Trio: Exclusives like from the assembly line

In the latest campaign for «Le Galetas,» the secondhand store run by the Centre social protestant, Trio parodies an advertisement for a well-known furniture chain.

The product items are advertised with Swedish-sounding names made up of French puns - "Perlörår" (rare pearl), "Kudekör" (jewel) or "Lejåndär" (legend). In addition, the promotion-like presentation and the fact-based list of "product benefits" are intended to remind people of the blue and yellow furniture giant. Through this confusion, the concept is intended to emphasize the unique character of Galetas furniture in contrast to the assembly line products of the wholesaler.

The campaign advertises Galeta's furniture on public transport in various cities in western Switzerland.

Press Council reprimands Bote der Urschweiz and 20 Minutes

The free newspaper 20 Minutes, based in French-speaking Switzerland, received a reprimand from the Swiss Press Council. In addition, the Press Council partially upheld a complaint filed by a Schwyz prosecutor against the Boten der Urschweiz.

The messenger had indirectly suspected the public prosecutor of indiscretion, but had not consulted him as required. This is what the Press Council wrote in its decision published on Tuesday. One of the public prosecutors approached the Press Council and criticized the fact that he was not questioned about the central statement that he was part of a rope team for committing indiscretions. The editors objected that they had not directly or indirectly accused anyone of indiscretion. However, it was not allowed to conceal the fact that there was a rope team. This was relevant for the public.

On July 15, the Bote der Urschweiz reported on the conflict between the Schwyz public prosecutor's office and the cantonal courts under the title "Schwyz judicial dispute escalates". It also concerned criticism of the president of the cantonal court in connection with the release of a child molester. The messenger raised the question of whether this was a "tit-for-tat response to the cantonal court's criticism" of the public prosecutors in another case. As the messenger wrote, this could not be proven, but certain rope teams could be identified. Two public prosecutors were mentioned by name.

The Press Council is of the opinion that the messenger, as he named people as possible authors of an indiscretion, should have heard them out. Anyone who again hints at indiscretions in a heated judicial climate in which indiscretions have already been committed is making a serious accusation. The editorial team should therefore have questioned the public prosecutor.

20 Minutes reprimanded for unfair undercover research
The free newspaper 20 Minutes in French-speaking Switzerland also received a reprimand from the Swiss Press Council. In a report on the homosexual tendencies of a teacher and member of the Geneva city parliament, the newspaper had resorted to dishonest, undercover research.

According to the newspaper report from the end of April 2011, the person concerned had made advances to a 15-year-old teenager via a gay website. Behind the alleged teenager was an undercover employee of 20 Minuten. According to SDA, the teacher was suspended at the time of publication due to ongoing administrative proceedings against him. 20 Minutes illustrated the article with a screenshot of the website showing an excerpt from the chat and a pixelated photo of the teacher and politician.

According to its decision published on Tuesday, the Press Council considers it unfair within the meaning of point 4 of the "Declaration of the Duties and Rights of Journalists" to actively lure an already suspended teacher via a gay website in this way. He points out that undercover research is only permissible in exceptional cases and under strict conditions. For an invasion of privacy, an overriding public interest in the information is required, which moreover cannot be obtained in any other way. In the opinion of the Press Council, in this specific case there is not merely a lack of overriding public interest in the research. In particular, 20 Minuten should have refrained from publication based on the principle of proportionality, as the suspended teacher had already announced his retirement from politics at the time of publication. In addition, 20 Minutes had also violated clauses 3 (concealment of important information) and 7 (respect for privacy) of the "Declaration of Duties and Rights of Journalists". The author of the report failed to mention a passage from the chat that would have put the accusations into perspective.

Jung von Matt/Limmat designs new campaign for SI Style

The campaign focuses not on the stars, but on their clothes and accessories. The usual paparazzi pictures for celebrity magazines can be seen. The difference is that only the selected item of clothing is clearly visible. The rest of the image is heavily rasterized, which is intended to give the campaign a visually independent character and establish a link to a print medium.

