Last but not least: Down with the PowerPoint presentation

Switzerland has gained a new party: the Anti-Powerpoint Party has set itself the goal - as the name suggests - of reducing the number of boring PowerPoint presentations. In addition, those who want to do without PowerPoint should no longer have to justify themselves.

The Anti-Powerpoint Party, or APPP for short, sees itself as an advocate for the approximately 250 million people per month who are forced to attend boring presentations in companies, at university and in training and who have not yet found any political representation. The cause of the problem is said to be the use of presentation software such as PowerPoint. It is a deplorable state of affairs that superiors prescribe the use of Powerpoint to their employees and that teachers oblige students to use Powerpoint, the statement says. It is not PowerPoint that is to be abolished, but only the PowerPoint requirement.

If you want to get politically involved against PowerPoint, you can find here more information.

The arguments from the mouth of Mr. Pöhm, President APPP:

SF: Market share of 30.7 percent in the first half of 2011

According to preliminary results from SRF's midyear analysis, its TV programming has achieved a market share of 30.7 percent. Compared to the first half of 2010, SF 1 has seen a slight increase. News programs, in particular, have recorded an increase in market share.

In the first six months of 2011, SRF's TV channels (SF 1, SF zwei, SF info) achieved an average market share of 30.7% throughout the day, according to the press release. Looking at the individual channels separately, SF 1's market share of 21.0% represents an increase of 0.8 percentage points compared to the 2010 half-year average. Due to the lack of major sporting events, SF zwei lost 3.9 percentage points compared to the previous year (January to June 2011: 8.0% market share). In 2010, SF zwei had benefited greatly from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the Football World Cup in South Africa. SF info gained 0.1 percentage points compared to the first half of 2010 (1.8% market share).

Information programs in particular made gains on SF 1. The main edition of "Tagesschau", for example, increased its market share to 50.8% in the first half of 2011 (up 1.6 percentage points on the first half of 2010). "10vor10" achieved an increase of 2.7 percentage points (January to June 2011: 35.1 percent market share), while "Eco" recorded an increase of 3.4 percentage points (21.7 percent). According to the press release, the winners also included "Kassensturz" (32.7 percent; up 1.1 percentage points), "Einstein" (22.5 percent; up 1.1 percentage points) and "Arena" (21.2 percent; up 0.1 percentage points). Entertainment events such as "Die grössten Schweizer Talente" (average market share: 42.4%) and "Alpenrose 2011" (36.4% market share) were also very popular with audiences in the months from January to June 2011.

Blickpunkt: KMU is now published monthly - Relaunch of the business magazine

Changes are on the horizon for the business magazine *Blickpunkt: KMU*. Key positions within the publishing organization will be filled, the publication frequency will increase, cross-media activities will be expanded, the layout will be redesigned, and the editorial concept will be revised in collaboration with Lüchinger Publishing.

After the first issue of Blickpunkt: KMU appeared in April under the umbrella of Immobilien & Business Verlag, the administrative integration of the publication into the publishing house has now been completed, according to a statement on Monday. The first major change is now on the agenda: from August 2011, the magazine will appear monthly, and from 2012, ten issues per year are planned with double issues in December/January and July/August. The content concept is also to be refreshed and more clearly aligned with the requirements of the reader and advertising market, according to the statement. René Lüchinger, owner of the specialized company Lüchinger Publishing, will be called in as editorial consultant for the new concept and will continue to provide journalistic advice to Blickpunkt: KMU after the realignment. At the same time, the entrepreneur portal Spotlightkmu.ch expanded and incorporated into the "Business from a Single Source" network of Immobilien und Business Verlag. In addition, a series of events with the working title KMU Talk is being set up and will make its debut in early 2012.

Personnel changes

As of September 1, Nadia Etzweiler will take over as publishing director at Blickpunkt: KMU, for which Dominique Hiltbrunner has been responsible on an interim basis to date. Etzweiler was most recently publishing director at Gastro Journal and Edition Gastronomique. The position of advertising manager has already been filled by Michael Enzenross, who has already worked for the German business magazine Econo and Graubünden Magazin, among others. Jasmin Schmid will remain in charge of customer service, while the successful cooperation with the external advertising marketer Cebeco will be terminated due to the newly established internal competencies.

Life Medien: Rolf Hess is the new publisher

Rolf Hess has been the new publisher of Life Medien since July 1, 2011. He has thus assumed operational management of the publishing house.

