Exxtra: Photo portfolio created for the limited-edition Audi R8 GT

The Audi R8 GT will be launched in early 2011. What makes it special, aside from its 560 PS, is that it’s a strictly limited edition. Exxtra Kommunikation has now produced a photo brochure designed to spark interest among existing R8 customers.

The result is a six-page folder with photo prints showing the Audi R8 GT from its most exciting side. The aim is to draw attention to the new model and generate pre-orders. There are just 333 vehicles of this type worldwide. Only 15 will be available in Switzerland. A special selection process will decide who gets to buy one of these cars.

Person in charge at Amag, Schinznach Bad: Erich Hunold (Head of Marketing Audi), Barbara Wernli (Advertising Coordinator Audi). Publigroupe with profit - decline in sales at Media Sales

After two years of losses, Publigroupe returned to profitability in the first half of 2010: The Lausanne-based company posted a net profit of 27.1 million francs, following a loss of 8.5 million francs a year earlier. However, the advertising agency saw a decline in revenue in its most important division, Media Sales.

Operating profit (EBIT) amounted to CHF 12.4 million, compared with an operating loss of CHF 3.5 million in the first half of 2009. The company continued its cost-cutting efforts and reduced costs by CHF 27 million between January and the end of June. Within the space of a year, Publigroupe has cut over 400 jobs.
However, the improved results are also attributable to the sale of the shareholdings in the publishing houses Basler Zeitung Medien and Edipresse at the beginning of 2010. But even without the one-off income totaling CHF 24.9 million, Publigroupe was still in the black. Turnover fell by 10.6 percent to CHF 714.1 million. On the stock exchange, the Publigroupe share price rose significantly by 2.4 percent immediately after the start of trading.

Media Sales with decline in sales
In the most important division, Media Sales, which includes the traditional advertising business with newspapers (Publicitas), sales fell by 10.8 percent to CHF 585.4 million. Publigroupe lost three important newspaper customers at the beginning of 2009, and Edipresse in particular is now marketing its media in-house. The operating loss of Media Sales fell from CHF 14.4 million to CHF 3.1 million. Publigroupe intends to achieve a "sustainable" turnaround at Media Sales in the next financial year, as stated in Monday's press release.
Of the three other segments, "Custom Publishing" (corporate publications) also posted an operating loss. Only the "Search & Find" division, in which Publigroupe works together with the telecoms group Swisscom (Swisscom Directories), was able to grow. Publigroupe wants to focus more strongly on online services. In the first half of the year, the company increased its turnover from online activities by almost 40 percent to CHF 313.8 million, mainly thanks to acquisitions, according to the press release. Publigroupe's forecast is confident: it is expecting an operating profit for 2010 as a whole.

Last but not least: What really happens behind monastery walls

Most people only know what goes on behind monastery walls from movies like *The Name of the Rose* or TV series such as *For Heaven’s Sake*. A Capuchin friar now wants to change that and, through a weekly talk show, show what life in a monastery is really like.

From September, the format entitled "Lebensweisen" will be offered to public and private television stations. If all goes well, the production will be shown from Advent. The format was launched by Brother Paulus Terwitte. Together with others, he founded a production company at the end of June.
However, the TV format is not the end of the story; Terwitte sees a need for further action: according to Terwitte, more than 200 of the 460 or so religious communities in Germany do not yet have their own website. That cannot and must not be the case! After all, an online presence is the be-all and end-all of any organization - sorry, monastery.

All new at the Bernerbär

The free newspaper Bernerbär, which belongs to Espace Media, will be published once a week with a new design from Tuesday, August 31, 2010. The distribution and editorial concept was also changed for the relaunch.

From now on, 100,000 copies of the Bernerbär will be distributed directly to letterboxes in the city and agglomeration of Bern every Tuesday. In addition, the newspaper is now also available in around 200 restaurants and bars in the city. As before, the newspaper focuses on events in and around Bern. Key features such as the People page and the "Whispering Bag" will be supplemented with new offers. In future, the editorial team under the management of Matthias Mast will place more emphasis on event previews in particular - in line with the motto "The Bernerbär knows where things are going to happen." There are also changes to the editorial team: Jean-Claude Galli, who previously worked for Sonntagsblick and Blick am Abend, is returning to Bernerbär.
The central design element of the new layout, which was developed by Zurich designer Jiri Chmelik, is a red dot that accompanies readers through the paper. Chmelik, co-founder of Hilda Design Matters, gave the people and event newspaper its face ten years ago.

Zurich: Global brand campaign further developed

On Monday, Zurich Financial Services launched its new «Insights» campaign, an evolution of the global «Zurich Help Point» campaign that began in 2008. The campaign builds on the brand promise to be there for customers when it matters most.

It describes positive experiences that customers can enjoy because they know they can count on their insurance cover: Such moments can include a pensioner riding a kiteboard, or a husband driving the family car to take his heavily pregnant wife to hospital. In addition to private customers, the campaign is also aimed at corporate customers. It shows events where Zurich was on the scene to help.
