Last but not least: Get off Facebook and into life

As we all know, social media is all the rage. People chat, post, send invitations, follow, recommend, comment—and fill their friends’ walls with posts.

The Italian car manufacturer Fiat wants to remind us in a commercial that there is a real life beyond Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and the like. The virtual pinboard becomes a wall, which is posted on in a slightly different way to Facebook...

"Gesundheit Sprechstunde": Buyable TV appearances?

According to *Beobachter*, the «Gesundheit Sprechstunde» program is said to offer pharmaceutical companies the opportunity to feature experts on the show—for a five-figure sum.

According to observers, the medical director of the Ringier program suggested to a PR agency that the manufacturer of a drug should contribute 10,000 to 20,000 francs to the production costs. Such requests are made time and again. In return, according to the agency, the pharmaceutical company would be allowed to place an expert of its choice on the program and thus influence its content. According to an e-mail obtained by the Observer, the manufacturer's prescription drug is also to be mentioned in the program. However, this is prohibited under the Therapeutic Products Act.
Ringier does not dispute the e-mail inquiry, but emphasizes that the editorial team selects the experts and that no medication is mentioned by name. The supervisory authority Bakom had already reprimanded the "Gesundheit Sprechstunde" program five years ago for surreptitious advertising and inadmissible advertising of therapeutic products.

Media messenger is discontinued

The Medienbote is saying goodbye: Six years after its first issue, the industry newsletter will cease publication on August 31, 2010. Last week's Issue 959 was the final issue.

"It has given me great pleasure to successfully build up a new specialist publication on electronic media and new markets with Medienboten and to lead it into the black as a renowned industry service," editor-in-chief and publisher Jörn Krieger was quoted as saying in a press release on Wednesday. After six years and almost 1,000 issues, the time has come for him to break new ground. He will return to working as a freelance journalist for the media trade press in Germany and abroad.
The Medienbote brand could be resurrected one day. "Despite various offers, I decided against selling Medienbote in order to keep the concept, brand and website open for new ideas in the future," says Krieger.
For the remaining term of their subscription, subscribers to Medienbote will receive the industry magazine Kress Report by post, which will keep them up to date with all the latest news from the media industry on a fortnightly basis. The more than 21,300 articles that have appeared in Medienbote can now be downloaded free of charge in full on the website Medienbote.de can be retrieved.

Euro RSCG/Scholz & Friends Zurich: Campaign realized for Credit Suisse

«Preparation is everything. Even when it comes to investing.» That's what Ottmar Hitzfeld says in a Credit Suisse TV commercial that will air throughout Switzerland starting this week.

The fact that the Swiss national team coach serves as a testimonial for the bank's current "Saving and Investing" campaign is no coincidence, according to a statement. There are several analogies between investment and soccer strategies. And Hitzfeld as a person also fits in with Credit Suisse's investment advisory services: good preparation, personal support and teamwork are characteristics of both.
In addition to Hitzfeld, other professionals such as a photographer or a chef can be seen on posters in the branches of the major bank. What they all have in common is that they pursue their professions or hobbies with great passion. They are experts in their field, but when it comes to investing money, they like to rely on the advice of another expert, namely their personal advisor at Credit Suisse.
In addition to TV (Euro RSCG, production Telemaz Hamburg), print (Euro RSCG) and POS, the online channel will also be considered (both Scholz & Friends). Until the end of October, there are prizes worth a total of 50,000 Swiss francs to be won on the campaign's landing page.
