Net-Metrix-Mobile: Share of tablet users quintupled in one year

The Net-Metrix-Mobile special report records the development of mobile internet usage via small screen devices (SSD) and tablets. The latest edition illustrates the boom in mobile internet usage in Switzerland.

Mobile Internet use is becoming increasingly popular: The current and third edition of the special report Net-Metrix-Mobile 2011-2 confirms the trend that so-called small screen devices (SSD) are increasingly being used to access the Internet. These include devices in the mobile phone/smartphone, MP3 player/iPod/PDA or personal organizer categories with a corresponding Internet function. The number of these Internet users has now risen to 2 million since the first survey in summer 2010, which corresponds to four out of ten online users.

According to the press release, the development among SSD heavy users, who surf the web daily or almost daily via smartphones and the like, is even more impressive: This share has grown from 14% to 26% and now accounts for one in four internet users, or 1.4 million Swiss citizens.

The group of Internet users who visit the World Wide Web via tablets and eBook readers is developing very dynamically, albeit at a lower level: This share has more than quintupled since the first survey in 2010. Around 300 thousand Swiss online users are already using Internet services via tablets & co. and this figure is likely to rise as the range of corresponding devices continues to grow.

The Net-Metrix-Mobile special report provides detailed basic information on mobile Internet use in Switzerland. To expand this data to include provider-specific mobile key figures, Net-Metrix will be offering a new independent mobile publication from fall 2011: Swiss providers of mobile offerings can have their mobile sites and apps measured and published in a standardized way. This will provide the Swiss online market with certified and comparable mobile usage data.

Last but not least: When "original" is neither good nor louder

The lower half of a woman in a tight red miniskirt can be seen on a delivery van. The slogan: "best meat in town". This is not a car in which prostitutes are driven from client to client. No, it is the car of a butcher's shop.

Oh dear, how bad, most viewers may think to themselves and perhaps think twice in future about buying their steak from the butcher's shop in question. However, experience shows that in such cases there is usually someone who takes the trouble to lodge a complaint with the Fairness Commission. This was also the case this time. For its part, the respondent argued that this was "modern, unusual advertising" and that the same type of advertising was used in other areas. But it did not get away with it: In the present case, there was obviously no natural connection between the advertising of animal meat and the "person embodying the female sex". In addition, the motif violated the dignity of women. The butcher's shop was asked to refrain from this type of advertising in future.

This example shows once again that supposedly original advertising does not necessarily have to be louder. And certainly not good. On the contrary. In any case, it is to be hoped that the company will adhere to the requirements of the Fair Advertising Commission - for its own benefit. Perhaps they have even saved a few Swiss francs that they can invest in the advice of a professional advertising agency?

KSB promotes Baz election subscription

The KSB agency has further developed a motif for the *Basler Zeitung* that is well known throughout Switzerland: the raised index finger, which draws attention to upcoming elections and referendums.

Read first, then talk. The slogan of the Basler Zeitung is of great value for the formation of political opinion, as KSB writes in a press release. Because only those who are well informed know their own interests and vote for the right representatives. That's why Baz has expanded its political coverage around the upcoming National Council and Council of States elections in Switzerland. New readers can enjoy a special election subscription with everything voters need to know.

The motif can be seen as a poster and advertisement throughout northwestern Switzerland.

Italy by Schuler - The Wine Newspaper

Profeta Kommunikation designed a mailing campaign for Schuler St. Jakobskellerei. The original idea behind it: In Italy, people enjoy reading the newspaper in a bar while sipping a fine espresso or in a trattoria while enjoying a glass of local wine.

A wine magazine in tabloid format with useful information about the wines and you soon feel like you're in Italy. Many customers know our southern neighboring country, but can't exactly identify the regions. So the agency. That's why the 8-page newspaper contains plenty of background information on the individual regions, including geographical maps. There is also information on the grape varieties, grapes and vinification. An ideal drinking recommendation for menus is of course also included.

The mailing was sent to existing customers with a 3-part boomerang card. This specific folded card with a competition on the front can be completed by customers on the back with wine orders and then automatically returned in the style of a direct response card. Standard information such as customer numbers and addresses are already imprinted.

Responsible at Profeta Communication: Eugen Profeta (consulting and concept), Claudia Schneiter (texts), Beni Kurz (image concept), Beni Kurz, Martin Zöller (layout/design). Responsible at Studiotextart: Conrad Müller (editing/proofreading). Responsible at Schuler St. Jakobskellerei: Robert Hoehn, Peter Delpechitra, Andreas Battistel, Lukas Häusermann.

Affichage bundles business activities under one brand

In future, Affichage will combine all business activities in Switzerland under the new corporate brand APG/SGA. The new brand identity is planned for January 2012.

The previous umbrella brand Affichage Holding will no longer be used in brand management for operational activities in Switzerland. However, it will remain valid for the time being for the needs of the listed holding company. This was stated by the Geneva-based advertising company in a press release on Monday.

All of the advertising marketer's segment brands, which previously operated independently on the market, will also be affected by the bundling. Bercher Publicité will therefore become APG/SGA Airport, Paron will become APG/SGA Mega Poster and APG Montagne will become APG/SGA Mountain.

Audience Council: Schawinski doesn't let guests talk enough

The Viewers' Council of SRG Deutschschweiz has criticized Roger Schawinski. The host of the SF program *Schawinski* does not give his guests enough opportunity to speak.

Schawinski hardly lets his guests speak and always keeps the upper hand. This was announced by the audience council on Tuesday. Roger Schawinski has been back as a presenter on Swiss television SF since August 22 after an interruption of more than 30 years. His show flickered Schawinski so far six times across the screens.

The audience council judged the high conversational tempo that the media pioneer had set in the first three broadcasts to be very strenuous. This had required the viewer's full concentration in each case. Although many topics were touched on, they were not discussed in depth.

The council also criticized the distribution of roles. Although Schawinski prepares himself extensively and intensively for his guests, he is "clearly the boss. The conversation therefore hardly takes place at eye level. The audience council would therefore like Schawinski to hold back more in the future and give the guests more space. Although a positive development in this direction was already recognizable after three broadcasts, the statement continues. In the medium term, the talk show could therefore develop into a valuable program.

So far, guests in the half-hour program have included private banker Konrad Hummler, globalization critic and former SP National Councilor Jean Ziegler, and SVP President Toni Brunner.
