The advertising firm wins new customers

The Zurich advertising agency Die Werbekanzlei has won the budget for the relaunch of the Zurich Dance and Theater School ZTTS and the Colombo Dance Factory CDF. The new appearance of ZTTS and CDF will be contemporary and international.

For this project, the advertising agency is focusing on uniformity, recognition and appealing layout with high demands on the new imagery. To give the schools the appropriate visual face, one photo and one film shoot each will be produced to reflect the emotions of dancing, the agency said in a statement.

In the future, the web pages will become the main communication platform. A blog-like structure is deliberately chosen to give priority to current events and shows and the latest offers. Aesthetically, the design approaches the world of dancing. The site is intended to be classically beautiful with a playful lightness so that usability is always maintained. Flyers, brochures and timetables will be more compact in the future and are visually strongly based on the schools' digital presence.

The first results will be seen in November.

Last but not least: "The media are not the police's helpers"

According to the president of the Press Council, newspapers should not publish photos in which the faces of hooligans are clearly recognizable. Such a course of action is not part of the press’s responsibilities.

This was triggered by a picture of a suspected FCZ hooligan published in Blick on Tuesday. He is said to have thrown petards into the GC fan sector during the Zurich derby between the Grasshoppers and FCZ on Sunday. However, the President of the Press Council, Dominique von Burg, does not condone such an approach. As a matter of principle, the media are no helpers of the police, he said in response to an inquiry from the SDA news agency. It is only justifiable to print recognizable faces if there is an acute danger. Such a situation would be a terrorist attack, for example.

While von Burg does not approve of the printing of such images, pictures of wanted men are published online. Last August, for example, FCZ itself published pictures of two wanted men on the internet for a few days, who were alleged to have thrown firecrackers at Letzigrund stadium last May. The photos were published on the club's website - at the express request of FCZ president Ancillo Canepa. This action was described as problematic by data protection experts and Canepa took responsibility. Meanwhile, the police posted pictures of 16 allegedly violent FC Basel fans online. After all other investigative efforts were unsuccessful, the public prosecutor's office ordered the publication.

TBWA\Zurich wins FWA Mobile Award

Last Saturday, SBB Jumpidoo was awarded the FWA Mobile Award by the Internet Award program and inspiration portal FWA. TBWA\Zurich designed the game app for smartphones to complement the range of games offered by Ticki Park, SBB's children's program.

Three colorful game worlds were created in the look of Ticki Park. During fifteen levels, the player dives into an adventurous jungle landscape, discovers exotic jungles, mysterious water worlds and bubbling lava caves. Like Tarzan, the character swings from vine to vine, overcoming various obstacles and dangers and always keeping an eye on the time. Since the best times per level are saved, the game offers entertainment for several players.

Online newspaper planned for Central Switzerland

A new online newspaper is set to launch in Central Switzerland. The goal is to provide quality journalism on local and regional topics. The launch date has not yet been set.

M.M.V (Meinungen.Medien.Vielfalt ) is behind the project. Chairman of the board Nick Mijnssen confirmed a corresponding report of the NZZ am Sonntag on Tuesday, according to SDA. The project arose from dissatisfaction with the dominant newspaper in Central Switzerland, the Neue Luzerner Zeitung.

He is currently looking for staff for the online newspaper. Mijnssen envisions a politically independent editorial team with three to four editors. The start date is still open. Mijnssen would prefer to start this year, but the quality of the product is more important than a quick start. The newspaper is to be published from the end of October as an online newspaper on the one hand and as a printed weekly newspaper on the other. Mijnssen does not want to rule out a collaboration with the Tageswoche project in Basel, but it remains to be seen whether there is any interest there.

Nick Mijnssen, heir to the Zug-based industrial group Landis + Gyr, wants to finance the Central Switzerland project in the initial phase. However, a role as a patron like that of Roche heiress Beatrice Oeri at Tageswoche is not envisaged. The board of directors of M.M.V. is the trustee Beat Bachmann. His brother, media consultant Ivo Bachmann, is chairman of the board of Neue Medien Basel, which publishes the Tageswoche.

