Newmedia: Internet agency now also in Zurich

The Southeast Switzerland-based internet agency Newmedia is opening a new office in Zurich. With this move, it hopes to attract more clients in the Unterland region.

In addition to its headquarters in Chur, Newmedia has a site in Ilanz and one in Glarus. Now another one is being added: The agency is now offering consulting services from Neugasse 10 in Zurich, while the technical implementation of projects will continue to take place at the three existing locations.

The internet agency, which, like Werbewoche, is part of Südostschweiz Medien, started out ten years ago with ten employees. It currently employs around 35 Internet specialists. Web presences for companies are designed and created on the basis of the CMS software Typo3 and Drupal - for example, the portal Suedostschweiz.ch in addition to that of Werbewoche. For small companies, associations and organizations, Newmedia also offers a package for simple websites under the title "Everyweb".

Junghäni's: More privacy for animals

The Bern-based agency Junghäni’s has developed campaigns for the Canton of Bern’s Nature Conservation Department that are intended to encourage people to be more considerate of animals.

The Canton of Bern's Nature Promotion Department is responsible for the management of over two hundred nature reserves in the canton. Raising awareness among visitors is a central aspect of this work. Junghäni's was commissioned to launch a campaign to encourage young people in particular to show more consideration for animals in nature reserves. Instead of confronting young people with prohibition signs, the agency created a poster and advertising campaign with three entertaining subjects, as detailed in a press release. The images show animals being disturbed in intimate situations by onlookers.

The posters are displayed in the vicinity of various schools. At the same time, the teachers are contacted by post. On Naturfoerderung.ch pupils learn more about the nature reserves and can take part in a competition.

Responsible at the Nature Promotion Department of the Canton of Bern: Urs Känzig-Schoch (Head of Department), Erwin Jörg (Head of Support). Responsible at Junghäni's: Julien Junghäni (AD/CD), Martin Arnold (text), Crocidu Fresne (photography), W. Gassmann AG (printing).

"Golden Windbag 2011": Nominated companies fight back

Foodwatch is holding a vote to determine which food manufacturer deserves the «Golden Windbag 2011» award for the most brazen advertising lie. Now the organization itself is coming under fire.

The accusations made by Foodwatch are unfounded and mislead the public, writes Danone in a statement available to Werbewoche.ch. Danone works on the basis of recognized research and studies: The effect of Aktivia on intestinal well-being mentioned in the communication is based on extensive and long-standing research. The communication is based on the results of 17 scientific studies (randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled efficacy studies) with the product in humans. "The studies show significant results for the effect of Activia on intestinal well-being," the company continues. The studies and their results have been reviewed by independent scientists and published in renowned scientific journals. And customers have confirmed through their own experiences what has been scientifically proven in the studies.

According to Horizont.net, the Berlin-based confectionery company Storck, whose Nimm2 fruit candy is one of the candidates for the "most audacious advertising lie of 2011", also rejects all accusations and more or less bluntly accuses Foodwatch of being financed by the competition and therefore not acting independently. In a statement, Storck justifies the accusation with the fact that Foodwatch was founded with a donation of 250,000 euros from the confectionery manufacturer Alfred Ritter. "The debate about our product therefore comes from an organization that has been very significantly financed by one of our company's main competitors," Storck's Head of Communications Bernd Rößler is quoted as saying on Horizont.net - and accuses Foodwatch of simply being biased.

Digital moms: affluent, working, online

As part of their «Exchange» lecture series for marketing decision-makers, experts from the Y&R Group presented their latest study on the target group of mothers on Tuesday to a completely «sold-out» Widder Saal in Zurich.

The "Digital Moms" research study provides in-depth insights into the online information and purchasing behavior of mothers in Switzerland. 93% of mothers use the internet every day. 44% use the internet even more than before pregnancy. 19 percent use TV less when a baby needs to be looked after. 37% of 25 to 55-year-old women in Switzerland own a smartphone and a further 19% want to buy one soon. And on top of all this: Families in Switzerland spend 84 billion francs a year on private consumption. 75 percent of purchasing decisions are made by women. Mothers make decisions in all product and service categories - except for car insurance, consumer electronics and sports equipment. In these areas, men are still allowed to pass on their knowledge to women.

