Hansjörg Enz becomes talk show host at TVO

Starting September 7, former SF host Hansjörg Enz will regularly host the political and economic talk show «Fokus» on TVO, a regional television station in Eastern Switzerland.

Hansjörg Enz was a member of the founding crew of the former Radio aktuell in 1984, later becoming a reporter and presenter of the SF DRS news program Tagesschau. After leaving Swiss television, Enz was media officer for Helvetas and lecturer at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences Winterthur (now ZHAW), where he was responsible for the practical training of 300 students in the field of journalism/organizational communication. From 2008 to 2010, Hansjörg Enz worked for the German aid organization Eirene in Congo, where he trained journalists.

Hansjörg Enz says about his commitment to TVO: "I am excited by the task of presenting a discussion program on politics and business. The fact that other former TV faces are returning to the screen at almost the same time is a nice coincidence and a sign that television still has confidence in older men. "

Will Radio 24 not be sold after all?

Tamedia may not want to sell Zurich-based Radio 24 after all. The media company has not yet found a suitable buyer - and the station's earnings have improved significantly.

At the half-year financial press conference, Chairman of the Board of Directors Pietro Supino said that Radio 24's results had improved significantly. Tamedia's figures do not reveal how much profit the station made. Apparently, however, the improvement has an influence on the sales negotiations. According to the news agency SDA, Supino is calmly examining whether and to whom Radio 24 should be sold. The word "whether" indicates the possibility that Tamedia will not part with Radio 24 after all. The future of the station is to be clarified by the end of the year.

The same applies to Capital FM from Bern. Supino did not comment on the latter on Wednesday. Last week, Tamedia announced that it would sell the two TV stations Tele Züri and Tele Bärn to AZ Medien in Aarau. The sales price is not known.

Euro RSCG Zurich presents One Young World 2011

To promote One Young World 2011, a global forum for young people who want to shape the future together, Euro RSCG Zurich developed a broad-based, multi-stage campaign.

Following the event premiere in London in 2010, this year's edition of the Forum will take place in Zurich from September 1 to 4. More than 1,000 young people from over 40 nations will then come together in Zurich's Kongresshaus to discuss the future of our world. In a first campaign phase is to draw attention to the event with stirring posters. Here you can see politicians who - as the real press images prove - too often waste their time with unimportant things instead of acting responsibly within the scope of their leadership function.

However, One Young World does not only take a stand against irresponsible politicians, it also discusses and provides its own solutions to remedy the ills of the world. Therefore, in a second campaign phase the broad spectrum of topics covered by the congress. Here, print subjects show the fresh approaches to solutions that young thinkers are using to tackle several world problems at the same time.

In a third phase of the campaign, a Facebook experiment also enables the general public to join in the One Young World discussions. Against the backdrop of the clocks being set back worldwide on October 30, the starting signal is given in Zurich for a social media campaign of a special kind. The linchpin is the one hour that everyone gets as a gift at the time change. World leaders are to use this time to think again about the decisions they have made, to work out new solutions, to correct mistakes. Under the motto "Time change, mind change. Leaders of the world, 1 hour to rethink your decisions." everyone can go to Facebook.com/timechangemindchange write about which politicians' decisions he feels are hasty, not fully thought through, or just plain wrong.

The campaign has been running since mid-August in Switzerland, abroad and on the web.

Financial Times has withdrawn from Apple's App Store

The renowned business newspaper Financial Times (FT) has removed its iPad and iPhone applications from Apple's online store. A spokesperson for the British newspaper said on Wednesday that a compromise could not be reached in the dispute over customer data.

Apple wants access to subscribers' customer data, but the FT rejects this. The iPhone manufacturer has recently demanded that app subscriptions must be processed via its own online store. This gives the company access to the data of millions of cell phone and tablet users.

The iPad, which was introduced a year and a half ago, was a key driver behind the rising number of subscriptions to the online edition of the FT. They now account for around a quarter of all subscriptions. To become less dependent on Apple, in June the FT became the first major newspaper to launch a web-based version of its mobile app. Subscribers will soon be able to log in from any device via their internet browser.
