Pixeldisko: Full house with Dabu Fantastic and new creative director

The Pixeldisko agency has designed a visual identity and brand universe for Swiss Music Award winner Dabu Fantastic. In addition, Marc Schadegg has joined the six-person agency as creative director.

The repositioning of Dabu Fantastic should serve as a basis for further processes with stylists, photographers and video creators. This is also how the packaging for the new album "Disco Titanic" was created - a safe haven that visually does justice to the musical work, as the agency describes the new packaging. Marc Schadegg was already on board, with whom Pixeldisko intends to further professionalize the agency's services in the future. Marc Schadegg will hold the position of creative director in future.

Responsible at Pixeldisko: Marc Schadegg (CD), Othmar Küng (consulting/text), Katja Zimmermann (project management), Pia Fleischmann (graphics), Corinne Wyssen (prepress)
Responsible at Dabu Fantastic: Andreas Christen, Dabu Bucher. Styling: Mensur Biqevci. Photography: Lisa Graf, Annina Burkhalter, Jonas Burkhalter. Album Teaser Trailer: Michel Kiwic.

Striking: The book to the tent

«Das Zelt» has been touring Switzerland for ten years now. During that time, Cathrine and Adrian Steiner have managed to turn a small project at Expo.02 into a recognized institution that has become an integral part of Swiss cultural life.

The show company’s greatest highlights have now been brought to life once again in a book, just in time for the anniversary tour. The author is H. Elias Fröhlich, an expert on the scene. The richly illustrated book is published by Weltbild Verlag and comes with a CD featuring 70 minutes of footage from the tent’s history.

Huge gap

Switzerland is facing a shortage of several thousand employees with in-depth knowledge of online marketing—but a solution is slowly emerging.

Last but not least: Welcome spring in style

«Who’s actually interested in luxury and style supplements?» This question kicks off a rant by Kurt W. Zimmermann about the abundance of luxury supplements this spring. The answer is simple: It doesn’t matter who’s interested in them, but rather whether advertisers believe the supplements are of interest.

Is there really anyone who enjoys the vast quantities of luxury and lifestyle supplements that clog up the mailbox in the spring and turn recycling into a nightmare? Perhaps. One question, however, remains unanswered: Is Zimmermann railing against the lifestyle supplements because they’re overflowing his mailbox too, or could it be that he’s troubled by the fact that even his employer, *Weltwoche*, has just published a lifestyle supplement with the telling title «Stil»—and is obviously adhering precisely to the guidelines he criticizes: every advertising page is accompanied by a beautiful, matching story. And as if that weren’t enough, *Weltwoche* even states on the cover that this is «our biggest issue yet.» One can only hope that the supplements will just get bigger, but not heavier as well.

Caught the eye: Storytelling in PR

In his book, Frank Littek introduces PR professionals—who view storytelling as a complement to standard PR work, carried out in addition to the usual press releases and reports—to a new form of storytelling.

The freelance journalist, PR consultant and author wants to use storytelling to structure the entire PR work in order to create or change the corporate image holistically.

A company achieves this by concentrating on its myth, the central idea, and communicating this to the public as an ongoing story. One example that appears in the book is the environmental protection organization Greenpeace. Every step the company takes - the animal rights activists fight whalers in rubber dinghies - is told as a story, with these narratives being strung together to tell the story of the organization, its "David versus Goliath" battle for the environment. An exciting approach. However, readers who want to find out more will have to be patient. After a few introductory examples that show how important and fundamental stories are for people, the author turns to the specifics of different journalistic forms of presentation and the basics of press work in around 70 pages: tips on how to write good press releases, what the difference is between a report, a report, a news item or a feature or what press officers should look out for in an interview. Even if concrete examples are repeatedly mentioned - airline crashes, a freight forwarding cooperation - these often do not focus on the core topic or the basic idea of storytelling. In addition, there are long passages in which excerpts from novels are used to explain what a good story looks like. Sections that are perhaps exciting to read. However, the author would have liked more reference to PR. Conclusion: The book is suitable as a source of inspiration for entrepreneurs or employees involved in communication. It makes you think about your own company and at the same time conveys the basic knowledge of press relations. However, PR managers who want to deal with the topic of storytelling in depth are less likely to be happy with this publication. (imp)

New Lgk promotes Swiss sugar

Four years ago, Neue Lgk launched a TV campaign for sugar from Switzerland on behalf of the Aarberg and Frauenfeld sugar factories. Now the campaign is getting a new addition.

Two new commercials are designed to highlight the benefits and origins of our sugar. With one of the two films, the agency is also promoting the current 100th anniversary of Swiss sugar. The style of the commercials is based on the successful formula of the first series. The product itself is the stage for catchy stories told using stop-motion technology, accompanied by a sung dialect off.

The new spots will be broadcast on Swiss television and in various advertising windows from the end of March. They will be supplemented by various below-the-line measures around this year's anniversary.

Responsible at ZAF Zuckerfabriken Aarberg and Frauenfeld: Guido Stäger (CEO), Beat Gerber (Head of Marketing), Sandro Bieri (Product Management). Responsible at the New Lgk: André Benker, Hans Tanner (Creative Direction), Andreas Szentkuti (Text), Kerstin Berk (Art Direction), Raphaela Brühlmeier (Consulting), Solid & Hallerfilm (Film Production), Loose Moose Ltd (Animation), Peter & Balz (Music).
