Last but not least: Blogger blows the lid off the tabloids

Heidi Klum is vacationing on a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean—and various tabloids are eagerly reporting on it. Antje Tiefenthal highlights how the tabloid press gets itself tangled up in the process in her blog «Klatschkritik.».

Did Heidi chug around on the yacht "Indian Empress", on the "Va Bene" or even on both? And what about the photos showing Heidi with her husband Seal on the beach at Porto Venere? Wait, or was it Portofino after all? If you want to know exactly, it's best not to read about it in Bunte and co. After all, it's not just the travel costs and size of the crew on board that the magazines have differing opinions on. Blogger Antje Tiefenthal has taken a close look at the individual reports and reveals the issues. Click here for the Entry.

Exxtra communication: Freshly mixed advertising for Bacardi

Exxtra-Kommunikation has developed a campaign to mark the launch of Bacardi Mojito. The campaign is designed to show that the drink tastes just like it was freshly mixed.

The product benefit was transferred 1:1 to the advertising. Whether poster, advertisement, web, sales brochure or bar display: the respective advertising medium itself (or its editorial content) was mixed. The ads could be seen in Blick am Abend, Friday, Film Demnächst and 20 Minutes, the overpage banner (implementation: Futurecom) on 20min.ch and Ausgang.ch. The teaser posters apparently caused particular confusion: according to the advertisers, the poster company received many calls wanting to draw their attention to the "incorrectly" pasted posters.

Freicom dances out of line for the Theater St. Gallen

Freicom was once again commissioned this year to handle the St. Gallen Theater’s subscription campaign. The goal of the campaign is to increase the number of subscribers by highlighting the selling points of appeal, flexibility, and affordability.

What at first glance looks like an advertisement for Viagra turns out to be a subscription campaign. Freicom also created the two additional subjects "Fridge" and "Hairdo" to go with the basic idea "Get out of the daily grind". These show how subscription holders can escape the daily grind at least once a week. The first wave of the campaign hit Eastern Switzerland in early summer, with the second to follow in the fall. The St. Gallen Theater's subscription offer is being advertised in parallel with advertisements, posters and on the Internet.

U.S.: Murdoch Plans Daily Newspaper for the iPad and Other Devices.

News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch is planning a national digital daily newspaper for the U.S. The subscription-based service is aimed at users of tablet computers such as Apple's iPad. With short, snappy articles, Murdoch hopes to attract a younger audience in particular to paid content.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, the new service could launch as early as the end of the year. The newsroom will be overseen by Jesse Angelo, editor-in-chief of the New York Post—which is also part of News Corp—and will draw on that paper’s editorial staff. Content will also come from the Dow Jones news service. In addition, several dozen reporters and editors could work for the new publication. Unlike the company’s own Wall Street Journal, whose content is available online for a fee, the new offering is intended to appeal to a broader readership. With this digital daily newspaper, Murdoch is competing with other national publications such as the New York Times and USA Today.

Pinax: Making the Schwinger collection known for Isa Bodywear

For the 2010 Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Frauenfeld, Isa Bodywear released a limited-edition wrestling collection. The entire collection is inspired by the classic edelweiss shirt and the Appenzell alpine costume. Pinax is responsible for the accompanying campaign.

The advertisers have sent two unequal opponents onto the sawdust. True to the festival's motto "Everyone's a king", the message is: "There's a wrestler in everyone". And so the blond youngster in the manufacturer's underwear succeeds in driving the bulky wrestler to despair. Pinax designed the packaging, POS material, advertisements and PR kit.