Best Global Brands 2011: Coca-Cola remains the world's most valuable brand

For the 11th consecutive year, Interbrand has released its ranking of the world's 100 most valuable brands. Coca-Cola remains the world's most valuable brand, while Nescafé is the most valuable Swiss brand.

The leading group of the top 10 is more stable than ever this year and remains almost unchanged in its composition, apart from the departure of the last European brand - Nokia - from the elite group and Apple's advance to eighth place. The number one is and remains Coca-Cola. The beverage manufacturer's brand value amounts to 71.86 billion US dollars. As in the previous year, the American computer manufacturer IBM and the software company Microsoft ranked second and third.

The 100 most important brands increased in value again last year. Their total value rose by 4.6 percent compared to the previous year to around 1.26 trillion US dollars. In the crisis year 2009, the total value of all brands in the ranking fell by 4.6 percent for the first time in the history of the Best Global Brands. In 2010, the Best Global Brands reached the same level as before the crisis.

Nescafé most valuable Swiss brand

As in the previous year, five Swiss brands made it into the top 100. The total brand value of the five Swiss brands amounted to 30.39 billion US dollars. The most valuable Swiss brand in 2011 is once again Nescafé in 30th place with a value of 12.12 billion US dollars. With a value increase of one percent, Nestlé was able to move up two places to become the second most valuable brand in Switzerland. The food manufacturer ranks 55th with a value of 6.61 billion US dollars. UBS fell six places to 92nd place with a brand value of 3.8 billion US dollars. Credit Suisse and Zurich, the two Swiss newcomers in 2010, held their own and both increased their brand value. Credit Suisse ranks 82nd with a brand value of 4.1 billion US dollars, while Zurich has increased its brand value by eight percent and ranks 94th with 3.77 billion US dollars.

Technology brands continue to dominate in 2011

In the past year, technology brands were able to further expand their sector-related growth and continue to gain ground on traditional consumer goods brands in the ranking of the 100 most valuable brands in the world. Six of the top 10 brands (IBM (rank 2), Microsoft (rank 3), Google (rank 4), Intel (rank 7), Apple (rank 8) and Hewlett-Packard (rank 10)), four of the five fastest growing brands (Apple, Amazon.com, Google and Samsung) and one of the new entrants (HTC) are technology brands. Despite the dominance of technology brands, other sectors also achieved strong value growth in the 2011 ranking of the Best Global Brands: insurance companies and luxury goods companies made substantial year-on-year gains and the automotive industry is also characterized by extraordinary growth.

Winners, losers and new additions

Alongside Apple and Amazon, Google, Samsung and Burberry are among the winners of this year's ranking. Apple recorded a sensational 58% increase in brand value and stormed into the top 10. Amazon moved up ten places from 36th to 26th place with the second strongest increase in brand value (+32%). Google took third place in the group of rising stars. The internet company recorded an increase in value of 27% and maintained its fourth place. Samsung is the fourth technology brand to be among the winners in this year's ranking. The brand increased in value by 20 percent and is ranked 17th in the top 20 with a brand value of 23.43 billion US dollars. Burberry breaks through the phalanx of technology brands and, with its 20 percent increase in value, is also one of the winners in this year's ranking of the Best Global Brands 2011.

Among the losers in 2011 were Nokia (-15%), Nintendo (-14%), Sony (-13%), Yahoo (-11%) and Dell (-6%). All suffered a not insignificant loss in brand value.

Three brands make their debut in 2011 - the best newcomer in 2011 is Nissan. The Japanese automotive brand ranks 90th with a brand value of 3.82 billion US dollars. John Deere enters the ranking in 97th place with a brand value of 3.65 billion US dollars. HTC is the first Taiwanese brand to make it into the top 100 with a brand value of 3.61 billion US dollars.
