Last but not least: lots of imagination - but no remorse, please

Medienspiegel.ch has drawn our attention to an advertisement that is very revealing. The company Adastra Medien, which produces themed supplements for Blick and Tagi, among others, is looking for "typists" via Ron Orp. The job profile in brief: Writers who are willing to do anything.

And so the advertisement says: "Can you also convey rather boring topics in a palatable way? Are you not too shy to include 'surreptitious advertising' in your text? Are you a sports/outdoor enthusiast [please also note the spelling here...]? Do you dare to write a travelogue without having made the trip yourself? Are you familiar with Switzerland? Then write us a little test report about hiking in the canton of Bern!" To make matters worse: "PS: Unfortunately, we can't pay the big salaries yet, so newcomers/students rather than seasoned professionals..."

Are you interested? Then apply now: Adastra-media.ch. And for everyone else: If an article on hiking appears in the Blick or Tagi supplement in the next few weeks, read it carefully. Or even better: throw it away.

Comqed Dialog: Moved to switch for Sunrise

Comqed Dialog created a B2C mailing campaign for Sunrise. The campaign is designed to encourage recipients to switch providers.

"Is that true? Are you really still paying too much?" the recipient of the mailing is asked. It is thereby listed in the headline of a newspaper article by name as a victim of too expensive telecommunications contracts. And this newspaper article has been seen by an acquaintance, copied and provided to the recipient with a personal, handwritten remark: "I would switch now...". This is the tenor of the mailing, which consists of an initial mailing with copy/note and info flyer, plus a reminder letter.

Responsible at Sunrise: Daniela Belaid (Manager Direct Communication Residential Customers), Annette Brauer (Senior MarCom Manager Direct Communication), Thomas Cicconi (Director Base Marketing Residential Customers), Attila Ilman (Senior Manager Customer Base Sales). AZ Medien makes a profit again

After three difficult years, AZ Medien AG, the publisher of the Aargauer Zeitung, is back in the black. In fiscal year 2010, the group posted a consolidated net income of 3.2 million Swiss francs. In 2009, it had posted a loss of 14.8 million Swiss francs.

A slight economic recovery from autumn 2010 and in particular the cost-cutting measures from synergy programs, some of which were already initiated in the 2009 financial year, had a positive impact on the 2010 financial year, as the company announced on Tuesday.

The operating income of CHF 234.4 million is at the previous year's level after structural adjustments. However, it is not directly comparable with the previous year due to the self-marketing of advertisements (from the beginning of 2010) and the no longer fully consolidated participation in Radio Argovia, according to the statement. On a comparable basis, operating income from newspaper publishing improved by CHF 6.1 million (+1.5 %), from magazines and books by CHF 0.6 million (+1.7 %) and from radio and TV by CHF 0.5 million (+3.6 %). In contrast, printing and distribution recorded a decline of CHF 3.9 million (-8.4 %).

The headcount amounted to 761 full-time equivalents at the end of the year. This is 77 fewer than in the previous year. The reduction in full-time positions is partly due to the fact that Radio Argovia is no longer fully consolidated. As a company spokeswoman told the SDA news agency, 35 jobs were cut - partly through redundancies, but also through early retirement, reduced workloads and dismissals.

AZ Medien's annual report will be published at the beginning of May. The Annual General Meeting will take place on May 27, 2011.

AZ Medien: Third profit slump in a row in 2009

In addition to AZ Aargauer Zeitung, AZ Medien includes BZ Basellandschaftliche Zeitung, AZ Solothurner Zeitung, Der Sonntag and holdings in Internet portals, Radio Argovia, Radio 32, Tele M1 as well as weekly newspapers and trade journals. The Group is also active in customer printing.

Infosperber.ch wants to cultivate independent journalism

Infosperber.ch, a new information platform, was launched on Tuesday. Behind it is the non-profit "Swiss Foundation for the Promotion of Independent Information" SSUI, which aims to promote independent journalism in Switzerland.

Infosperber.ch is not under pressure from ratings, readership figures or financially strong lobbies, the foundation writes on its website. The platform sets itself the goal of weighting solely according to social or political relevance. The intention is not to compete with the dominant media, but to supplement mainstream media, which are all too PR-heavy and place a high emphasis on entertainment, with relevant information, it continues. There is also room for media criticism.

Independent and committed journalists as well as experts are to be offered a platform for research, overlooked or neglected information and pointed commentary. Members of the editorial team and experts can add editorial content to articles on the website. Infosperger does not pay the authors any fees for their articles. However, as the foundation writes on its website, it is possible to compensate for rights of use and actual expenses.

The contents are freely available to the public. The texts may also be redistributed free of charge, provided the source is acknowledged. The website was financed by the foundation. For running costs and journalistic research, it relies on donations from the readership.

For the time being, the imprint lists nine experts and 31 journalists who regularly or occasionally contribute to the editorial work. Others are welcome, provided they support the platform's journalistic orientation. The editorial board consists of Robert Ruoff, Niklaus Ramseyer, Christian Müller and Urs P. Gasche, President of the Foundation Board. Another member, Rafael E. Perez Süess, is responsible for IT.

JvM/Limmat: Conducted an experiment for Pro Infirmis

Many people with disabilities experience exclusion and discrimination instead of human closeness. To sensitize the population to this, the disability organization Pro Infirmis conducted an experiment together with Jung von Matt/Limmat.

A young man with a severe physical disability as a result of a craniocerebral trauma to the brain stem put on a bear costume. He stood with it in the middle of the street in Zurich's Niederdorf from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 5 and stretched out his arms. The result was numerous passers-by spontaneously approaching the bear, hugging and hugging him.

The action has resulted in a film. It concludes with the question, "Do we have to dress up to get closer?" The project was supported by the American indie stars 'The Band of Horses'. They provided one of their hits as a soundtrack. The music is intended to give the film an additional emotional charge.
A making-of on the action provides further background on the experiment and an interview with the disabled main character.

Responsible at Pro Infirmis: Mark Zumbühl (Head of Communications & Member of GL), Bettina Konetschnig (Communications Consultant). Responsible at Jung von Matt/Limmat: Alexander Jaggy (ECD), Livio Dainese, Fernando Perez (CD), Samuel Christ (Text), Daniel Serrano (Art Direction), Ilonka Galliard (Agency Producer), Rolf Helfenstein, Nicolas Schoberth, Sabrina Sala (Consulting), Max Rudolph (PR), Alain Gsponer (Director), Pumpkin Film (Production), Band Of Horses (Music).

Relaunch of the Alpha cadre supplement

Since 1997, Alpha has been published weekly as a supplement to the *Tages-Anzeiger* and the *Sonntagszeitung*. Starting Saturday, April 2, the executive job supplement will feature a redesigned layout and new content.

With more color, a more generous layout and improved reader guidance, the aim is also to appeal to a younger target audience. There are also new sections such as the "Wage Graphic" and the "Business Travel" and "Remarkable" sections, which appear at regular intervals. The lead article on current topics from the world of work will be retained, as will the salmon-colored newsprint.

In addition to the existing ad formats, Alpha is creating further opportunities for advertisers to place job or image ads. The second newspaper bundle now begins with a half-page editorial article, followed by two new advertising spaces. Two spaces or half a page can now also be booked on the last page, which also contains an editorial article.
