At the shot, the television audience can vote for the big winner. Hartmann is quoted in Sonntag as saying that he was attracted by the wide range of the "Alpenrose" program. He has a closeness to these music genres and he has a closeness to the audience that loves this music.

Last but not least: George's relentless fight against high gasoline prices

Gas prices keep going up and up—and there’s no end in sight to this price spiral. Thank goodness for Radio Regenbogen: The German station wants to save drivers from financial ruin and is paying their gas bills.

Like every car driver, it makes him break out in a sweat when he has to watch the price of gas at the filling station continue to rise to dizzying heights, says George Zampounidis, presenter of the station's morning show. "That's why we decided without further ado: Enough is enough, we have to do something about it!" No sooner said than done. To have George pay your fuel bill, you simply have to send in your fuel receipt by fax, e-mail or post, and of course have a bit of luck - every hour, George and his fellow presenters draw receipts from the lottery pot and pass on the names of the drivers who have been fleeced. If the owner of the receipt gets in touch within the next half hour, George pays for the gas. Whether this really does anything to combat the high fuel prices remains highly questionable. But the listeners will certainly be pleased. Nice campaign, Radio Regenbogen - and even if it doesn't make the world a better place, it certainly brings in a few more listeners.

Twitter is worth an estimated $7.7 billion

The microblogging service Twitter is estimated to be worth 7.7 billion dollars. This was revealed during an auction of company shares.

At a valuation in December for putting together a cash injection, Twitter was still worth less than half that. Investors were willing to pay 34.50 dollars per Twitter share at the auction organized by SharesPost, the Internet platform announced, according to SDA. With just under 224 million shares, this gives the company a value of 7.7 billion dollars.

The short message service, which can be used to send 140-character information to interested parties, was founded in 2006. In September last year, Twitter had around 175 million users. Twitter is popular with celebrities and politicians, but is also increasingly used by companies for advertising.

Twitter founder Biz Stone recently said that the company has no plans for an IPO. Twitter wants to remain independent and does not need any fresh capital in the next twelve months. Social network Facebook, which has long been speculated about going public, is valued at more than $50 billion. (SDA)

Less Migros advertising in regional newspapers

Migros is pursuing a new national advertising strategy: it is withdrawing part of its advertising budget from regional newspapers and transferring it to commuter and tabloid newspapers and the Internet. This decision is hitting the regional newspapers hard.

Migros has adapted its advertising strategy to people's behavior, Migros spokeswoman Monika Weibel told news agency SDA on Friday. She thus confirmed a report by the journalistic Internet platform La Méduse. More and more people are reading commuter newspapers, and many now get their information via the Internet, she said, explaining the decision.

In concrete terms, this means that the money previously reserved for the so-called preiskracher ads will now flow to the commuter newspapers 20 Minuten and 20 minutes, to the tabloids Blick and Matin, and to the websites of the daily newspapers. According to Weibel, this realignment will not result in any savings. "The advertising budget remains the same."

"The regional newspapers continue to be important for us," Weibel continued. For example, the Megafrisch ads would continue to be published once a week. And the individual cooperatives are free to continue advertising in "their" regional newspapers.

Migros' new advertising strategy is currently being implemented. It applies to German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland. Italian-speaking Switzerland is not affected. Weibel explains that, according to the latest surveys, the Internet is not yet as widespread in Ticino as in the rest of Switzerland. And in the future, the Orange giant also wants to distribute its advertising messages increasingly via cell phones. The Migros spokeswoman said that they are in the process of developing a corresponding concept.

Migros' new strategy is hitting regional newspapers hard. Louis Ruffieux, editor-in-chief of the Fribourg daily La Liberté, regrets the decision: "Migros is an important advertiser for the regional newspapers. I remember times when four advertising pages were still common." (SDA)

Press Council: Frank A. Meyer should have presented facts correctly

The Federal Commission against Racism filed a complaint regarding a column in the *Sonntagsblick*. Columnist Frank A. Meyer implied that the Commission believed the headscarf to be a religious requirement for all Muslim women. The Press Council upheld the complaint, arguing that, especially in the case of harsh comments, the underlying facts must be accurate.

