Jung von Matt/Limmat: Ewigi Liebi for Graubünden's biker paradise

Lenzerheide and Graubünden Ferien have launched a downhill karaoke event. For a two-minute downhill karaoke video clip, 20 participants pedaled their way down the mountain while singing along to the Swiss hit «Ewigi Liebi.».

The principle of downhill karaoke is simple. You swing yourself onto a bike, heat up somewhere on the 305-kilometer trail network of Lenzerheide down a slope and sing to the sound that is played through the headphones. The speed, the terrain and the fun of riding make for an unusual interpretation of the song. For example, every bump on the trail is directly noticeable in the song.

Padi Bernhard - the lead singer of Mash - made the beginning himself. This was followed by the downhill Swiss champion Emilie Siegenthaler, Fourcross vice world champion Roger Rinderknecht and the Alpchörli Vaz/Obervaz to name but a few. At the end it should be clear: "Downhill Karaoke - that's only on Lenzerheide".

Responsible at Graubünden Ferien: Gaudenz Thoma (CEO), Gieri Spescha (Head of Brand Management & PR), Mike Frei (Brand Management & PR). Responsible at Lenzerheide Marketing Support: Manfred Fiegl (CEO), Marco Michel (Head of Marketing), Silvio Baselgia (Product Manager). Tommy Hilfiger fall campaign: "Home With the Hilfigers"

The Tommy Hilfiger Group has announced its "Home With the Hilfigers" advertising campaign for fall 2011. The focus is on "The Hilfigers", a fictional and typically American family of different characters who come together at home from all four corners of the world.

The campaign is set in the Hilfigers' own home, where there is a constant coming and going throughout the fall. From the first wafts of mist to the last leaves falling, the Hilfigers are constantly on the move. Back from university (some prematurely), from China or from the hairdresser on East 61st Street. Getting ready for breakfast, enjoying dinner in bed. Relaxing... from the chandelier. Cycling from room to room. Caressing stuffed animals. Emerging from secret passages. Sharing the bedroom. Posing. Pouting. Dressing up. Fighting pillow fights. The convivial atmosphere increases from moment to moment until you can feel in every corner that the house is full.

"Home With the Hilfigers" will be launched worldwide in autumn 2011 as a multimedia program with online, print, outdoor and social media appearances. The print campaign will be placed in well-known fashion magazines such as Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, InStyle and Harper's Bazaar, supplemented by multi-page advertisements in the American press. Outdoor advertising campaigns are planned in New York and well-known European cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels and Zurich. The campaign will also be featured on Tommy.com and on the brand's Facebook and Twitter channels.

The campaign was photographed by Craig McDean, designed by Karl Templer and creatively directed by Trey Laird of Laird + Partners.

New PR mandate for Grayling Switzerland / Europe

Allianz Worldwide Care has commissioned the international PR agency Grayling to design and implement its Europe-wide communications program. In addition to Switzerland, the program places a particular focus on the markets in the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands.

The new mandate will be coordinated by Grayling's Dublin office. In the final selection process, Grayling was able to prevail against two other competitors. According to Claude Daboul, Director of Sales, Marketing and Operations at Allianz Worldwide Care AWC, it was not only the agency's global presence that was important, but also its ethics and values, which are very close to those of AWC. "We wanted to work with an agency that had both a global presence and a wealth of experience and expertise to complement our objectives and meet our requirements," she says, explaining the decision to work with Grayling.

Buzzer: Word-of-mouth marketing establishes itself in Swiss marketing

Buzzer kicked off the second quarter of 2011 as a word-of-mouth agency with a total of three new campaigns for Ovomaltine Crunchy Cream, Held Eco cleaning products, and Ebly (Mars Foods). A recent study by the agency on online word-of-mouth marketing (eWoM) shows that Facebook “Likes” are overrated as a tool for online recommendations.

According to the agency, online word of mouth (WoM) is playing an increasingly important role. Their latest study shows what is important here. Although the largest proportion of word-of-mouth communication by consumers about brands still takes place offline in real life at over 80 percent, the importance of online is steadily increasing, but in a different way than one might think. New studies by Keller Fay and Google confirm that word-of-mouth conversations primarily trigger Google search queries. According to the agency, it is therefore important in word of mouth campaigns to encourage consumers to write online reviews on forums and blogs. In a study, Buzzer examined where and how which WoM buzz needs to be generated, in which over 1,000 product testers were surveyed by Buzzer on the topic of online Word of Mouth. The following findings emerged:

1. although a lot is shared on social media, online stores and review portals are still preferred over social media when searching for opinions on the Internet.

2. in terms of credibility, social media is only in fourth place and in terms of opinion-forming, a "like" is currently only important for 31 percent of respondents, while ratings, benefit assessments of tests and experiences as well as detailed reviews by consumers are considerably more important.

3. the buzzer study also shows that automated social media tools - such as the "Share" button - only make sense if relevant content is also distributed as a comment - a problem that many Facebook fan pages have that only have "Likers" but no other content. This is because like inflation means that more than 40 percent of respondents no longer pay any attention to a like.

Last but not least: Cite, aggregate, research - fired

A Huffington Post employee was fired for plagiarizing a piece from the U.S. advertising publication Ad Age. This case has sparked a discussion in U.S. online media about the practice of summarizing content.

The original author of the text, Simon Dumenco, complained because his article was linked on the Huffington Post but did not achieve enough page views. The same article was linked at the technical aggregator Techmeme, which only transported the headline and link, without a hand-written summary. In this way, the link achieved 746 pageviews, compared to 57 pageviews for the Huffington Post. This was reported by Meedia.de on Tuesday. Dumenco sees this as a rebuttal to the argument often used by HuffPo co-founder Arianna Huffington that the online newspaper drives more traffic to other websites through aggregations, according to Meedia.de. The Huffington Post employee was fired after Dumenco complained and made the case public, as Meedia.de further writes. The Huffington Post has "zero tolerance for this kind of behavior", explained Peter Goodman, the business editor responsible at the Huffington Post. This can also be read on Meedia.de. What happened was "totally unacceptable" and contradicted the conventions in the HuffPo newsroom, Goodman continued.

We regret the dismissal of the employee, but above all the lack of understanding on the part of the person in charge at the Huffington Post, who clearly no longer even seems to understand the jobs of his subordinates. Firing an online editor because she aggregated too much is comparable to taking away a dog's stick because it fetched it too often - unfair.

Meta Design develops new brand strategy together with Arag

A new brand strategy is intended to highlight the transformation of the Arag insurance group and strengthen the brand’s public image. The branding agency Meta Design has been supporting the brand strategy process since 2010 and advising the company on brand management.

After an intensive analysis, Meta Design defined the following together with those responsible
Arag's strengths and unique selling points and bundled these into a positioning with the leitmotif "independence". An idea designed to illustrate what Arag has in common with its customers. The aim is to make the brand promise emotionally accessible and to expand the impact of the Arag brand.

As the first measure in the implementation of the brand strategy, Meta Design developed a brand film that is intended to get to the heart of Arag's conviction and make its self-image tangible for employees and customers. The "independence" motif is brought to life through the senses, and a specially composed brand song supports the message acoustically.
