Advertising agency: Clean campaign for ERZ

The advertising agency created a campaign for ERZ Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich designed to encourage festivalgoers to dispose of their trash in the numerous bins provided.

In Zurich, up to 600 festivals and events take place on public land every year. Where people like to linger, there is also food and drink. What's left behind is often a waste chaos that doesn't have to be, according to a press release. And if it does, then there is ERZ Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich. It takes care of cleanliness in the city of Zurich and thus ensures a high quality of life in Switzerland's largest city. With a campaign, ERZ Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich now wants to sensitize festival visitors in the city of Zurich to already take care of themselves and, if possible, throw the waste into the numerous containers.
The focus of the new campaign by Werbeanstalt Schweiz is on the waste containers themselves. Alienated, however, with wide-open mouths of wild animals that have a huge appetite and show it. The request is clear: Please feed! The campaign is timed to coincide with major events such as the Street Parade, Knabenschiessen and so on, and can be seen on streetcars and posters throughout Zurich.

Mobile devices: Increasing importance as an advertising medium

The importance of mobile devices as advertising platforms is growing rapidly. This is according to the survey «Trends in Percentages—The Success Potential of Mobile Apps» conducted by the German Federal Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW).

According to the survey, 95 percent of respondents generally expect mobile devices to become more relevant for the advertising industry in the next two years. 90 percent see this development specifically in the currently booming tablet PCs. "Mobile apps can be used to offer customers more targeted advertising," Karim Taga, Managing Director of Arthur D. Little Austria, told Pressetext. On television, for example, consumers do not search for information and forget the advertising the next day at the latest. "With mobile applications, users are interested in the apps and, in this sense, also in the advertising," emphasizes the expert.
Free offers as a promising refinancing model
Free offers with advertising financing are considered the most promising refinancing model for mobile apps and their content - more than two thirds of the participants in the study believe this to be the case. In contrast, respondents believe that the chances of refinancing via a subscription model are significantly lower: 40 percent in the tablet PC segment and only 20 percent for smartphones. "The chance of refinancing free apps is easier because people are more likely to access free offers than applications for a fee," Taga explains in an interview with Pressetext.
According to the results of the BVDW survey, the demand for mobile apps from customers and companies will increase significantly over the next two years. A total of 93% of survey participants believe this will be the case for smartphones. For tablet PCs, the figure is 86 percent. The most promising content for tablet PCs is seen by 79% as apps with a news and information focus and 77% as apps with a games and entertainment focus. These are followed by TV and movie apps.

Glarus free newspapers with a new publication day and a new look

On September 1, 2010, the three Glarus weekly newspapers—the Glarus Nord Anzeiger, the Glarus Anzeiger, and the Glarus Süd Anzeiger—will be published with a new design. At the same time, the publication day will be moved up from Friday to Wednesday.

Südostschweiz Medien as publisher is responding to the needs of readers and advertisers with the new publication day, according to a press release issued on Thursday. More topicality in the editorial section for readers and more lead time for advertisers for events at the weekend are the main reasons for the new publication day. At the same time, the three free newspapers are adapting to the appearance of their sister newspaper Bündner Woche with a modern and new three-column layout.
The three Glarus weekly newspapers were launched in 2008 in connection with the Glarus municipal merger from 27 to three municipalities and are distributed every week with a circulation of 18,000 copies to households in the canton of Glarus and the municipality of Weesen.
A three-person editorial team and freelance journalists are responsible for the editorial section of the weekly newspaper. The three community newspapers are actively involved in the ongoing community reform process in the canton of Glarus and focus primarily on local events. This makes them an attractive platform for information from authorities, associations and businesses. In addition, regular portraits, surveys, columns and advice, service and entertainment pages are published. The three free newspapers offer advertisers attractive advertising opportunities thanks to favorable advertising rates, and the three community newspapers are united under the Glarner Woche umbrella brand to form a cantonal advertising combination. Further combinations are offered with Südostschweiz or Obersee Nachrichten. Südostschweiz Publicitas in Glarus is responsible for advertising sales.

SFLB for the youth session: Being a politician is great

The SFLB agency has developed a campaign for the Federal Youth Session designed to encourage young people to take the first step toward a career in politics.

According to a press release from the agency, the campaign shows in a pointed and humorous way how appealing being a politician can be. In addition to the fact that, as a politician, you can shape the future of the country yourself, there are many other convincing advantages that speak in favor of political involvement. For example, you are greeted personally everywhere you go, you will probably get your own Wikipedia entry one day or you can watch the World Cup from the VIP stands. In short: being a politician is great.
In addition to advertisements and posters, the youth session is increasingly advertised on the Internet: with banners, a dedicated Facebook group and a specially created homepage including a competition. On Being-a-politician.ch young people can not only play through their own potential political career, but with a bit of luck they can even win a day at the side of a politician and experience life in politics at first hand.
Responsible for the youth session: Geo Taglioni (project manager). Responsible at Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett: Christian Stüdi (text), Moritz Stillhard (AD), Peter Brönnimann (CD), Fiona Gottwald, Andy Stäheli (consulting).

Last but not least: When the dog eats the bee

The marketing department of an American pet insurance company has launched a somewhat different award—the award for the most unusual vet bill.

Labrador dog Ellie won gold. She had eaten an entire beehive, including pesticides and thousands of dead bees. She beat a border collie that ran through a closed window to catch the postman and a terrier that had bitten into a chainsaw.
Incidentally, all the winning animals had fully recovered after a visit to the vet. Let's hope that the pet owners taking part in the competition were able to curb their ambition and didn't give their pets any silly ideas in the hope of winning gold ...
