Ideart: New appearance for the Gunzgen Nord service area

The Gunzgen Nord rest stop has a new look. The new design, created by Ideart, is intended to reflect the rest stop’s high-quality dining options and modern atmosphere.

The Gunzgen Nord highway service area offers a modern atmosphere with sophisticated and efficient gastronomy, the agency writes in a press release. The appearance has been adapted to this claim. The classic logo, in red and grey, is based on the distinctive colors and shapes of the service area and thus enables clear recognition, the press release continues.

The new corporate design unifies the appearance under the name "Raststätte Gunzgen Nord". The identity thus created is further strengthened by, among other things, the use of the restaurant's own placemats and menus in the new design. The former name "Eurorest" is no longer used.

"Like" button more important than online reviews

In just one year, Facebook's «Like» feature has become more important than online reviews of companies or products.

The click by users cannot replace negative reviews in particular. The social network does not offer a "don't like" button. In addition, the rating does not provide information about the pros and cons or experiences of other consumers. As the market researchers at City Grid Media and Harris Interactive show according to the press release, the brief recommendations are nevertheless more popular with users than more detailed reviews.

Facebook still plays a subordinate role in purchasing decisions. Compared to Google, company websites, price comparison sites and other research tools, social communities are still a secondary source of information. Nevertheless, the networks are becoming increasingly important, especially for web stores and internet retailers. According to City Grid, potential customers like to get an overall impression on the web. Ratings by other users are increasingly playing a decisive role and are spreading much faster than entire reviews, for example among Facebook friends.

According to City Grid, around a fifth of users now click on Facebook's "Like" button to give companies a good review, for example. In contrast, only around 13 percent write short reviews. At 75 percent, word of mouth is still the most popular way of spreading positive reviews. According to the data, Facebook's "Like" recommendation can provide the impetus for a possible purchase, although it is not usually used as the sole and final basis for a decision. Users first verify a good rating with other sources.

The agency at the airport was commissioned by the City of St. Gallen to redesign the annual report for the Waste Management division.

Swisscable: Strong growth in digital television

Cable networks in Switzerland gained customers across all digital services in the first quarter of this year. The strongest growth was seen in the digital TV segment.

Swiss cable networks grew in all digital markets in the first quarter of 2011. The largest year-on-year growth was recorded in digital cable TV with around 206,000 new subscribers (+32%), as Swisscable writes in a press release. In total, more than 844,000 households had digital cable TV at the end of March 2011. This figure includes the use of high-definition television (HDTV), which is available throughout the entire cable network coverage area. The penetration of digital television on cable was therefore just under 30% (+8%). In addition to digital cable television, the areas of cable internet (+50,408 customers) and cable telephony (+67,545 customers) also grew in the first quarter of 2011.

TBWA\Zurich: Stealing ideas for Copyright Control

Copyright Control provides creative professionals and agencies with a contact point for everything to do with copyright. TBWA\Zurich has developed a campaign for this.

If copyrighted works are infringed, for example by idea theft, Copyright Control takes action. To put a stop to the crime of idea theft, TBWA\Zurich went on a thieving spree itself and created plagiarized versions of well-known advertising campaigns in Switzerland. But this was done legally and with the consent of the stolen agencies. For the first two motifs, they were allowed to use the Appenzeller cheese campaign by Contexta and the motifs of Swisspatat by Neue LGK. Further thefts are still being committed and will also be communicated via advertisements in trade media.

Joint online platform from publishers put on hold

The joint online platform planned by Tamedia, Ringier, NZZ and Orell Füssli has been put on hold for the time being. One of the reasons is the complexity of the project, as Tamedia spokesman Christoph Zimmer confirmed an advance report from Handelszeitung on Wednesday.

The publishers had examined whether - as a pilot project - a joint platform of various Swiss media would make sense, Zimmer said in response to an inquiry from the SDA news agency. Swisscom was also involved as a partner and would have been responsible for payment processing. Users would have been able to consume Swiss content on various channels, as Zimmer explained. The advantage of this would have been that a user would only have had to register once in order to access the content of the various publishers as a subscription or individually.

A pilot test was carried out last year. According to Zimmer, selected users were provided with a device - a kind of e-book. They were able to test the device and the content. The trial was very interesting and valuable. Nevertheless, the partners decided to abandon the project. Zimmer cited the complexity of the project as one of the reasons. On the other hand, Apple had changed the guidelines regarding the subscription model: The providers would have been forced to go through the iTunes store.

Not buried forever

Certainly, a lot had been invested in the project, Zimmer said. But it is not the case that it was not worth it. For everyone involved, it was a new field in which they could gain experience. The project has not been buried forever, said the Tamedia spokesman, but is currently on hold. The company is keeping an eye on developments. A lot can change in the field in a short time. Possibly one will come back to it later. (SDA)

Last but not least: Of lakes, mountains and bare feet

Do you actually know what the city of Lucerne has to do with sex? If not, it's high time you watched the new TV commercial from Lucerne Tourism. After that, you'll know. Or maybe not.

The head of the agency responsible, Schmid, Riedmann & Partner, is quoted on Schwyzerzeitung.ch as saying that everyone can think what they want. He does not believe that people could be irritated or even annoyed by the commercial. However, a certain "ambiguity" is of course intentional - there should be a few jokes about it in the pub. What's more, people today are used to far more than two pairs of feet lying on top of each other.

We think: It is rather unlikely that the pornographic, not too ambiguous elements of the commercial will be too crude for the common people and that they might react irritated or even angry as a result - in fact, today's people are used to a lot more. But we ask ourselves: is there a connection between the beautiful city of Lucerne and the sometimes beautiful and sometimes less beautiful sex act? And if so, WHERE THE HELL IS IT?
