Hesskisssulzersutter: Advertised for FCZ with half-naked women

Hesskisssulzersutter has created new ad campaigns for FCZ to promote the team's new jerseys.

When the Swiss football championship kicks off again next Saturday, last season's runners-up FC Zurich will be wearing a new home jersey, the agency writes in a press release. In order to advertise this shirt, the agency relied on a bunch of half-naked FCZ fans who, shortly before the launch, would rather pull nothing over their heads than a jersey from previous seasons. All the fans had responded to an appeal and had no problem at all showing skin for their club. According to the press release, Nike's new FCZ jerseys meet "Considered Design" standards and are among the most environmentally friendly and sustainable outfits on the market.

Responsible at Hesskisssulzersutter: Oliver Schneider (CD), Dieter Boller and Michèle Bianchi (copywriter/concept designer), Manuel Bächler (AD), Marcel Huwyler (graphics) and Stephan Huber as well as Nathalie Zeller (consulting). Photos: Jonathan Heyer. Responsible at FCZ: Ancillo Canepa (President), Christian Müller (Head of Marketing).

ONZ: Melk von Flüe replaces Francesco Welti as editor-in-chief

ONZ Obwalden und Nidwalden Zeitung, which was founded in April 2010, will have a new editor-in-chief at the end of August. Melk von Flüe, who comes from Sachseln in the canton of Obwalden, will replace Francesco Welti, who previously headed the editorial team.

Melk von Flüe (pictured) has been an editor at ONZ since September last year and has so far reported mainly on politics and sport, according to a press release issued on Monday. He will be 30 years old next September and before joining ONZ, he worked as a freelancer and occasionally as an editorial employee for the Obwaldner Wochenblatt and the Neue Obwaldner Zeitung as well as in the Media Research department at AGB Nielsen in Buochs, Lugano and Sydney.

Francesco Welti will remain available to ONZ as Editor-in-Chief until the end of August and will gradually hand over his duties to Melk von Flüe until then. The current Editor-in-Chief is leaving ONZ for personal reasons. After working for the newspaper with full commitment for around one and a half years, he is now devoting himself to other challenges, writes the ONZ. "The ONZ is now so well positioned that I can hand over my position with a clear conscience," summarizes Welti, who is based in Ticino.

Melk von Flüe is already looking forward to his new role: "I am very motivated and would like to thank the ONZ Board of Directors for the trust they have placed in me." Von Flüe will head up an eight-strong editorial team and wants to anchor the newspaper, which has already quickly established itself in Obwalden and Nidwalden, even more firmly in the two original cantons.

The ONZ Obwalden und Nidwalden Zeitung is a micro-newspaper with a circulation of 10,000 copies. According to the press release, micro-newspapers are so called because their makers regard the region from which they report as a microcosm: Everything is local, everything is seen through the lens of one's own region. There are currently two micro-newspapers in Switzerland: The original, the Jungfrau Zeitung, and the first licensed edition, the ONZ Obwalden und Nidwalden Zeitung.

Wemf: Board of Directors expanded

Wemf's Board of Directors now consists of seven members. With this expansion, the company is adopting international standards and transitioning from a Media-Owned Committee (MOC) to a Joint Industry Committee (JIC).

At the 47th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of Wemf AG für Werbemedienforschung, it was decided to expand the Board of Directors. According to a statement on Monday, Caroline Thoma, member of the management of Ringier Switzerland, was elected as an additional member at the suggestion of the Swiss Media Association, and Roger Harlacher, Director Marketing & Sales of Zweifel Pomy-Chips, was elected at the suggestion of the Swiss Advertisers Association (SWA).

The new Board of Directors of Wemf is thus constituted as follows: Jürg Weber, Chairman, Delegate of the Association of Swiss Media; Stefan Bai, Vice Chairman, Delegate of the Association of Swiss Advertising Companies (VSW); Valérie Boagno, Delegate of the Association Presse Suisse; Roberto Rhiner, Peter Wanner and Caroline Thoma, all Delegates of the Association of Swiss Media; and Roger Harlacher, Delegate of the Association of Swiss Advertising Clients (SWA).

The election of Roger Harlacher as representative of the advertising clients also extends Wemf's formal status as a research organization, according to the statement. Wemf thus makes the leap from MOC (Media Owned Committee) to JIC (Joint Industry Committee).

Last but not least: Advertising for real men

News from the "sex sells - or not" front: Lift importer Hydraul Technik had the remarkable idea of comparing the Mammut Lift equipment it imports with push-up brassieres.

"We push everything to the right height," the company promises on a recent ad. And further down: "Heavy things made easy, with lifting platforms from Mammut Lift.". Plus, a woman's bust wrapped in a snazzy push-up bra. The womankind was certainly not waiting for this subject - on the contrary. Ugh, we say. However, the economic damage will probably be limited, since the ad was published in the commercial vehicle magazine Strassentransport - whose readership is more likely to be on the male side, i.e. the really male side (= truck-driving, beer-swilling, hard-rock-listening and porn-picture-hanging). And they will love the subject. For sure.

News agency DAPD swallows French Sipa Press

The German news agency DAPD has acquired the French photo agency Sipa Press from the Sud Communication media group.

DAPD views the takeover as a strategic investment to expand its European network, explained DAPD co-owner Peter Löw on Monday. According to SDA, the new owners have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Sipa Press delivers 6,000 images a day to more than 40 countries and has historical archives.

The news agency group DAPD, with a turnover of 27 million euros, supplies around 700 customers with news in text, image and video formats. The German group emerged from the merger of the news agency DDP and the former German service of the US agency Associated Press (AP). (SDA)

Sat.1 Switzerland: FDP National Councilor Filippo Leutenegger hosts Arena

Nine years after leaving Swiss television SF, Zurich FDP National Council member Filippo Leutenegger is returning to the screen. Starting in August, the former SF editor-in-chief will host a weekly arena on the private station Sat.1 Schweiz.

"Filippos Politarena" will be broadcast in eight seasons between mid-August and mid-October in the run-up to the federal elections in the fall. This was announced by Sat.1 Switzerland on Sunday. The station thus confirmed a report in the Sonntagszeitung.

Sat1 Schweiz is participating in the political opinion-forming process for the first time with a discussion show, the statement continues. The station is thus making a contribution to the public service. According to Sonntagszeitung, Sat.1 has letters of intent from Swiss regional stations that want to take over the Arena.

"Filippo's Politarena" is based on the arena he hosted at SF from 1991 to 1999. The new program will be broadcast for the first time on August 24 at 10:15 pm. The show is intended to contribute to the diversity of discussions and opinions in the run-up to the National Council and Council of States elections this fall, and to stand up for the democratic opinion-forming process, according to Sat.1 CEO Mike Gut.

Last but not least: Ivan S. and his media environment

"Ivan S. should continue to rape" is the well-known slogan of a current SVP campaign. What was much discussed as a poster appears even more disconcerting as a quarter-page ad - the ad simply doesn't really fit in any context.

The ad distorts a large number of images and news items in an unintentional way. In Sunday, for example, it is placed in an extremely interesting way - directly below a vacation picture of two children fishing.

zgl_ivan1_0_160x120

The NZZ has found another solution to this problem. They simply put the ad under a picture of Christoph Blocher.

zgl_ivan2_160x120

By chance or on purpose, a properly used layout can undeniably achieve a strong effect. And not just in print: A different kind of poster campaign