Life Medien currently has two titles on the market: Bau LIife and KMU Life. Rolf Hess is a chartered accountant with many years of experience in the SME sector and an author. In his view, the publishing house is about to take a new qualitative step: "The magazine philosophy and the layout of the magazines have developed well in recent years. Now we need to become stronger in some areas, such as distribution, and move onto new cross-media shores without losing our grip on the market. We also want to position ourselves better on the market with at least one new magazine. This will first require investment."

Does Tamedia cancel the sale of the local stations?

Ringier and the Escor Group definitively withdrew from the race for the Tamedia local stations last week. In an interview with the newspaper *Sonntag*, Tamedia has now, for the first time, acknowledged the possibility that the stations could remain within the group.

If the price is not right, there is no need to sell, says Tamedia spokesman Christoph Zimmer. But he is still optimistic that a "positive solution" will be found. CEO Martin Kall is trying to drive up prices, Sonntag continues. Zimmer is unable to resolve the contradiction with the reasons given at the time for the intended sale of the "radio and television activities". Tamedia wanted to sell these "in view of unfavorable framework conditions and low synergy potential" as well as uncertain prospects with regard to the reallocation of concessions. This will not change if the Zurich-based publisher retains the Tele Züri, Tele Bärn, Radio 24 and Capital FM stations. It would also have to build a new studio for Radio 24, which would cost around CHF 2 million.

> Ringier: definitely withdraws from takeover talks for Tele Züri

Last but not least: Faust beats romance

The numbers speak for themselves—pure muscle power is more appealing than a fairy-tale royal wedding: Wladimir Klitschko drew more than twice as many viewers to their TV sets as Albert and Charlene.

A whopping 15.5 million viewers watched Wladimir Klitschko defend his world champion title on RTL on Saturday. This corresponds to a market share of 67 percent. The wedding of Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock did not attract half as many viewers the previous afternoon: An average of 6.03 million watched the four-and-a-half-hour broadcast on ZDF; the market share was 37.6 percent.

According to Spiegel.de, the difference is even clearer if you only look at the 14 to 49 age group: Here, the boxing match achieved a market share of 69.9 percent with 7.5 million viewers. The wedding achieved a market share of just 18.1 percent among the same age group. From this we conclude: The vast majority of marriage fans were over 50 years old. The efforts of the bride and groom to make the celebration decidedly modern and cosmopolitan do not really seem to have borne fruit - but it was certainly worth a try.

Erdmannpeisker: Campaign for Bank Linth realized

Since the beginning of the year, the regional bank has been working with the Erdmannpeisker agency to prepare for its repositioning; now, coinciding with the opening of the branch in Erlenbach, the new branding campaign has been launched.

The agency writes in a press release that the new claim can be used to address three of the bank's core competencies: clarity, awareness and accessibility. Simplicity is at the heart of the bank's new positioning. Bank Linth stands for: Simpler banking at last. The positioning also pursues the goal of communicating the relevant customer benefits in a differentiating way. This message must be conveyed to Bank Linth customers in the claim, but also in every consultation and in all communication. After all, Bank Linth does everything it can to ensure that the customer can say after a consultation: "That was really easy."

The illustrations were created by the Dutch artist Tjin Snoodijk.

Responsible at Bank Linth: Thomas Eichler (CEO), Fredy Geisser (Head of Marketing and Communications), Armin Diethelm (Head of Corporate Communications). Responsible at Erdmannpeisker: Gabriel Peisker (CD), Christina Schmid (AD), Selina Helbling (consultant), Tijn Snoodijk (illustrator). Responsible at Mediaschneider: Claudia Mühlebach.

The absolute rotation

Shining Pictures, Seed, and Absolutturnus celebrated their traditional summer party on Thursday in Wollishofen am See. More than 300 film industry professionals, clients, and advertising executives enjoyed the barbecue and networked in a relaxed atmosphere.

With the summer party 2009 the spot producers Shining Pictures, Seed as a specialist for audiovisual corporate communication as well as Absolutturnus Filmproductions invited for the first time to a joint summer party. At that time they celebrated "1 year Shining" and "2 years Seed". Last year they somehow didn't find a suitable motto to celebrate. But now Reiner Roduner has remembered his old philosophy "Absolutturnus Film is every reason to celebrate". So the absolute turn for the rhythm of the celebrations has probably been found. "In any case, I will not found a 4th company to have yet another excuse to continue the tradition," said Reiner Roduner. 300 friends and customers were invited. 120 signed up. 320 finally came. The grill was prepared for the rush, as was the bar. The now 12 employees of the three film companies also took turns here. Reiner Roduner, Felix Courvoisier and Stefan Bircher devoted themselves to the guests. They also see their party as "a thank you to the many freelancers" as well as customers, of course.
