Advico Young&Rubicam electrifies the calves for sports fun Wider

The latest generation of electric bikes is available at Sportplausch Wider, as posters around Wallisellen now show. The agency approached the subjects with the meticulousness of a Dr. Frankestein.

A human calf contains electronic cables instead of muscle cords. A bizarre visual with a clear message: instead of always pedaling yourself, you can also let the electricity pedal on an electric bike from Sportplausch Wider.

New Internet portal on Swiss politics

A new journalistic portal goes online this week. The project is backed by Zurich SVP cantonal councillor Claudio Zanetti and former radio journalist Christoph Romer.

The editorial office is based in Ebmatingen, Zurich, and currently employs three editors. The platform's journalistic credo is to provide well-founded political information on an independent, non-partisan and pointed basis, as Zanetti and Romer announced on Tuesday. The portal aims to provide information on political and social issues that are relevant to Switzerland. The portal is a product of Politik.ch Medien by Claudio Zanetti and Christoph Romer, which has also been producing the TV talk show CC Talk on Star TV since the beginning of the year.
Video contributions, articles and commentaries are published. Guest commentaries from experts and politicians of all political persuasions are also regularly posted. The portal includes its own blog and also relies on extensive commentary functions, from which new journalistic stories can be generated. It also offers a general news ticker and up-to-date weather information.
According to the press release, the platform is financed by advertising. A photo database is also being set up to offer other media visual material on Swiss politics.

Last but not least: Mac Donald's fries on the street

Mac Donalds has once again adapted its fries to the pedestrian strip. This time, the oversized packet of fries can be seen in Zurich city center right next to the fast food restaurant.

For this chameleon advertisement, in which a packet of fries was painted on the street in the shape of the pedestrian strip, Mac Donalds was able to snatch the pedestrian zone directly opposite the entrance door. The fast food outlet has thus found a way to stand out from the many sandwich and pasta vendors at Zürifäscht after all.

Interio in a changing style

Cosmic Zürich hat für ihren langjährigen Kunden Interio einen Katalog im neuen Format gestaltet.

The Interio catalog has a new format. Once again, news and classics from the Cosmic Zurich agency are staged in this catalog. The 108-page publication was visualized by three different teams of photographers at four different locations and in the photo studio, as Tobias Jaggi, the man in charge at Cosmic Zürich, explains. CD Richard Rau and AD Marc Hahn were part of the creative team.
"Welcome home!" is the motto this year, after the claim of previous work was "Living with delight". Cosmic Zürich has now produced 26 catalogs for its client Interio. There were numerous accompanying measures, from POS to megaposters. In each case, it was communicated how Interio always wants to meet the diverse needs of its customers and is therefore constantly evolving. The range is modern, versatile and practical. Despite the new format, it will soon be different again. After so many years at Cosmic, the next catalog is coming from Neue Lgk. Interio organized a pitch in May for a comprehensive strategic repositioning. pan

Draftfcb/Lowe redesigns Selbsthilfecenter.ch

With over two hundred self-help groups, Selbsthilfecenter.ch in Zurich offers a wide range of professional support to help people help themselves. The growing demand prompted the «Pro Offene Türen der Schweiz» foundation to collaborate with the Zurich-based advertising agency DraftFCB/Lowe to carry out a comprehensive redesign.

Based on a strategic repositioning, a completely new overall image was developed. Instead of the previous name "Selbsthilfezentrum der Stiftung Pro Offene Türen der Schweiz", the foundation now operates under the name Selbsthilfecenter.ch. A logo was developed to match this, with five elements arranged in a star shape to symbolize the coming together of people seeking advice. The new Selbsthilfecenter.ch website and the first annual report with the new look are currently being developed. An advertising campaign is also planned for fall 2010.
Responsible at Selbsthilfecenter.ch: Jerry Dreifuss (Board of Trustees), Désirée Kellner (Deputy Director). Responsible at DraftFCB/Lowe: Daniel Comte (Creative Direction), Céline Dillier (Art Direction), Roy Spring (Text), Sarah Dovlo (Strategic Planner), Futureconnection (Website).

News.ch: Relaunch for the 10th anniversary

News.ch was founded ten years ago as an independent and national daily newspaper with a classic editorial principle in the online sector that is not based on a print medium. From Wednesday, the online medium will appear with a new look. More emphasis will be placed on social media as well as opinion and commentary pieces.

According to editor-in-chief Kevin Lancashire, the decision was made to adapt the layout to the technical possibilities and to place much more emphasis on the possibilities of social media such as Facebook and Twitter during the relaunch. In future, for example, it will be possible to share articles with friends at the click of a mouse and subscribe to Twitter feeds. The new layout is also intended to provide quick orientation on the front page.
News.ch is also changing in terms of content. In addition to the basic provision of current news, more emphasis is also being placed on opinion and commentary pieces. In addition to the columnists Regula Stämpfli and Patrik Etschmayer, a number of young politicians now have their say every week in the political spectrum, where they shed light on a weekly topic from different political perspectives. Other content includes the ETH Zurich climate blog. In addition, more interviews are being conducted with specialists in order to publish background information. Switzerland is increasingly suffering from an opinion monoculture. Expert contributions, specialist blogs and background information are important means of differentiating oneself from other online news providers, according to deputy editor-in-chief and News.ch columnist Patrik Etschmayer.

SRG Programming Commission: Summer series of regional journals evaluated

This year, the six regional journals of Swiss Radio SR DRS 1 produced a joint summer series. Under the title "Next Exit: Regional Journal," the focus was on the Swiss national road network. From July 19 to August 6, four-man regional teams went to each location every day and produced a live broadcast of around 15 minutes for the evening edition, which was broadcast by all regional journals at 5:40 pm. In the preceding ten minutes of broadcasting, the regional news was distributed in each region.
Overall, the program commission came to a positive assessment. The programs were informative and entertaining at the same time; the choice of topics was varied, creative and sometimes surprising. The juxtaposition of regional news at the beginning of the evening regional journal and information in the live broadcast from somewhere in Switzerland was skillfully combined into a whole with the moderated transitions. The majority of the Regi teams received good marks for their journalistic craftsmanship. However, the chosen form of the live interviews sometimes seemed a bit unattractive and the original radiophonic sounds were often missing. In addition, background and depth fell somewhat by the wayside and live interviews occasionally drifted into triviality.
