Hesskisssulzersutter has a nose for the Inselspital

For the first time, Zurich-based advertisers have lent their support to Bern’s Inselspital—by creating a poster promoting a medical lecture.

The topic of the lecture is olfaction and gustation. Because these two senses are so important, ENT specialist Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Hummel brings "smelling and tasting" closer to a wider audience in a public lecture.
In the run-up to the lecture, the Bernese people's sense of sight is stimulated by posters featuring the unusual image of a tongue that for once is not flicking out of a mouth but out of a nostril.

Radio 24 presents mapping study for IGEM

During a presentation for interested IGEM members at Radio 24’s studio, music director Andreas Meier highlighted the efforts the station makes to determine what kind of music its target audience loves. To this end, three different market research tools are used.

The mapping study, which is carried out every two years, looks at what people love about radio programs. It is hardly surprising that music is at the top of the list. An important part of the study therefore also looks at general music styles.
On this basis, 200 people are then played different pieces of music from the years 1975 to 2006 every year. New pieces of music are determined every three weeks by a random quaota survey. It is therefore known that there are currently around 800 pieces of music that a majority of Radio 24's target audience likes to listen to, according to an IGEM press release. These 800 pieces are then also part of the station's repertoire.
In addition, the structure of the program is crucial. The listener can enter at any second. The program is meticulously structured in order to keep them for as long as possible. For example, upcoming contributions are teased at precisely defined intervals. And when it comes to music, strict attention is paid to alternating between oldies and new tracks. The program schedule is 100 percent predetermined and pre-programmed. The presenter's main task is to keep the customers entertained. The times in which the music played corresponded to the presenter's taste are definitely over on modern radio, at least during the day.

Business video platform for Switzerland

After a long planning and implementation phase, the new Bizztube.ch website was launched. Already, 60 companies from all over Switzerland have registered their corporate videos on the business platform.

After extensive test runs, one in four companies has already opted for Bizztube.ch to use the platform's features to acquire new customers. According to Patrick Altendorfer, Managing Director of Bizztube.ch, the often very representative corporate films are difficult to find. In addition, many of the companies do not know where exactly and how efficiently their film is published.

New Smart Ads service from Publicitas Publimedia

Publicitas Publimedia is offering a new service called Smart Ads, for which BMB has created an ad. The new Smart Ads give advertisers the opportunity to make their ad campaigns interactive.

Using the mobile image recognition application Paperboy from Kooaba, additional information and other options can be provided behind each ad and sent directly to the prospective customer's smartphone. Anyone who takes a photo of a smart ad immediately receives information about the advertised product or service.
It is precisely this return that is dramatized in an ad promoting Smart Ads. The prospective customer takes a photo of the tennis player, whereupon the immediate return lands on his smartphone: a tennis ball that even seems to shatter the screen with its force. In addition, the most relevant information about the Smart Ads product and a response option to receive the complete return from Publicitas Publimedia.
The ad for Smart Ads can now be seen in Swiss advertising journals.

New customers rely on Koch Kommunikation

The Thurgau Association for Health and Social Services Professions (IGBS-TG) has commissioned Koch Kommunikation to handle its trade show presence at WEGA. Lady Lederwarenfabrik, a company based in Frauenfeld, is also a new client of the agency.

The Frauenfeld company Lady Lederwarenfabrik launched its first own bag and accessory lines with "0714". The name "0714" says it all: different. And more than "0815". This should also be reflected in the marketing of the bags, wallets, belts and pouches for men and women. Koch Kommunikation therefore created a brand design that expresses the unmistakable identity of the products.

The look runs from the product label to the paper carrier bags to the wallet boxes. This also included an "0714-appropriate" marketing strategy with advertising on public transport buses and on facades, traditional cards, posters and a practical product overview.
Another new customer of the agency is the Interest Group for Professions in Healthcare and Social Services Thurgau IGBS-TG. "Future care Nursing professions have a future" was the motto under which the members of the IBGS-TG presented themselves at the WEGA to give visitors an understanding of the professions in the health and social care sector, in particular the training to become a nursing specialist HF.

Only weak recovery in the graphic arts industry

Despite a return to positive growth since the second quarter, the recovery in the graphic arts industry is proceeding only slowly. As a result, the growth recorded so far appears very modest compared to the record declines of 2009.

