SFLB: Sihlcity gives the gift of relaxed Christmas shopping

The SFLB agency has launched a new campaign for Sihlcity. The campaign promotes free services designed to make Christmas shopping a stress-free experience.

Christmas can sometimes be quite stressful, the agency said in a press release. Sihlcity offers many different services to make shopping stress-free. These include, for example, personal shoppers, free childcare and a home delivery service. SFLB used three posters and prints to show that these services are welcome gifts. The relaxed Christmas shopping in Sihlcity is also communicated on the radio - without destroying the children's faith in the Christ Child.

Federal Council: State Trojans should be permitted to a "limited extent"

The police are to be allowed to use software to monitor computers in criminal proceedings. The Federal Council made this decision on Wednesday. However, the use of so-called «government Trojans» is to be limited to the monitoring of Internet telephony and email.

According to the Federal Council, the more extensive use of software that is secretly introduced into computers would not be permitted. This includes, for example, searching computers or manipulating microphones to turn them into bugging devices, as the Federal Department of Police and Justice (FDJP) announced on Wednesday. The encrypted communication of suspects via Internet telephone services such as Skype can only be monitored with the controversial programs. Surveillance is only permitted for certain offenses for which undercover investigations are also permitted. It must also be approved by a court.

Until now, the legal situation regarding the use of surveillance software was considered controversial. According to information from August, the technology has been used four times so far. The deployments only came to light when a controversy arose in Germany about Trojans used there. The German company in question stated that it had also supplied the software to Switzerland.

The consultation on the revision of the Postal and Telecommunications Surveillance Act (BÜPF) ended a year ago in the summer. At the time, the political parties and IT industry associations hardly had a good word to say about the draft: they criticized the use of Trojans, the longer data storage period and the planned assumption of costs by private providers with varying degrees of vehemence. The FDJP went on to say that this was a decision by the Federal Council. The FDJP will now prepare a dispatch for parliament.

At the same time, however, the Federal Council also decided to amend the Ordinance to the Act (VÜPF) as early as January 1. This is intended to specify which surveillance methods the prosecution authorities will be allowed to use in the near future. In doing so, the government backtracked on its draft from the summer. Only providers who offer Internet access are to be obliged to enable surveillance, but not providers of chat and community services such as Facebook. (SDA)

Namics: Two stores merged for Friday

Namics is relaunching the e-commerce platform operated under Freitag.ch. The «Fundamentals» line and the «Reference Collection» were consolidated onto a unified technical platform over the course of four months.

Freitag, the manufacturer of bags and accessories made from used truck tarpaulins, previously operated two different online stores: one for the classic "Fundamentals" range and one for the "Reference Collection", which Namics had already implemented in 2010. The separation allowed little flexibility for brand communication, which is crucial for conversion at Freitag, the agency said in a press release. In addition, Freitag has always had a problem, just as with offline sales: because the bags are made from used tarpaulins, each product is unique and has to be photographed and inventoried individually. The new online store is designed to offer customers a clear product presentation that shows each unique item with detailed product information and illustrates the most important product features with an original stop-motion video. Namics realized the new platform in collaboration with Information Architects, who are responsible for the concept and design.

Eclat will emphasize the image aspect of the medium, develop the design and create the content together with Sanitas.

Swiss Post acquires Epsilon shares from Edipresse

Swiss Post is acquiring Edipresse Suisse's 34-percent stake in Epsilon, the joint early-delivery and advertising distribution company in French-speaking Switzerland.

As a result, Swiss Post now holds 100 percent of the share capital of Epsilon as of December 14, 2011, according to a joint statement from Swiss Post and Tamedia. With the sale of their stake in Epsilon, Edipresse Suisse and Tamedia intend to focus on their core business with high-reach newspapers, magazines and online media. Swiss Post, in turn, is strengthening its position in the early delivery of newspapers and the delivery of unaddressed items. For the time being, Epsilon will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss Post. This will have no immediate impact on staff or customers.

At the same time as the sale, Tamedia and Swiss Post have renewed their distribution agreements for the early delivery of daily and weekly newspapers in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland. Edipresse Suisse and Tamedia will remain affiliated with Swiss Post's two early delivery organizations, Epsilon and Presto, according to the announcement, and will be represented on the boards of both companies by Andreas Schaffner, who is responsible for publishing services on Tamedia's management board. The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the sale.

The radio studio will be integrated into the Zofinger Tagblatt AG media building. The exact relocation date has not yet been set. Radio Inside went on air at the end of March 2009. The founder and previous owner and program director is David Kaufmann.

Charles Vögele with new management structure and adjusted brand strategy

Charles Vögele's Executive Management and Board of Directors have redefined the structure of the Executive Management and adopted a revised brand strategy.

