Radio 105 launches on DAB+

Starting today at 12:00 p.m., Radio 105 will be available throughout German-speaking Switzerland via DAB+ digital radio. This means that Radio 105 can be received on the go (including in cars) from Zurich to Bern, from Lucerne to Basel, and as far as St. Gallen or Chur.

Radio 105 can massively expand its broadcast area with distribution via DAB+, the station said in a statement. For 105 managing director Giuseppe Scaglione, this marks the beginning of a new era: "It has always been my dream to operate a radio station that can also be received on mobile devices throughout German-speaking Switzerland."

To date, around 800,000 DAB devices have been sold in Switzerland. A large increase in sales figures is expected for the next few years. It is assumed that around 3 million devices will be on the market by 2015. In German-speaking Switzerland, more than 25 stations are already on the air via DAB+, including some that have no place on FM - such as DRS4 News, Radio Eviva and DRS Musikwelle.

Tunisian journalist honored with democracy prize

Tunisian journalist Sihem Bensedrine is the recipient of the 2011 Ibn Rushd Prize. She received the award, which comes with a prize of 2,500 euros, for her commitment to democracy and freedom of expression in Tunisia.

The German-based Ibn Rushd Fund for Free Thought has been awarding this prize since 1998 and is committed to the democratization of the Arab world. As the foundation announced before the award ceremony in Berlin on Friday, Bensedrine has been committed to this cause for decades. According to SDA, she had operated an educational website despite being banned and blocked. The journalist was forced into temporary exile due to threats to her life, but returned to her home country after the Tunisian revolution began in early 2011.

Rembrand makes Migros training centers fit

Migros Ostschweiz recently opened its first MFIT in Chur. The St. Gallen-based agency Rembrand developed the corporate design for the Migros training center.

In line with the positioning, two elements dominate the corporate design. Firstly, the orange M, which clearly shows the affiliation to the Migros Group and at the same time conveys the corresponding promise of quality. Secondly, it is the visual language, which conveys the positioning as a medical training center by reducing it to the essentials. The focus is on people and their health, not on equipment or rooms, the agency said in a statement on Friday.

Rembrand created the entire appearance, starting with the logo and claim, T-shirts with the "I'm fit" print, through to all the lettering, banners, printed matter and a poster campaign.

Metzgerlehner: Help for parents in need

The Metzgerlehner Agency has redesigned the visual identity of Elternnotruf and developed a campaign for the organization. The communication focuses on the typical aggression that arises in conflict situations—both verbal and visual.

Concise headlines are intended to appeal to the target groups with statements that they know from their own experience. Speech bubbles in pop art comic style support the corresponding despair and anger and give the Elternnotruf a new look, the agency said in a press release. The association was previously active in the cantons of Zurich, Zug and Aargau. Recently, parents from the canton of Bern have also been able to make use of the emergency call. The headlines of the campaign have been adapted in dialect for this purpose.

Responsible at Elternnotruf: Peter Sumpf (Managing Director). Responsible at Metzgerlehner Worldwide Partners: Patrick Meyer (Creative Direction), Gabriella Flury (Art Direction), Katja-Louisa Kurzweck, Tiziano Autera (Graphic Design), Silvan Metzger and Anna-Lea Michael (Consulting).

NZZ switches to Jung von Matt/Limmat

Starting in 2012, the NZZ Media Group’s Zurich Media Division will be handled by the Zurich-based agency Jung von Matt / Limmat for its marketing communications. The account covers the entire portfolio, including the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the NZZ am Sonntag, the NZZ-Folio magazine, and the digital offerings.

Jung von Matt / Limmat replaces Publicis, which has been working for NZZ's printed and digital products since 1995 and created the multi-award-winning campaign with the blue pencil for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, among others. The agency was not chosen as part of a pitch process, but through targeted selection. The NZZ wrote this in a press release on Friday. "We decided to go down this path with a new agency due to the complete realignment of our communications," says Marius Hagger, Head of NZZ Publishing.

Last but not least: the erotic touch sells - usually anyway

A little bit of eroticism and a little bit of speed - that should sell the Fiat 500 Abarth model well in the USA. Or so the Italian car manufacturer thought. Wrong thinking.

A shy man in a business look, a racy lady in a fluttering skirt, a black Abarth. And a touch of eroticism. But really just a hint. But in the United States, the commercial is not at all popular - on the contrary, they don't want it to flicker across their screens. The Americans are - how could it be otherwise - bothered by the eroticism: they fear protests from religious groups if it is broadcast. Well, we understand - that look with which the woman looks at the man - outrageous! And then that cappuccino foam: So no! How can you!

Incidentally, people in Australia are not enthusiastic about the spot either: they are not so much afraid of the fluttering rock as they are of the speed at which the car races away at the end of the spot - this could be interpreted as an invitation to risky driving.

Seed: Animation film realized for Geberit

Geberit was awarded the German Logistics Prize 2011 for its radical overhaul of its corporate logistics. Seed produced the film about it.

Until 2005, logistics at Geberit was little more than an appendage of production, writes Seed in a statement. This has now been recognized. In an exemplary process, the company has transformed its logistics into an important Group function. For this, Geberit was awarded the German Logistics Prize 2011.

Seed has summarized the restructuring of the Group's logistics in an animated film. The film had its premiere at the award ceremony in Berlin in front of more than 3,000 guests. In the role of general contractor, Seed developed the concept, wrote the script and realized the film in collaboration with the animation specialists from Boutiq.

Rheintal and Flawil printing company found subsidiary

The publishers of the daily newspapers Der Rheintaler, Rheintalische Volkszeitung and Wiler Zeitung are founding a joint subsidiary. The aim is to strengthen the printing and publishing business and to expand the online business.

The operational business units printing, specialist publishing and online will be merged, Rheintaler Druckerei und Verlag AG (RDV) and Druckerei Flawil AG (dfmedia) wrote in a joint communiqué on Thursday. The newspaper editorial offices will remain at the parent companies. The consolidation of the printing and finishing machines at one location is necessary in order to remain competitive in the long term. Individual jobs will be lost in the short term. However, the reduction will be achieved through natural fluctuations and early retirements, the press release continues. In the long term, the new company, which employs 250 people, intends to create new jobs. The online business in particular will be expanded and repositioned on the market. (SDA)