Real gross value added in the graphic arts industry rose by 2.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2010. In the second quarter of 2010, value added growth amounted to 3.1 percent. This was announced by the Swiss Association for Visual Communication Viscom and the economic researchers at Bak Basel in a press release. The industry is suffering from the low euro exchange rate, which has massively increased import pressure.
In addition, a one-third increase in labor costs compared to neighboring countries and up to 15 percent higher paper prices in Switzerland reduced the competitiveness of the graphic arts industry. According to the "Viscom - BAK Index", the graphic arts industry is unlikely to see any significant recovery in the coming months in view of the once again gloomy economic outlook.
Positive impetus from the advertising industry
In the second and third quarters, there was clearly positive domestic economic momentum, particularly from the most important client, the advertising industry. However, demand in this sector slumped massively in 2009, as the report goes on to say. Despite the signs of recovery to date, the pre-crisis level is still a long way off.
Overall, the recovery in the graphic arts industry after the record decline in 2009
only progressed slowly. In the first quarter of 2010, value added in the graphic arts industry was still almost 3% below the already very low level of the previous year, while other sectors have already recorded very strong growth rates again.

SF: Head of Finance and Human Resources leaves

The Head of Finance and Human Resources at Swiss Television SF, René Stamm, is leaving the company at the end of November. His departure is related to the upcoming merger of radio and television.

Finance at Swiss Radio and Television SRF is now headed by Guy Luginbühl, while Florian Galliker is responsible for Human Resources. This was announced by SF on Friday. Both were already responsible for this task at SR DRS. According to Durrer, Stamm could have remained with the company. However, he preferred to leave television.
René Stamm took over the Finance department in 2003 and was also a member of the Executive Board in this function. From 2004, he was also responsible for Human Resources. In the course of the upcoming merger of Schweizer Radio DRS and SF, the Finance and Human Resources departments were merged at the beginning of October, as SF spokesman Urs Durrer told SDA in response to an inquiry.

Italy: Justice investigates Berlusconi's newspaper

The Milan daily newspaper "Il Giornale", owned by the family of head of government Silvio Berlusconi, has been targeted by the judiciary. Its editorial offices have been searched by the police.

The public prosecutor's office in Naples has launched an investigation into threats against editor-in-chief Alessandro Sallusti and his deputy Nicola Porro. Their homes have been searched. The two journalists are accused of collecting secret information about the industrialist president Emma Marcegaglia. This was after the latter had criticized the newspaper for its aggressive campaign against Gianfranco Fini.
In several telephone conversations with Marcegaglia's secretary, Rinaldo Arpisella, the two journalists are said to have used an aggressive tone in an attempt to change the head of the company's position. Marcegaglia had also recently made critical comments about the Berlusconi government. The two journalists had threatened to print information that could have damaged her reputation.
Sallusti reacted indignantly to the investigation and, according to SDA, instructed his lawyer to sue the Neapolitan public prosecutor Giandomenico Lepore for defamation of character. Berlusconi's daily newspaper has been waging a fierce campaign against Fini for weeks. His faction accuses "Il Giornale" of collecting and disseminating defamatory information about Fini with the help of the secret services.

Ice tea soon in PET thanks to the Migros community

Migros will soon begin selling its iced tea in PET bottles as well. In doing so, the Swiss retailer is responding to a request from its online community, which had clearly expressed its preference for the iconic Migros iced tea in PET bottles in a survey on the social media platform Migipedia.

On the Migipedia internet platform, Migros customers can give their opinion on an initial 5000 products, ask questions or express wishes. According to a press release issued on Thursday, Migros is keen to listen to its customers and get to know their needs even better. "It is important that we also react after listening, as in this case," explains Urs Peter Naef, FMC media spokesperson.
The PET story started with a comment from user Atos_1981: "Is the ice tea actually available in a PET bottle for on the go?" he asked on the Migipedia Ice Tea page. Many users followed up. In the end, Migros decided to conduct a survey on Migipedia and called on the community to take part via Facebook and Twitter.
The result was clear: over 80 percent were in favor of the new packaging. "A clear statement from the Migros community. The decision to also offer Ice Tea in PET in future was therefore clear. It will be on the shelves before Christmas," says Michael Schmitt, Category Manager Beverages at Migros.
