Glanz & Gloria" presenter receives reprimand

Swiss television is tightening its oversight following the outburst by «Glanz & Gloria» host Annina Frey against police officers.

Annina Frey is under observation, writes the Sonntagszeitung in its current edition. One more misconduct and she could be out of a job at Swiss television. After the 29-year-old was pulled over by the police in her car at the end of October, she wrote about the experience on the official Swiss television blog. The consequence is now a severe reprimand, SF confirmed to the Sonntagszeitung. Any further misconduct would have consequences under employment law. SF has also learned a lesson from the case. The internal control had failed. In future, the moderators' blogs would be proofread by the online daily manager and, with immediate effect, also by the editorial manager.
Frey would be the first presenter to be taken off screen because of a misstep. It shouldn't come to that. She will never again insult other people in a blog, she is quoted as saying in the Sonntagspublikation. In the meantime, she has apologized to the police in writing, and since yesterday she has been publicly asking for forgiveness on the SF blog.

Unauthorized propaganda: Bakom investigates Ulrich Schlüer

Zurich SVP National Councillor Ulrich Schlüer has been on air since the end of August. He presents his talk show "Schweizerzeit-Magazin" on the cable channel Schweiz 5. Now the show is being targeted by OFCOM.

The politician prefers to invite guests from his own political camp to the television studio in Schlieren ZH to discuss suggestively worded topics such as "Do EU opponents have no access to the Federal Council?" or "Criminal foreigners: Deport them at last!". As the Sonntagsblick knows, OFCOM is investigating whether Schlüer's show violates the ban on political advertising on television.
Bakom has reviewed the Schweizerzeit magazine programs broadcast to date and requested documents and contracts from Schweiz 5, Bakom media lawyer Samuel Mumenthaler confirmed to Sonntagsblick. The Federal Office is currently clarifying the financial circumstances surrounding the program. "If these lead to the assumption that there is a possible case of unauthorized advertising, this would have to be clarified in supervisory proceedings," says Mumenthaler.
Schlüer rejects the accusation of political propaganda: he is not interested in advertising, but in shedding light on a topic, he is quoted as saying in the Sonntagspublikation. "If people take offense at my programme, it's tantamount to censorship."

ARD extends "Lindenstrasse" by three years

The German television network ARD will extend its long-running series «Lindenstrasse» once again.

"Our brands simply live longer," said ARD program director Volker Herres in an interview with the industry service Funkkorrespondenz published online on Saturday, according to SDA. 25 years is an almost youthful age for a program brand on ARD: The contract has just been extended for another three years. The series celebrates its 25th birthday in December.
The first German soap opera went on air on ARD First German Television in December 1985. Since then, "Lindenstrasse" has flickered across television screens over 1300 times.

JWT+H+F: New campaign launched for Kurz jewelry and watches

JWT+H+F has been designing the "I am beautiful" campaign for Kurz Schmuck und Uhren since 2005. The new appearance is now intended to continue the successful brand idea and involves the consumer directly.

In the role of the silent observer, he witnesses how real personalities discover their own beauty with style and elegance. The advertising is intended to express the aesthetic aspirations of the traditional store to emphasize the personality of its customers with selected pieces. The choice of models is intended to contribute to the credibility of this realization: real women with an individual fashionable appearance, as the agency describes its subjects, rather than interchangeable catalog beauties, deliberately shine from the billboards.
The new campaign can now be seen in major German-speaking cities in Switzerland on posters, in print media relevant to the target group and on the web.
Responsible at KURZ Jewelry and Watches: Olivier Fabrikant (CEO), Liliane Müller (Head of Marketing). Responsible at JWT+H+F: Remy Fabrikant (overall responsibility), Enrico Bachmann, Grischa Rubinick (creative direction), Grischa Rubinick, Roger Dobmann (art direction), Rainer Bühler (strategy), Vanessa Lehmann-Spalleck (consulting), Juventino Mateo (photography), Virginia Maissen (styling). Information Architects optimize Zeit.de for tablet computers

Following the launch of the Zeit.de website, the Zurich-based agency Information Architects is now also developing the design for the iPad and other tablets.

Websites designed for navigation by hand can only be navigated with bare hands to a limited extent. For example, text links in small font sizes are hardly suitable for touchscreens. The Zurich agency has therefore begun to optimize Zeit Online for iPad and other tablet computers. In view of the changed navigation habits with the finger, the design by Information Architects offers, for example, larger link areas for navigation by hand. Overall, emphasis was placed on limiting the design even more strictly to the essentials
Information Architects is based in Zurich and Tokyo. The agency was founded in 2006 by Oliver Reichenstein and specializes in user experience design. In addition to its work for media such as Zeit.de, Tagesanzeiger.ch, Krone.at and Internazionale.it, Information Architects also produces its own products. Just a few weeks ago
a special writing program for the iPad was introduced.

Fox News boss calls radio executives "left-wing Nazis"

The head of the conservative U.S. news network Fox News called the executives of a radio station «left-wing Nazis.» Now he has had to apologize.

Roger Ailes had railed against the management of the public radio station NPR in an interview that was published on the internet. A political commentator had been fired after making controversial remarks about Muslims. The people in charge of NPR have a bit of a Nazi demeanor, Ailes said. They are left-wing Nazis. These guys can't stand the fact that you can have a different opinion than theirs, Ailes continued. And it doesn't bother them at all that they use contributors' money to spread their propaganda.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an organization fighting anti-Semitism, announced on Thursday that Roger Ailes had apologized for his remarks in a letter to ADL President Abraham Foxman. Ailes wrote that he had improvised and should not have used this word.

Audience Council: Not all children have access to all media

The Audience Council gives the trimedial children's program Zambo good marks. However, Zambo requires permanent access to radio, television, the Internet and, in some cases, cell phones, which is not possible for all children.

The joint children's program Zambo from Swiss Television SF and Radio DRS with the additional platform on the Internet has been well received by the Audience Council. The first fully convergent program is interesting, stimulating and varied. Especially the self-produced elements are convincing, writes the Audience Council in a press release on Friday. The trimedial children's program offers good entertainment, but also conveys a lot of interesting facts.
In the opinion of the Audience Council, much of the content is educationally valuable and therefore stands out from other children's programs. It is also pleasing that the children can determine parts of the program content and act in it themselves. However, some members of the Audience Council were annoyed by the overdrawn characters and plots of "Best Friends". In addition, the Council felt that the target group range from kindergarten to adolescence was too wide. The fact that not all elements are suitable for the entire target group between the ages of 6 and 14 is particularly noticeable on television.
On the other hand, the Council considers the networking between the media to be interesting and forward-looking. The children find the same format on all channels, which corresponds to contemporary media use. However, it is not possible for all children to meet the Zambo requirement of having permanent access to radio, television, the Internet and, in some cases, cell phones.
