Netbreeze provides social media report

Netbreeze, an online monitoring service provider specializing in social media, is launching a free Community Edition of its proprietary Social Media Report, effective immediately. The report can be generated and used free of charge by companies and agencies.

The Social Media Report searches on Facebook and YouTube, in blogs and microblogs such as Twitter as well as in forums and online news for articles that match the search terms entered. An interactive report is generated from the documents found, which answers the most important questions relating to these search terms. Agencies and social media professionals can use the tool for their own purposes by adding their own branding to the generated report.

Many companies use alert services as a monitoring tool to stay up to date on brands, people or a specific topic area. The disadvantage of this is that it is often very easy to lose track, according to the agency. The Social Media Report aims to close this gap and allow users to quickly and efficiently gain an overview of any topic area.

Example reports "Angela Merkel", "Occupy movement"

Stable job offer on the Internet

Online job postings remain stable at a high level. The decline amounts to 0.2 percent. Swiss online job postings have managed to maintain the level seen in the summer quarter into the fall quarter. The Monster Index Switzerland (MIS) (formerly the Jobpilot Index) reached the previous quarter’s level of 216 points. This marks the second-highest level the MIS has ever reached.

The index published by Monster.ch is compiled by the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (sub-index for job boards) together with the University of Zurich (sub-index for companies). The MIS sub-index for online job boards reached 207 points in October, as it did in July and April, thus reaching its highest level to date for the third time in a row, as the agency writes in a press release on Tuesday. The number of vacancies on company recruitment websites (representative sample of around 1,000 Swiss companies and organizations) fell slightly by 3 points to 232 compared to July. The overall index has thus fallen slightly by 0.2 percentage points, but remains at 216 points due to rounding.

Swiss Press Council rejects complaint against NZZ am Sonntag/St. Galler Tagblatt

The Swiss Press Council has dismissed a complaint filed by Heide Göttner-Abendroth, the organizer of the Matriarchy Congress. In the Council’s view, the NZZ am Sonntag and the St. Galler Tagblatt reported accurately on the May 2011 congress in St. Gallen.

In her complaint, the congress organizer accused the two newspapers of conducting a "smear campaign" based on unverified statements by a denouncer and a sect representative. All factual information about the congress and her person had been suppressed in the reporting. The newspapers had written that experts in sect prevention were appalled that the city of St. Gallen wanted to support the event. One sect expert was quoted as saying that the organizer represented a dogmatic world view and did not tolerate any other opinions. This puts the feminist group in the vicinity of a fundamentalist religious movement.

The Press Council rejected this complaint on the grounds that it was not objectionable from a professional ethics perspective that the two newspapers had reported critically on the Matriarchal Congress and questioned the city's contribution. It is also within the editorial discretion to limit reporting to aspects that are relevant from a journalistic point of view, even if these are not central to the organizer. This is what the Press Council wrote in a press release on Tuesday. The complainant was able to make a clear statement about the allegations. In addition, the reporting in the St. Galler Tagblatt revealed that the city of St. Gallen stood by its article because the sectarian accusation had not been substantiated.

The accusation of an orchestrated media campaign is just as unsubstantiated as the accusation that the quoted former employee is a denouncer, writes the Press Council. However, it is not the task of the Press Council to conduct evidence proceedings on disputed factual allegations. It therefore relies primarily on the documents submitted by the parties.

The Press Council did not address the allegation that the reporting violated the human dignity of the congress director due to a lack of sufficient justification.

Datacolor stable in fiscal 2010/11

Datacolor's revenue remained stable in fiscal year 2010/11. The company maintained its revenue at 55.5 million U.S. dollars.

Consolidated net sales in US dollars amounted to 56.1 million dollars in fiscal year 2009/10. Datacolor's EBIT and net profit in the 2010/11 financial year amounted to 4.7 million and 3.8 million dollars respectively. Datacolor is the global market leader in the textile sector and with solutions for calibrating monitors, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. Datacolor is also strengthening its market position and customer proximity in other key markets such as the automotive and plastics industries and the specialty chemicals sector, which produces paints and coatings, by investing heavily in new products and expanding its own sales organization.

According to Datacolor, the result was impacted by a year-on-year increase of around a third in research and development expenses as well as additional, non-recurring personnel costs in connection with organizational adjustments and the strength of the Swiss franc. EBITDA amounted to 6.0 million dollars, compared to 6.4 million dollars in the previous year. In view of the good financial situation, the Board of Directors will propose to the Annual General Meeting that a dividend of CHF 10 be distributed for the 2010/11 financial year.

In the reporting period, the Asia-Pacific region's share of sales increased to 30.4%, North and South America contributed 28.2% and Europe remained the largest sales market with a share of 41.4%. The average number of employees increased by 20 to 278 full-time equivalents due to the expansion of business activities.

Social Dial: Making calls with an app within a social network

With the free Social Dial app, it is now possible to make calls within a social network without a telephone number. The communications company Bababoo announced the launch of the app today.

This is a new, free mobile app for both iPhone and Android that allows you to call or text Facebook and LinkedIn friends without knowing their phone number. Users simply need to log in to their Facebook or LinkedIn account once and Social Dial will create a new address book containing all their friends and contacts. Users can call or text this person by touching their name. Bababoo wrote this on Tuesday on Presseportal.ch.

With Social Dial, the social network user does not have to give out their phone number and can also block people. Group calls can also be made: You can set up a conference call on the spot for invited persons only, both with contacts from the social network and with contacts from the regular phone list, Bababoo continues in the press release. In contrast to VoIP systems, which deliver poor quality on cell phones, Social Dial uses the local connection of the telephone company.

Rundfunk.fm goes on air on Radio 1

Next Thursday, December 1, the time has come: Rundfunk.fm goes on air on Radio 1. The new program is a format for night owls, night owls and insomniacs.

Every day from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., "Rundfunk.fm uf Radio 1" is an independent format on the Zurich radio station for adults. Rundfunk.fm guarantees high-quality music from national and international DJs and musicians, Radio 1 said in a press release on Tuesday. At the beginning of each week, "Rundfunk.fm uf Radio 1" presents musical trouvailles and rarities. From Thursday to Saturday, the format is the active companion for Zurich's nightlife.

The aim of this experiment is to expand Radio 1's offering in an exciting time slot that has not yet been properly utilized by any station, says Radio1 boss Roger Schawinski. The urban Rundfunk.fm community will enrich the spectrum in the best possible way.
