Radio Zürisee with record sales and increased profits

In 2011, Radio Zürisee significantly increased its net income and operating income compared with the previous year. Among other factors, the sale of its own programming services to other stations contributed to the positive results.

All areas from classic spot sales to program sponsoring and media partnerships contributed to the good result, according to a statement on Wednesday. Last year, Radio Zürisee achieved an operating result (Ebitda) of CHF 685,000. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to an increase of 31.5 percent. Net profit improved by as much as 46.3 percent. This amounts to 313,000 Swiss francs in 2011. With around 4,827,000 Swiss francs, Radio Zürisee set a new revenue record last year.

The sale of own programming services to other broadcasters also contributed to the positive result, according to the statement. Radio Zürisee operates a newsroom in the Federal Palace. In 2011, its radio reports were regularly received by 20 stations in German-speaking Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. In addition, Radio Zürisee's sports editorial team reported on the Swiss national soccer team's qualifying matches for the 2012 European Championship finals for eight private radio stations.

Radio Zürisee: Philip Gut new on the Board of Directors

Philip Gut was unanimously elected to the Board of Directors of Radio Zürisee at the Annual General Meeting. There, he will represent the majority shareholder Zürichsee Medien in the future.

The 32-year-old lawyer worked for various radio stations during and after his studies and now works as a media lawyer for a Zurich business law firm, as the private broadcaster writes in a statement on Wednesday. Philip Gut has been elected for a term of three years. René Schweri and Roland Walker, who were members of the board of directors of Radio Zürisee for 27 years, have decided not to run again. During the early days in the 1980s, both represented investors who supported the lake station in this difficult phase.

The Board of Directors of Radio Zürisee now consists of the following five members: Theodor Gut (Chairman), Philip Gut, Ueli Fausch, Barbara Schmid-Federer and Urs Wickihalder.

Claudia Lässer moves from SSF to Teleclub Sport

The managing director of Swiss sports television SSF is moving to the Teleclub Sport team this summer in a senior position.

The 35-year-old sports and media manager will be head of sports programming at Teleclub and also deputy to head of sports Roger Feiner, and will be responsible for Teleclub's sports content. Lässer has several years of experience in the development, conceptualization and implementation of TV formats and has hosted various TV programs in the sports sector and in entertainment, according to a statement on Wednesday. As part of Teleclub Sport broadcasts, she will host the Raiffeisen Super League soccer studios, among others, and will also focus on the continuous development of sports content.

This step to Teleclub is a logical development of her career, says Lässer. She is very much looking forward to the new challenge in a dynamic environment.

Setback for SSF

For SSF, their termination means another setback. In January, according to SDA, the station announced that its reach was too small for a full program and that it was therefore focusing on a new concept. The plan was to focus on an app strategy and Internet distribution starting in the spring. This would make production and distribution cheaper than the previous TV concept. In view of the new concept, about 10 employees were laid off. Currently, seven people are still working at SSF. When asked by SDA, no one wanted to answer what Lässer's departure means for the station and the implementation of the online strategy.

Already in February, the founders and main investors Peter Weigelt and Giorgio Behr left the company. According to the commercial register, the investors who left on February 27 were also members of SSF's board of directors. They were replaced, among others, by editorial director Lässer herself.

Main problem: Low market share

SSF's main problem is its low market share. Only during finals or similar sporting highlights does the station achieve market shares of around 7 percent. On average, however, the Zurich-based sports station does not manage more than 0.2 percent.

SSF has been on the air since July 2009 and initially had to fight for a place on Cablecom's cable network. It was not until 2010 that the federal government decreed that Cablecom had to include the station in the analog cable network. SSF replaced the German station Sport 1, formerly DSF, on the network.

SBB and Maxomedia: The ticket vending machine in the trouser pocket

A campaign by Maxomedia for SBB, featuring the tagline «SBB Mobile – the world’s smallest ticket machine,» aims to encourage more people to use their smartphones to purchase SBB and regional transit tickets.

Over two million people have installed the SBB Mobile app on their smartphone and actively use it to check train connections, the agency said in a press release. But shortly before the train they want to catch departs, they are left without a ticket and long queues form in front of ticket offices and ticket machines. Only a few people are aware that the SBB mobile app offers a function for purchasing tickets and that they already have "the ticket machine for their trouser pocket" with them.

Communication takes place via mobile banners, POS screens and newsletters. The banners lead to the centerpiece of the campaign, a mobile landing page. It contains a step-by-step guide to buying tickets and explains the most important functions of the SBB Mobile App in a tutorial video. The scrollable page aims to leave no questions unanswered and sends the user "To bed tonight with the ticket machine".

Publicis: Educational campaign for Lundbeck further developed

To raise awareness among the Swiss public about depression and suicide, Publicis further developed the «Lean on Me» awareness campaign for Lundbeck, which was originally launched in 2011.

While the focus last year was on depression, "Helping is easy" goes one step further and also covers the topic of suicide, Publicis said in a press release. Because the following applies to both depression and suicidal thoughts: looking away is easy. But so is helping.

The campaign is supported by the European Depression Association (EDA), an independent organization with the aim of raising awareness of depression in every country. In Switzerland, the following associations/societies are partners of the campaign: Equilibrium (Association for Coping with Depression), the Swiss Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (SGPP), Ipsilon, an initiative for the prevention of suicide in Switzerland, the Swiss Society of General Medicine (SGAM), the Association of Relatives of Schizophrenia/Psychiatric Patients (VASK) and the Werner Alfred Selo Foundation (WASS).

The financial platform Finews.ch and Communicators have launched a survey on career prospects in the Swiss financial sector. The survey is aimed at all professionals working in banks, insurance companies, and other finance-related institutions, as well as students and trainees in this sector, and is supported by «FH Schweiz,» the umbrella organization for graduates of universities of applied sciences.
