sports, Flickr or TV can also share these activities with contacts from Facebook. The "Like" button can also be used directly by users of the finance and sports pages on Yahoo in future.
Yahoo had already announced a cooperation with the microblogging service Twitter at the beginning of the year. Tweets have been integrated into the search function for some time now, at least in the USA. According to industry service Pressetext, extensions to the partnership are set to follow this year.