New creative forge in Baden: Agency added value

Baden has gained a new agency: In early September, André Laubacher and Raphaël Surber launched Mehrwert, a creative agency specializing in conscious marketing.

Conscious marketing? "Basically, it's about sustainable marketing, but we only use this word very sparingly and in a controlled manner because many people immediately think of ecomarketing when they think of sustainability. However, our ideas should above all be economically and socially sustainable for our customers," say the two founders and Managing Partners. Conscious marketing therefore means that customer relationships as well as value chains and personal and natural resources are used in a way that is not exploitative. The agency sees this approach as the only long-term option for achieving lasting success in a constantly changing competitive environment.

The agency's portfolio primarily includes service, industrial and commercial companies. André Laubacher and Raphaël Surber support these companies together with a broad network of experienced specialists and freelancers. The agency sees itself as a full-service agency "without all the fuss." "We love online just as much as offline - but we still dare to analyze the customer's needs precisely. And just because someone asks for a Facebook campaign doesn't mean that they wouldn't be better off with a traditional campaign," the two founders continue.

New Group CEO at Swiss Post: Jürg Bucher is succeeded by Susanne Ruoff

The Board of Directors of Swiss Post has appointed Susanne Ruoff as the new CEO. The economist will succeed Jürg Bucher as head of Swiss Post effective September 1, 2012.

With Susanne Ruoff, a manager with extensive experience in major international companies is taking over the management of Swiss Post. Thanks to her many years in management positions at IBM and most recently as CEO of BT Switzerland (British Telecom), she will be able to strengthen Swiss Post's Group management, particularly with her expertise in the digital world. Swiss Post said this in a press release on Tuesday.

Prior to BT (British Telecom), Susanne Ruoff held various management positions at IBM Switzerland in the areas of marketing, sales and services business. As head of the public administrations business unit, she was able to establish close contact with the federal government and the administration. At the end of her twenty-year tenure at IBM Switzerland, she was a member of the Executive Board and responsible for Global Technology Services.

In the coming years, customers will increasingly demand electronic services, Swiss Post added in its statement. Swiss Post intends to continue its strategy of linking the physical world of postal services with the electronic world in a targeted manner. With her competencies, Susanne Ruoff will actively support this change. In her activities in multinational companies, she has also gained broad experience with different cultures and mentalities, a factor that played an important role in her selection.

Susanne Ruoff holds a degree in Economics and an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Telecommunications from the University of Fribourg. She holds a Client Executive degree from INSEAD (France) and completed a continuing education course on "Corporate Governance in Executive Boards" at HSG St. Gallen.

Finally a woman at the top of the Post
Syndicom, the media and communications union, is pleased that the Board of Directors of Swiss Post has appointed Susanne Ruoff as the new head of the yellow giant. In view of the still far too great inequality - for example in the area of wages - between women and men in our country, it is pleased that a public company of such importance is finally being led by a woman, Syndicom said in a statement. The union sees this decision as an important signal in the right direction.

It also aimed to bring them together with industry experts and encourage them to take part in the SDV Junior Award.

Non-smoking experiment deals with tobacco advertising

Around 3,000 school classes from all parts of the country are now embarking on the non-smoking experiment. The young people are also confronting the tobacco industry's advertising campaigns.

The tobacco industry is increasingly using cigarette packaging for advertising purposes. This was reported by the Working Group for Tobacco Prevention in a communiqué on Tuesday. Especially among young people, advertising campaigns around the packaging increase cigarette consumption. The tobacco industry therefore rejects all demands that cigarettes should only be sold in neutral packaging without advertising.

Experiment Non-Smoking is a competition for 6th to 9th grade classes. The Non-Smoking Experiment gives pupils the opportunity to take a closer look at the tobacco companies' advertising campaigns. But the risks of tobacco consumption, such as nicotine addiction, are also important topics. The Tobacco Prevention Working Group organizes the competition together with the cantonal tobacco and addiction prevention offices and the cantonal cancer and lung leagues. Experiment Nichtrauchen is financed by the Tobacco Prevention Fund.