In a Sonntagsblick column, Frank A. Meyer alleged that the Federal Commission against Racism (FCR) had written in a media release that the headscarf was "a binding religious requirement for women. The EKR complained that Sonntagsblick had quoted it in an abbreviated form. Rather, the commission had pointed out that the headscarf ban was "a binding religious commandment for the women concerned."

The Press Council upholds the complaint. According to the Swiss press watchdog, it was not the abridgement of the quote taken from a report in the NZZ that was problematic, but the distorted reproduction of the commission's position. Sonntagsblick may well sharply criticize the position of the FCR and accuse it of giving disproportionate weight to religious freedom over the individual freedom of women. However, Frank A. Meyer should have correctly presented the facts underlying his harsh criticism. Contrary to the impression given by his column, the FCR in no way claims in its statement that the headscarf is obligatory for all Muslim women.

Denner may sell capsules for Nespresso machines again

Denner is once again allowed to sell its coffee capsules, which are also compatible with Nespresso machines. The St. Gallen Commercial Court announced on Friday that it had partially lifted the super-provisional sales ban issued on January 10.

According to the ruling, Denner may once again offer the cheaper competitor capsules. The statement "Compatible with Nespresso machines" in advertising and on packaging is also permitted again, provided the lettering is small. The advertising slogan "Denner - was suscht?" remains prohibited. On this point, the St. Gallen Commercial Court has confirmed its Order dated January 10 confirmed.

Denner has now stopped "waiting and drinking tea" - this is how Vizner Borel commented on the court ruling in January on behalf of the discounter. The decision from Friday will be communicated in a similar way at the beginning of next week, as Nicole Schöwel, Head of Communications at Denner, told Werbewoche. They are currently working "at full speed" on this - but it will probably not be enough for the Sunday press.

Production of the capsules, which had to be halted due to the super-provisional order, is expected to resume as early as next Monday. Further advertising measures can be expected as soon as sufficient quantities can be offered again.

Press Council: Blick has not violated the ban on discrimination

In the Press Council’s view, the phrase «Kosovar trash» does not violate the prohibition against discrimination. It therefore dismisses a complaint against the Blick. It is clear to readers that the phrase refers to an individual and not to Kosovars in general.

Blick described a man of Kosovar nationality as a "garbage Kosovar". He had stored trash in his garden in protest against the authorities. A reader complained that the newspaper was violating the ban on discrimination with this exaggeration. This would reinforce existing prejudices against the Kosovar nationality. The press council comes in its statement to the opposite conclusion. The view brought only the man from Bürglen, not however the Kosovars altogether with the term ?garbage? in connection. The specific wording "The garbage Kosovar" makes it clear that it is about an individual person and not a general accusation against a group.

Euro RSCG Zurich: Performance designed for Kulturhaus am See

The Kulturhaus am See association wants to transform the Kongresshaus and Tonhalle building complex into a house for people interested in culture. It is receiving communications support from Euro RSCG Zurich. The agency has designed a logo with the help of Google Earth.

With the recent discussions in the Zurich City Council to build a large congress center for Zurich at a new location, plans for the new use of the current Kongresshaus also started. According to a group of creative artists, including Pepe Lienhard, Andreas Vollenweider, Nadja Schildknecht, the Kongresshaus, together with the Tonhalle, should be converted into a large cultural center - and given a new look.

Euro RSCG Zurich was commissioned with the development of this appearance - including the logo. While researching on Google Earth, the creative team of the advertising agency found out that the height of the façade of the congress center corresponds exactly to the width of the road to Lake Zurich. They transferred these real distances, angles and proportions into the new logo.

The variation in the typeface and the perspective arrangement of the words has resulted in a typographic logo that has a spatial effect: the words "Kultur" and "Haus" reflect the building of today's Kongresshaus, the word "am" the street, and the word "See" Lake Zurich, which spreads out in front of the listed building.

Based on this logo, Euro RSCG Zurich has developed letterheads, business cards, brochures and a website using the same geodata from Google Earth. These are in use as of now.

Responsible at the association Kulturhaus am See: Roger Cahn (Business Office). Responsible at Euro RSCG Zurich: Frank Bodin (overall responsibility), Markus Rottmann (CD), Ivan Madeo (concept text), Christina Wellnhofer (art direction), Dominique Magnusson (graphics), Janina Iseli (consulting).
