Newsnetz also in French-speaking Switzerland from 2012

The Newsnetz news network, which previously comprised the news portals Baz.ch, Bernerzeitung.ch, Derbund.ch, and Tagesanzeiger.ch, is now expanding its reach to French-speaking Switzerland through its merger with 24heures.ch, Lematin.ch, and Tdg.ch (Edipresse Suisse), is now also expanding into French-speaking Switzerland.

The news portals of the three daily newspapers 24 heures, Tribune de Genève and Le Matin will gradually take over the technical platform of Newsnetz over the next few months, as detailed in a press release issued on Thursday. At the same time, the existing editorial teams of 24heures.ch, Tdg.ch and Lematin.ch, which currently comprise around 20 full-time positions, will be strengthened and cooperation with the Newsnetz editorial teams in German-speaking Switzerland will be expanded. The participating daily newspapers will continue to bear overall journalistic responsibility for the individual news portals.

The Federal Parliament correspondents from all news portals will work at a joint newsdesk in Bern and the editorial offices will exchange texts, videos, images and photo spreads in a targeted manner, the statement continues. The Newsnetz editorial office in Zurich will also provide the editorial offices in French-speaking Switzerland with news from German-speaking Switzerland. During major national events such as votes, elections or disasters, the editorial teams will work together more closely in order to feel the national pulse as comprehensively as possible and to offer their readers added value through the additional perspectives beyond the language borders.

Joint sales team under the management of Stefano Buzzi

From January 2012, the national marketing of all news portals as well as the iPad and mobile applications will be handled by a joint Newsnetz sales team headed by Stefano Buzzi. A new sales team headed by Pascal Cornu will be set up within Edipub for regional marketing in French-speaking Switzerland. Until the end of 2011, all offers from 24heures.ch, tdg.ch and lematin.ch can still be booked via Romandie Online.

According to the company, this will create the news network with the widest reach in Switzerland as of January 1, 2012, with around 3.2 million unique clients per month (Net Metrix Audit June 2011).

Tamedia: Handover of single ad production will be implemented as planned

The handover of single ad production to external partners announced in November 2010 is being implemented as planned. In Zurich, Production Services will hand over the production of individual ads to a partner in Germany at the beginning of 2012.

Production in Bern will be transferred to a second German partner in mid-2012. Tamedia made this announcement in a press release on Wednesday. With this step, Production Services is reacting to the sharp decline in work volumes over the past few years due to the decrease in individual advertisements and the increasing digital delivery of print-ready advertisements. The cooperation with specialized providers, who already produce advertisements for renowned German daily and weekly newspapers, ensures professional and stable production at competitive costs, Tamedia added. Service organizations are being set up in Berne and Zurich to coordinate the process.

The handover is expected to lead to 15 early retirements and 5 redundancies in Bern and Zurich by summer 2012. Tamedia's social plan and the corresponding early retirement program will apply to the employees affected.

Murdoch withdraws offer for complete takeover of BSkyB

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is withdrawing his bid to acquire the British broadcaster BSkyB. The bid covers the 61 percent of BSkyB shares that Murdoch's News Corp. does not already own.

The offer will now be withdrawn. This was announced by News Corp on Wednesday. The planned purchase of the pay-TV broadcaster BSkyB by Murdoch's News Corporation group was particularly controversial due to the latest revelations in the wiretapping affair. British Prime Minister David Cameron demanded legal consequences for those responsible for the scandal in parliament on Wednesday.

Those responsible for the "disgraceful" practices should be prosecuted, Cameron said. He also called on media mogul Murdoch's company to fully investigate the allegations. Cameron outlined details of a judicial committee of inquiry. This is to look into the affair surrounding the tapped phones of celebrities and private individuals at News International in parallel to the police investigation. It will be able to summon journalists, politicians, police officers and others involved to give evidence under oath.

Bribery payments to the police are also to be investigated. The Prime Minister once again defended himself against the fact that he had made the former editor-in-chief of the News of the World, Andy Coulson, his advisor. He had only done this because Coulson had assured him that he had not been involved in any criminal activities. If it turned out that he had lied, he would have to be punished. (sda)

Draftfcb/Lowe Group makes rockers confess

The agency Draftfcb/Lowe has created a campaign for the BMW Motorrad Roadshow. In addition to traditional advertising materials, the campaign is featured in a special banner that blurs the lines between traditional online advertising and online video.

Throughout the motorcycle season, dealers bring the latest motorcycles to the most beautiful routes in Switzerland. Here, motorcyclists can test ride all models to their heart's content. The result is test rides that impress everyone. Draftfcb/Lowe realizes this by showing a confessing foreign brand rider. Apparently he couldn't resist the temptation of a test drive. The film can be viewed on the Draftfcb/Lowe YouTube channel
