As of January 1, 2012, children's magazines will be checked for possible advertising placements, according to a statement. In addition to analyzing TV commercials, the external monitoring now also includes children's magazines. Eleven Swiss food manufacturers voluntarily refrain from food advertising aimed at children under 12 if the products do not meet defined nutritional profiles. These were determined on the basis of recognized
Nutrition recommendations and national and international nutrition guidelines created.

Currently, the following companies are actively participating in the program: Coca-Cola, Danone, Intersnack, Kellogg, Kraft Foods, Mars, Nestlé, Pepsi Co, Procter & Gamble, Unilever and Zweifel Pomy-Chips. The voluntary initiative is open to additional market participants who commit to meeting the minimum criteria.

RTL Group: More profit thanks to higher advertising revenues

Higher advertising revenues have boosted profits at RTL Group, Europe's largest television group. Operating profit rose by 8 percent to 144 million euros in the third quarter of 2011.

This was announced by the Bertelsmann subsidiary on Wednesday, according to SDA. Business was particularly good in Germany, France and the Netherlands, as well as at the production subsidiary Fremantle Media. Revenues increased by 7 percent to 1.24 billion euros.

Cable networks: Growth in all digital services

Cable networks in Switzerland continued to see growth across all digital services in the third quarter of this year. Compared to the same period last year, digital cable TV grew by 42 percent, cable internet by 10 percent, and cable telephony by 21 percent.

The trend towards digital cable television continues unabated, as Swisscable writes in a press release on Wednesday. The Swiss cable networks were able to gain almost 300,00 customers within a year (+42 percent). In total, around 1,014,800 households were using digital cable television at the end of September 2011. The nationwide penetration of digital TV on cable was therefore just under 36%. "One important reason for this growth is certainly the fact that switching to digital cable TV is very easy today," says Claudia Bolla-Vincenz, Managing Director of Swisscable, commenting on the figures. "The basic digital offer is free and can be received with newer TV sets without additional equipment."

The cable networks also grew in the cable internet sector: Compared to the previous year, almost 80,000 customers (+10%) were gained. Cable telephony also grew at practically the same rate, with more than 468,000 households now using cable telephony (+81,200).

Zürichsee Werbe AG expands portfolio

Zürichsee Werbe AG, a subsidiary of Zürichsee Medien based in Stäfa, will now handle advertising sales for the two publications *Schweizer Arbeitgeber* and *Werkspuren*.

Der Schweizer Arbeitgeber is the magazine of the Swiss Employers' Association, which represents 100,000 companies with around one million employees. Now in its 107th year, it is published 12 times a year with a circulation of 3,770 copies and has the "Q-Publication" seal of approval.

According to the press release, Werkspuren is the only specialist journal in Switzerland that deals exclusively with the specialist area of works. It is published four times a year with a circulation of 1,500 copies. Thanks to its many years of supporting magazines in the fields of crafts, design and education, Zürichsee Werbe AG is able to make optimum use of existing synergies.

Last but not least: Really strong, Swiss wood!

The newly founded Holz Marketing Association aims to help domestic wood gain a professional profile and promote public support for local wood products. It remains to be seen whether the planned measures will succeed in achieving this.

For example, the music CD "Schweizer Holz, das isch Musig" is intended to contribute to the good image of the raw material. The "Schwingen gegen Kilian Wenger" app and a comic book are further marketing measures that Holz Schweiz Marketing hopes will have a positive impact on the reputation of wood in Swiss society. Kilian Wenger, himself the reigning wrestling king, is also an ambassador for the association. Who, according to Holz Marketing Schweiz, ultimately became king on Swiss wood - sawdust. And who completed a second apprenticeship as a carpenter. It doesn't get any woodier than that. A poster campaign with Wenger is also being planned. The subjects that adorn the press release make you curious to see the result. Somehow. Traditional Swiss people such as wrestlers, yodelers and Alpöhis will certainly continue to count wood among their favorite raw materials. Whether the marketing offensive will also reach the rest of the population, we will leave open at this point. It would certainly be desirable.

Swisscom with declining revenue and earnings

In the first nine months of 2011, Swisscom’s net revenue fell by 4.9 percent to 8,538 million Swiss francs, and operating profit (EBITDA) declined by 0.7 percent to 3,520 million Swiss francs.

The price erosion of CHF 438 million in the Swiss core business could not be offset by customer and volume growth of CHF 343 million, as Swisscom writes in a press release on Wednesday. On a constant currency basis and adjusted for special effects at Fastweb, revenue was down 2.6 percent and EBITDA 3.9 percent on the previous year.

The net revenue of the Italian subsidiary Fastweb fell by 7.8% to EUR 1,295 million in local currency due to aggressive price competition, according to the statement. Swisscom's revenue excluding Fastweb fell by 1.2 percent to CHF 6,946. The 8.4% increase in net profit to CHF 1,528 million is due to a provision recognized in the previous year in the VAT proceedings against Fastweb and income recognized in the third quarter of 2011 that Fastweb will receive as a one-off payment for the settlement of a legal dispute.

The Group's investments rose by 14.8% to CHF 1,465 million, mainly due to increased investments in new generation networks in Switzerland. The 2.7% increase in headcount to 20,032 is attributable to increased customer service, accelerated network expansion and company acquisitions. Around 400 new full-time positions were created in Switzerland. The financial outlook for the 2011 financial year remains unchanged. Swisscom continues to expect a dividend payout of at least CHF 21 per share for 2011.

Plan.Net Suisse launches campaign for Fine Food

Plan.Net Suisse is currently launching a broad-based and multifaceted campaign for Fine Food, in which Coop’s Fine Food premium brand is set to set new standards online with exceptional advertising materials.

In addition to standard banners on various portals, special moving image productions and a completely new format for Swiss news portals, the "floor ad," are used. The testimonial is once again celebrity chef Ivo Adam, with whom users can interact directly - he even talks to them. He does this by means of audio messages. Based on the idea of the TV commercial, in which Adam has a car breakdown and gives cooking instructions to his friends at home by cell phone, special audio messages were recorded under the slogan "Ivo is calling". This integrated campaign aims to directly involve visitors to the website, address them on a personal level, and thus confront them more intensively with fine food, explains Yvan Piccinno, Partner and Managing Director of the digital agency Plan.Net Suisse.

The new campaign under the claim "For special moments" will also set new standards with a new banner format never before seen on Swiss news portals, the "floor ad. This is a banner that is displayed across the entire width of the lower part of the screen and can be seen on the 20min.ch portal. Standard banners and various special moving image productions will also be displayed on Tagesanzeiger.ch, Bernerzeitung.ch and Baslerzeitung.ch, as well as in Coop's own media Coop.ch, Coopzeitung.ch and the Coop Newsletter.

The campaign, developed by Plan.Net in German, French and Italian, also includes a competition: Ivo Adam presents the recipe from the TV commercial, but additionally gives secret tips and asks website visitors questions via audio messages. If they answer correctly, which can be done via an online entry mask, they can win vouchers for the top chef's restaurant in Ascona. Participants can also recommend the website to friends, for which they will receive a ten percent discount voucher for their next fine food purchase at the supermarket.

The campaign starts on November 7, but a foretaste is already available at Coop.ch/finefood.

Responsible at Plan.Net Suisse: Yvan Piccinno (Managing Director, Partner) and Kevin Hansen (Account Director), Norbert Rieger (Art Director), Michael Geisser (Senior Web Developer), Kerstin Dittmar (Team Leader Media). Responsible at Coop: Micheal Bietenhader (Head of Digital Advertising, CRM, Direct Marketing), Oliver Johnson (Head of Digital Advertising).
