Burson-Marsteller: Pitch for BAG campaign won

The pitch for the mandate of the "Information and awareness campaign on the new GHS chemical labeling 2012-2014" of the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH has been decided

Following a two-stage, selective tendering process, the Zurich-based agency Burson-Marsteller has been awarded the mandate. Burson-Marsteller convinced the jury with its strategic considerations, creative ideas and diverse, modular and cross-channel communication measures, writes the Federal Office of Public Health in a press release on Wednesday.

According to the press release, the FOPH and the sponsors hope that the campaign strategy will inform the public about the new, globally standardized hazard labeling, including the hazard symbols on chemical products. The aim is also to raise awareness of the dangers of chemical products and remind people of the simple rules of conduct for correct handling.

The partner campaign will be implemented over three years (2012 to 2014). The official campaign launch is scheduled for fall 2012.

Publisuisse with sales growth in the 2011 financial year

At its annual general meeting on April 18, 2012, Publisuisse announced its revenue figures for the 2011 fiscal year. In the 2011 fiscal year, the company reported a revenue increase of 19 million Swiss francs (+6 percent).

This corresponds to net revenues of just under CHF 341 million. Net revenues from the marketing of classic TV advertising for SRG's programs came to just under 320 million. The other business areas (TV and radio sponsorship, cross-media) generated a total of CHF 21 million. Net profit after taxes amounted to just under CHF 1.7 million.

2012 will be a rather difficult year for the Swiss advertising market as a whole. The debt crisis in the euro zone and the associated strength of the Swiss franc are likely to have a negative impact on the Swiss advertising market. This is leading to a certain reluctance to invest in advertising, which publisuisse is also feeling in the first quarter of 2012.

The Board of Directors of Publisuisse is composed as follows:
President: Gilles Marchand, Director RTS
Vice President: Paul Nyffeler, Consultant Univest
Members: Dino Balestra, Director RSI; Roger Basler, Managing Director Heineken Switzerland; Nico Issenmann, Owner Issenmann Consulting; Daniel Jorio, Director Finance and Controlling SRG; Rudolf Matter, Director SRF.

"Gottschalk Live" to be discontinued

«Gottschalk Live» is being canceled. The final episode of the ARD early-evening show will air on June 7. The ARD management announced on Wednesday that the reason for the cancellation was low viewer response.

The show hosted by 61-year-old entertainer Thomas Gottschalk started on January 23 and recently had barely more than one million viewers. The show fell well short of its target of double-digit ratings, usually only achieving ratings of around five percent.

"I think it's a shame that 'Gottschalk Live' has not been as popular with the audience as we all wanted it to be," said ARD Chairwoman and WDR Director General Monika Piel on Wednesday: "It was an experiment that Thomas Gottschalk got involved in with his whole personality."

Now, he said, they should "calmly" consider working together in another form. Gottschalk was quoted by the TV station as saying: "I take note of this decision by the directors with regret, but I fully understand it." (SDA/DPA/AFP)

Last but not least: Hitler as an animal dealer

Hitler as the caring owner of a pet store, Milosevic as the creative owner of a garden center, and Hussein as the proud owner of the fast-food restaurant «Saddam’s Diner‘? Hard to imagine.

A social campaign by Being and TBWA aims to make it clear that dictators will always remain dictators and will not simply stop. The "Dream on" spot is intended to Wuv.de for a signature campaign to stop dictator al-Bashir in Darfur. And is not stingy with contrasts that get under your skin. Although: Offering a dog for sale in a pet shop, as "Hitler" does in the commercial, is not necessarily a good thing either - the controversial topic is not a hot topic in Germany. up to date.

And before it starts raining tons of nasty comments: OF COURSE Hitler's atrocities cannot be compared to selling dogs at the pet store - OBVIOUSLY not, ladies and gentlemen - that's not what I meant.

SRG and publishers: rapprochement and submissions to the Uvek

Private media companies and the SRG have reached a tentative agreement on the extent to which the SRG may be present online through editorial content and advertising. They have informed the DETEC of this. The search for a solution continues.

The SRG and the Publishers' Association have each submitted a report to the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). The reports contain a joint part and a separate statement, as Uvek spokesperson Harald Hammel explained in a report by the media magazine Edito Online confirmed on Tuesday.

No details were provided on the content of the submissions, with reference to the ongoing negotiations. "The Uvek is currently holding talks with the publishers and the SRG," Hammel merely said. "It acknowledges that a rapprochement has taken place between publishers and SRG, but some points remain controversial."

In September 2011, Media Minister Doris Leuthard called on publishers and SRG to work together to find solutions in the highly competitive online market. Since then, publishers and SRG have been working together in working groups to find solutions for content and advertising in the online business. (SDA)

Pulitzer: "Philadelphia Inquirer" honored

The winners of this year's Pulitzer Prizes were announced in New York. In the fiction category, no prize was awarded for the first time in decades.

The jury did not want to award the prize to any of the three candidates in the final round. No reason was given for the decision. The final three candidates were: Denis Johnson, Karen Russel and David Foster Wallace, who died in 2008. As usual, however, there was one award in the drama category: playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes won with her play "Water by the Spoonful".

Of the 14 journalism awards at the Pulitzer Prizes, the "Philadelphia Inquirer" won in the supreme discipline of "public service". The newspaper impressed with its reports on youth violence. The popular online newspaper Huffington Post also received a Pulitzer Prize for the first time. It received the award for a series on the return of wounded American soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. The prizes were awarded for the 96th time this year. They are the most important media prizes in the USA and are awarded in 21 categories.