The current Group Management since mid-September 2011, consisting of CEO Frank Beeck and CFO Markus Voegeli, is to be supplemented in future by a COO (Chief Operating Officer) and a CCO (Chief Commercial Officer), as the company announced on Wednesday. The role of CCO will be held by CEO Frank Beeck until further notice. The area comprises product development and sales, including the corresponding marketing activities. The COO's area of responsibility includes planning, procurement of merchandise and logistics. The search for a COO has been initiated.

In order to ensure the best possible continuity in management, Hans Ziegler supported Group Management after the change in the operational management of the company. In future, Hans Ziegler will concentrate on his duties as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Charles Vögele Holding. The Board of Directors is thus returning to its original management mode.

Realignment of the Charles Vögele brand

Another measure concerns the clear positioning and orientation of the Charles Vögele brand. "If we want to survive in today's environment, the company must position itself even more clearly in the market and sharpen its profile. The three existing main brands Casa Blanca, Biaggini and Kingfield are not sufficiently differentiated from each other in terms of consumer behavior," says Frank Beeck. For this reason, Group Management will in future focus on the strong Charles Vögele umbrella brand and dispense with the Casa Blanca, Biaggini and Kingfield own brands. All collections will be marketed under the Charles Vögele brand.

The challenging economic environment, the strong Swiss franc - which also had a negative impact on the second half of the year - and the unusually warm autumn have had an inhibiting effect on Charles Vögele Group's sales in recent months, as the press release explains further. In addition, there were logistics problems in connection with the commissioning of the Southern Distribution Center and its integration into the process organization. Due to these negative factors, the company's management now expects a significant deterioration in the operating result in the second half of the current financial year compared to the first half of 2011. With regard to the syndicated loan that expires in June 2012, the company's management is currently in talks with a small group of partner banks. The new agreement is intended to replace the existing loans and secure the Group's financial flexibility.

Swiss Online Marketing expands

The Swiss trade show for online marketing is expanding—not only in terms of space but also in terms of content: With its move to Messe Zürich, Swiss Online Marketing 2012 now has three times as much exhibition space.

The fourth Swiss Online Marketing is moving from Puls 5 to Halls 9.1 and 9.2 at Messe Zürich. The organizer is also using the new space to designate a special area for e-commerce. "There is no dedicated trade fair for this sector in Switzerland," says Helge Röhrig. The exhibition at the old location was already bursting at the seams. Last year, the trade fair recorded 70 exhibitors and 1,955 trade visitors; it can now develop freely at Messe Zürich. The number of exhibitors is already higher than last year. Last but not least, a number of major new exhibitors have already been acquired, including Google Switzerland, Tamedia, United Internet, Publimedia and Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

According to the press release, the two keynote speeches are among the highlights of the program: Christian Erhard, Head of Online Partnership Management at eBay International Marketing in Zurich, will speak about innovations in e-commerce, focusing in particular on the booming mobile shopping market. With Pedro Simko, Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi Switzerland and Client Director for Europe, the Middle East & Africa, Swiss Online Marketing has also secured the services of a renowned marketing strategist as a keynote speaker.

Ruf Lanz: Campaign for Ecopool realized

The Ruf Lanz agency has developed a campaign for Ökopool, the combined publication of the three titles Woz, Nebelspalter, and Hochparterre.

Ecopool reaches 397,000 critical, environmentally conscious readers, as Ruf Lanz writes in a press release. That is almost 15 percent more than in the last reach study. The agency's new advertising campaign uses prominent examples to show: Even critical minds definitely appreciate brand products. Fidel Castro loved Rolex, Che Guevara Coca Cola and Joschka Fischer his Nike sneakers. The three subjects are used in the advertising trade press as well as in the titles of the Ecopool.

Responsible at the Ecopool: Kilian Gasser, Claudia Gillardon. Responsible at Ruf Lanz: Markus Ruf, Danielle Lanz (CD), Andreas Hornung (text), Marcel Schläfle (AD), Florian Fleischmann (graphics), Doelkar Monkhar, Kristina Burch (consulting).

Last but not least: Just missed

Time and again, voices are raised claiming that the gaze is somewhat insensitive to the dignity and privacy of dead people and their bereaved. A recent case proves this: The voices are wrong. Completely wrong.

The tragic case of Angela S., who lost her life in a car accident, shows: Blick always strives to show respect for the dead in its reporting. Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way it should, and the black bar doesn't quite end up where it should. But in the end, it's the will that counts. Incidentally, the Werbewoche online editorial team subsequently tried to obscure the woman's eyes a little - out of respect, of course.
