Mitlinks moves to the Noerd

After the office space in a former telephone exchange at Escher-Wyss-Platz no longer met the agency's needs, Mitlinks spent a long time looking for suitable new premises. The agency moves to the Noerd office building.

In the end, the Noerd office building in Zurich Oerlikon was the most convincing. The agency wrote this in a press release on Friday. In addition to Aroma Productions and Freitag lab, Metallwerk Zürich and the agencies Ogilvy & Mather and JWT+H+F have also relocated to Noerd. There are also numerous smaller communications agencies and software companies.

Draftfcb/Lowe: On the run with the new Mini Coupé

To launch the new Mini Coupé, Draftfcb/Lowe has positioned the two-seater as an «escape car» from everyday life. The storytelling—centered on escape cars, accomplices, runaways, small tests of courage, and everyday adventures—runs consistently through all media.

The Mini leaves all pursuers behind with its taut handling and style, according to the motto of the campaign. The Mini Fan campaign kicks off with a mailing in the form of a secret file, which surprises the recipient with a personalized wanted poster, a passport and Mini Dollars. On posters, the dark key visuals of the new Mini Coupé and eye-catching typography are eye-catching. On wild posters, the story is continued with a manhunt for getaway drivers, and the public is linked directly to the new MINI Switzerland Facebook profile via a QR code, where the Mii Most Wanted Challenge awaits them.

Draftfcb/Lowe designed the Facebook application especially for the launch of the Mini Coupé in Switzerland. Players have the chance to move up the wanted list by taking part in a daily quiz and voting points from their friends. The main prize: a Mini Coupé for a year.

Every day for two working weeks, listeners are challenged to a small test of courage in ten radio spots. For example, they have to leave the office via a rope ladder - without getting caught, of course. At the Mini Partners, visitors can expect a staged crime scene with forensics and barrier tape around the supposed getaway car. Further online advertising media and a dedicated branding day on Bluewin complete the integrated campaign.
The entire campaign can be seen and heard from September 26, 2011.

Google Analytics expands market share

In the latest edition of the study "Web Analytics in Switzerland", Yourposition once again examines the use of web analytics tools on Swiss websites this year.

Yourposition identified a total of 784 installations of client-side web analytics tools on 899 websites. Compared to March 2010, Google Analytics has further expanded its market dominance, as the Swiss agency for search engine marketing and web analytics writes in a press release: Google's analysis tool is used on almost two thirds of all pages. According to the study, the proportion of sites without a tracking tool has decreased significantly compared to the previous year: Only around 20 percent of all website operators now completely dispense with client-side web analytics. The increase in Google Analytics in large Swiss companies is particularly significant: more than half of the top 100 Swiss companies use Google Analytics. As recently as March 2010, only 40 percent of these sites used Google's free tool. Obviously, companies' confidence in data quality and/or data protection is increasing.

Online stores are still the most likely to completely dispense with web analytics tools - even though, according to the report, they should have a particular interest in the evaluation and data-based optimization of their website: According to the study, almost a third of all online stores still do not use client-side web analytics at all.

Joiz: UPC Cablecom files appeal against ruling

The Federal Supreme Court has the final say on whether UPC Cablecom must include the youth television channel Joiz in its analog network. The cable network operator has filed an appeal against the ruling of the Federal Administrative Court.

The court had confirmed the decision of the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM), according to which UPC Cablecom had to include the channel in its basic analog service. Bakom had ruled that Joiz was of national cultural significance and made a special contribution to the national media landscape. It therefore granted the station so-called must-carry status. According to the Radio and Television Act, stations with this status must be broadcast on the analog cable network.

UPC Cablecom justified its appeal in a communiqué on Thursday, stating that the capacity of its television offering was limited. In order to be able to switch on Joiz, an established program would have to be removed from the offering.

Could become a landmark decision

The Federal Court's ruling could become a landmark decision, UPC-Cablecom spokesman Eric Zeller told the SDA news agency. "Should Joiz be proven right, other broadcasters would consider applying for must-carry status."

Joiz has been available on the digital network since March 28. The channel is aimed at teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 29. The program includes music and information shows as well as talk shows. (SDA)

Yelp rating platform comes to Switzerland

The American review platform Yelp has also been launched in Switzerland. This means that users in this country can also submit reviews about restaurants, stores, bars, museums, swimming pools or public authorities. Most of the reviews are currently in Zurich.

In total, Yelp exists in eleven countries and six languages. So far (as of June 2011), Yelp users have written more than 20 million reviews of businesses in their area, according to the homepage. Two-thirds of these have a rating of four or five stars. So it's not just rants on the review platform.

"We had around 63 million visitors in August," NZZ Online quoted European Yelp marketing chief Miriam Warren as saying on Thursday. A third of all search queries are carried out on the go from a cell phone or tablet computer, according to the homepage.

At the top of the ratings, restaurants (25 percent) are virtually tied with shopping (24 percent). That's followed by beauty and fitness (9 percent), ahead of arts, entertainment and events (8 percent) and local service providers (8 percent). (SDA)

VSGZ: Free newspapers celebrate

The beautiful late-summer weather and the magnificent view of Lake Zurich set a cheerful mood even before the event began, as more than 60 guests and members of the Association of Swiss Free Newspapers gathered at the Hotel Belvoir in Rüschlikon.

VSGZ President Thomas Akermann warmly welcomed the representatives of the communications industry, took a brief look at the beginnings of the free newspaper association and gave the floor to Vice President Jean-Marc Velleman, who greeted the participants from French-speaking Switzerland with Welsh charm. BSW President Peter Felser dared to look ahead by explaining in practical terms: "Why many things are changing, but also why many things remain the same. And why television and reading are gaining in importance." Ueli Custer used an entertaining look at the media revolution to explain that traditional media such as free newspapers will still be able to hold their own in the future. His observations, peppered with personal reminiscences, answered the question of where the journey will lead. National Councillor Filippo Leutenegger concluded with a plea for the liberal media industry, which today is squeezed between a less free market and increasing state regulation. Finally, at the aperitif riche in the Belvoir Saal, every guest had their say over food and drink. And all this in a good mood, which gave the anniversary event of the Swiss free newspapers a festive note.

Last but not least: Shower like a real man

Perfectly built men, water droplets rolling off smooth skin, a hint of lather skillfully massaged in by a strong, masculine hand—this is what it usually looks like, or something similar, when a men’s shower gel is advertised. Of course, these images do not reflect reality.

When the average man gets in the shower, things are very different from the boring, unrealistic commercials - he washes himself the way a real man should. With all the trimmings. A commercial advertising the Norwegian shower gel Asan Triple has recognized and implemented exactly this. The result is a bit disgusting, but at the same time ruthlessly honest and therefore somehow charming.
