Draftfcb/Lowe: Removed the superfluous for Mini

The Zurich advertising agency Draftfcb/Lowe has realized a "mini-painterly" poster campaign for Mini. Over 20 poster sites were transformed into works of art under the motto "Away with all the superfluous, focus on the essentials".

The creative team placed a stencil on the billboards - and then used a sandblaster to reveal the outline of the sporty lifestyle Brit and the lettering "Be Mini". They then removed the up to eight layers of poster underneath by hand. This resulted in unique, completely different posters.

Last but not least: Playboy - very well-behaved for Apple

The U.S. men's magazine *Playboy* is now available for the iPad. The digital version costs the same as the print edition. However, thanks to Apple, there are no nude photos.

The same already applied to the iPhone app launched a few months ago. However, at 0.99 dollars, this was considerably cheaper than the iPad version, for which you have to fork out a whole 4.99 dollars. For this money, the consumer gets most of the content of the print product - just without the nude photos. But you can't expect much more, as a test by the media website Minonline.com shows. Anyone hoping for interactivity and exciting little films will be disappointed. In a nutshell: The iPad version of Playboy seems to be made for users who read the magazine "just for the articles".

Radio stations threatened with legal action over political advertising

Fuchs wrote in a press release on Monday that political advertising is not permitted in radio and TV broadcasts in the run-up to votes. Songs such as the one by Bernese comedian Müslüm ("Erich, warum bisch du nid Ehrlich?") are "clearly" in breach of the provisions of the Radio and Television Act, according to Fuchs. The radio and TV stations could avoid a lawsuit if they gave the supporters of the riding school initiative the same amount of airtime. The initiative, which calls for the Reitschule to be closed and sold to the highest bidder, will be put to the vote in the city of Bern on September 26. The initiative was launched by a right-wing committee chaired by JSVP councillor Erich Hess. Thomas Fuchs is also a member of the initiative committee.

No excitement for local radio stations
Fuchs' threat did not cause a stir at the two Bernese local radio stations Energy and Capital FM. Capital FM editorial manager Bettina Studer told the SDA news agency that her station does not broadcast the songs of the station in question. They did not fit into the concept. However, the CD in question had been mentioned in a program - in which the editors had also allowed the riding school opponents to have their say. "We strive for equal treatment." Nik Eugster, program director of Radio Energy Bern, said the same thing. This radio station does not include the songs in its playlist either. But after "Müslüm" was a guest in the studio, Erich Hess was also allowed to speak on Radio Energy.

Budget: OSW wins St. Jakob-Park

In an agency presentation, the Oswald Siegfried advertising agency OSW was able to win over the St. Jakob-Park Shopping Center in Basel. The client, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary next year, will be equipped with a completely new umbrella image.

The first works will be on display from October, as the advertisers announced on Monday. The St. Jakob-Park Shopping Center consists of over fifty stores, making it one of the largest shopping centers in north-western Switzerland.

Tamedia and FPH: Competition Commission to investigate newspaper swap

The swap of regional newspapers between Tamedia and Freie Presse Holding (FPH) may still come under scrutiny after all: According to the Sonntag newspaper, the losers of the deal want to file a complaint with the Competition Commission (Weko) for illegal territorial agreements. Tamedia is also expected to face a second complaint regarding 20 minutes.

The complaint will be filed in the coming weeks, according to the report. The aim is to force the Competition Commission to review the swap. The plaintiffs refer to Article 5, paragraph 3 of the Cartel Act, according to which effective competition could be eliminated if two competing companies enter into "agreements on the division of markets by territory". This is precisely what this case has been announced: In a press release dated April 15, Tamedia and FPH announced that they had "agreed to swap their regional newspaper holdings in the cantons of Thurgau and Zurich" - with the aim of "creating more advantageous economic prospects for the daily newspapers involved." Both Tamedia and FPH are relaxed when asked: The Weko secretariat examined the transfer prior to completion and confirmed that the transaction was not subject to notification, according to Tamedia. According to FPH, they had been in contact with the ComCo. It has given the green light.

Excessively high advertising prices at 20 minutes - another lawsuit against Tamedia
A second lawsuit against Tamedia is also said to be in preparation. The accusation: After the Recruitment of Le Matin Bleu In the fall of 2009, the free newspaper 20 minutes in French-speaking Switzerland abused its dominant market position. For example, advertising prices had risen disproportionately. At the beginning of 2010, Tamedia raised the gross page price of 20 minutes by 45 percent. The price for an advertising page rose from CHF 12,700 to CHF 18,400.

Last but not least: Friends - I rent them via the Internet

There are many internet portals for finding a new partner. But what if you're not looking for true love, but just a tennis partner or a dinner companion? Then Friendstorent.com is the right address. The platform offers a lifetime of dating for an hourly wage.

The portal was launched around a year ago by the Swiss start-up Friendstorent. There are currently around 2,600 registered members who, for an hourly fee of their own choosing, will take you to the movies, accompany you shopping, take you for a walk or offer other services. (Please note: Friendstorent.com is not an escort service!) The hourly rates are generally between eight and 20 euros and until next spring - the beta phase will run until then - the service is free of charge. According to the press release, the company will later charge a single-digit percentage of the amount earned by the "friend". > To the portal
By the way: If you can't find "the one" or "the right one" on Friendstorent.com, the US counterpart Rentafriend.com has also recently become active in Europe. However, the selection is currently still limited. For the Zurich area, for example, there are only two "friends" available so far.

Ukraine: TV stations strike against censorship

Three television stations in Ukraine suspended their programming for one hour in protest against restrictions on press freedom. On Saturday evening, Channel 5, TVi, and a regional broadcaster took this action to protest the growing political pressure on media professionals.

The broadcasters are threatened with license revocation, as Kiev media reported on Sunday. They accuse the authorities of reintroducing censorship. The USA and the EU have also recently expressed concern about the media policy under the new President Viktor Yanukovych. The pro-Russian Yanukovych had repeatedly declared that he would not touch the freedom of the press. However, his opponents see increasing authoritarian tendencies and political pressure being exerted on the media. The people of Ukraine see the democratic freedoms gained in the course of the pro-Western Orange Revolution of 2004 increasingly under threat. The International Press Institute (IPI) in Vienna called on Yanukovych to protect democratic values. The IPI criticized violent police attacks on journalists in Ukraine. In addition, reporters are being pressured to make statements during interrogations that they will no longer criticize those in power.

Opel with McCann Erickson at the Frauenfeld-Schwinget

In the run-up to the Swiss National Wrestling Festival, McCann Erickson Zurich is running a special ad for Opel Suisse.

In the jargon of the swinging community, the best swingers are the "really bad ones". The agency uses this expression to present the Opel Insignia 4×4 CDTI and its features. The ad appears in publications accompanying the wrestling festival.