More information on the trends in online shopping and other surprising details can be found in a summary of the study, which is available for a fee from Media-use-indox.ch can be ordered. pan

"Wirz Media Realization" as a new unit

In recent months, Wirz has expanded its production expertise and capacity . Under the leadership of Daniel Ehrensperger, formerly CEO of the media services provider WPS, a unit called «Wirz Medienrealisation» was created.

On the one hand, the unit, which now employs over 20 people, provides classic prepress services such as image processing, image finishing, final artwork, data preparation and proofreading. On the other hand, Wirz Medienrealization also employs specialists for production consulting and processing as well as for the purchase of external services.

Wirz Medienrealization has been producing all of Migros' advertising in-house for some time now. This mandate includes, for example, the realization of the price flyer, which is produced weekly in over 90 formats, offer and language variants. For others, the unit is also responsible for the development and implementation of publishing solutions based on a complete media asset management system.

Edipresse shares to disappear from stock exchange

The shares of the Western Swiss publishing house Edipresse are set to be delisted. The Lamunière family, which owns the company, plans to buy back the few remaining shares that are not yet under its control.

For this, it is offering 88.90 Swiss francs net per registered share and 444.50 Swiss francs per bearer share after deduction of the planned dividend payment, as the publishing house announced in a communiqué on Tuesday. The Lamunière family currently controls 87.3 percent of the share capital and 93.4 percent of the votes.

The takeover bid was the consequence of the sale of Edipresse's Swiss business to Tamedia. Since the Merger with the Tamedia business under the Zurich umbrella was to be completed this year, it no longer made sense to list Edipresse on the stock exchange after the sale of the most important part of the company. Originally, the merger was not planned until the beginning of 2013.

The buyback offer is now intended to enable minority shareholders to exit the shares on reasonable terms before they are delisted. The tender offer is expected to run from June 17 until 4 p.m. on June 30, it said.

At midday on Tuesday, bearer shares were still trading at 480 Swiss francs, well above the buyback price, despite a 4 percent drop; at the same time, registered shares with a par value five times lower still cost 96 Swiss francs. (SDA)

Audience Council: Champions League and "Eco" observed

The Viewers« Council of SRG Deutschschweiz has taken a close look at Swiss Television (SF)»s coverage of the Champions League and the business magazine «Eco.» The Council is not entirely satisfied with the former. "Eco," on the other hand, has received high praise.

The coverage before, during and after the Champions League match is highly professional and has a refreshing effect thanks to the moderation, according to the Audience Council. However, the 45-minute pre-match coverage tends to be perceived as too long. Some of the intermission discussions were rather superficial and the analysis too predictable. However, in the opinion of the Audience Council, this is more down to the guests than the presenters.

The Audience Council also sees potential for improvement in the use of language: while the commentators stick to the standard language, the moderation in the studio is conducted entirely in Swiss German. Compared to other sports, there was also a lack of experts as co-commentators - an element that worked very well at Euro 2008, for example. In contrast, the summaries of the matches taking place at the same time that were not broadcast live at the end of the broadcast made a positive impression.

"Eco" makes business understandable and tangible

According to the Council, "Eco" shows economic relationships in a very understandable way, sheds light on the background and points out discrepancies. Above all, it shows the impact of economic processes on people. It is also considered positive that "Eco" gives a lot of space to Swiss topics and always makes reference to Switzerland when dealing with topics that concern other countries. However, several council members put question marks behind the company portraits, which deliberately do not contain any critical tones. For the viewer, the message that these contributions are intended to convey is not recognizable.

The graphics, which illustrate economic relationships and mechanisms and make them understandable, left a positive impression. The moderation by Reto Lipp was largely appreciated. Eco" also received a lot of praise for its website. It provides information that can hardly be found anywhere else on the Internet in such a well-prepared form. The Council also welcomes the fact that users can suggest topics.
